Of course, his defense for his dumbassedness always goes back to the "unwritten rules" and "codes" and anyone who "gets it" knows what he means! - kinda like when Rush said that McNabb was "overrated". I mean, we all "know" that black guys *really* can't play quarterback, right? Even funnier is that being an alleged Sportswriter in BOSTON for about 30 years, he should know what "white" teams can do...
And did you catch who called him an idiot? DON WEST! THE DON WEST! (betcha didn't know he had his own sports show!)- someone should submit that as an obscure Torch wrestling tidbit of the day. Speaking of which, Ryan did an AWESOME rant one time about the "World Wrestling FOUNDATION", live on the Sports Reporters. Even funnier was Lupica, of all people, had to correct him.

On the other hand, I'm watching highlights of the Vanderbilt/Western Michigan game right now, and there were never any less than three black players on the court at any one time in any of those highlights.
My mother likes to make jokes about NBA teams and their “token white guys”. For years, the Pacers' token white guy was Rik Smits. It's not really a knock on anyone, it's just a comment that white players are a distinct minority in the league.
Recently, though, with more and more European players joining the Big League, that comment hasn't applied quite so much. | JayJayDean

He was doing an interview and the interviewer and he were discussing Ms. Kidd and her affinity for the camera, all in a very negative light, mind you.
And Ryan, in a sarcastic way, said, "Ah, someone oughta smack her."
Come on. It's not like he literally meant someone should physically attack her or abuse her. His choice of words or phrasing maybe was unfortunate, but harmless.
I haven't read the "white" story yet, so I'll withhold comment till I have time to read over it. | JayJayDean

The fact the Lobel gave him a chance to change his words and he didn't worked against him there, and he admitted he should've but didn't want to come across as hypocritical worked against him. You'd think he woulda learned, is all.

I'll second that. Ryan is full of himself, apparently racist and sexist, and is far too high up George Steinbrenner's ass to be a Boston sportswriter. It doesn't matter that the NY Times owns the Boston Globe; Ryan loves the Yankees too much. Look at Michael Holley or Michael Smith, to name two of his ATH brothers. They may be "homers" at times, but they're supposed to be. | Stefonics

Air Force was surprisingly white. Combine that with their passing/back door attack and I thought I was watching an old Princeton game.

Hey...it's not Vandy's fault that the refs are idiots...and every one of the ten people I was watching the game with yelled "intentional!!!!" as soon as it happened...It looked like he grabbed Corey's arm...the replay showed otherwise...Refs make lousy calls all the time, and that's the first time I can remember that we come out on the good side of a pivotal call like that...

Whaddya know? Vandy wins again and the same three score 47 pts., including 31 alone from Freije. Now if I can just get Ryan to open his fatass mouth and say something racist about UAB, we can see a couple of Cinderellas in the final.
