He can demand all he wants, salary cap rules would make it virtually impossible for him to be traded during the first 2-3 years of his contract, due to base player rules etc. | Alessandro

HOWEVER, if the team can't trade him, that might actually be worse for them : rather than getting some suitable replacement(s) come in for Jermaine, they're gonna have an unhappy (and unmotivated) player stuck on their roster for the next 4-5 years.
If Jermaine doesn't want to play for this team, I daresay he won't be a very productive player ... Thus, the team's record will suffer as a result.
