This was an announcement that came with little fanfare. Mike Dunleavy, who led the Lakers to the NBA finals and came within one game of doing the same with the Portland Trailblazers, was named coach of the Clippers. When this was first announced, I was thrilled.

That's when the sudden exodus began.

First came Corey Maggette who agreed to sign with Denver. Then comes today's shocker that ANDRE MILLER will also sign with the Nuggets. Add that to the possibility of San Antonio courting Elton Brand and Dunleavy may not have a team left to coach.

On an aside, does it seem to anyone else that the Nuggets might become the most improved team next year? Andre Miller and Carmelo Anthony gives Denver the best backcourt they've had in years.

Well, how many of those players were gonna stay with the Clips(e) anyway? Olowokandi may be gone, too... sure, now that he might not only not suck, but be good. They know Sterling's a tightass, and aren't expecting much of him.

Can't David Stern step in any try to get Sterling to sell the team? It must be killing the NBA to have such a horrid franchise in such a good market.

I had hope for Sterling's franchise until I realized just HOW MANY free agents were on this team. Miller's departure makes the trade with Cleveland a year ago a total waste. Two years ago, there was hope for Clippers fans with what was, at the time, a very young and exciting team. With the starting five of Odom, Olowokandi, Maggette, Richardson/Dooling, and Brand (ALL less than 25 years old), this team could have drawn MILLIONS! Sterling's penny-pinching has led to the biggest collapse of a sure thing since the InVasion.

It truly is "A Tale of Two Cities" here in Los Angeles.
