Does Kidd stay or does he go (seemingly West)?
I think it's safe to say it's all over for the Nets if Kidd decides to go and if he goes to San Antonio like the rumor says - poor Tony Parker will be relegated to a mere backup.

Since the Spurs already have a point guard who is much cheaper and younger, it makes more sense to go after Jermaine O'Neill in order to continue the Twin Tower concept they have developed. If Kidd is fed up with dealing with Lord Byron Scott, then it is possible he could go to the Clippers (for Andre Miller and others [don't have the cap figures of the players in front of me, but as long as they combine salaries to within 15%, its do-able]). If he goes to LA, then his wife could still do TV. Most likely though, he stays in Jersey. | tomvejada

As for San Antonio, Speedy Claxton did a decent job as back-up to Parker in the Finals. He should get more playing time next year. | Grimis

Is Kidd to Denver a totally unrealistic option? If JK can turn around the Nets, then why not the Nuggets? Combine him with Carmelo Anthony, and that's a pretty solid nucleus to build on.

| #8 Posted on 17.6.03 0925.51 Reposted on: 17.6.10 0929.01 | Let's look at this the other way:
Jason Kidd is *not* what San Antonio needs to be a force in the future. The guy they need is Jermaine O'Neal. Look at the Lakers series - without Robinson in there, Shaq eats Duncan for lunch and the four-peat would have happened. Duncan can not face the behemoths of the West by himself. The Spurs have a fine point guard corps in Parker & Claxton - in fact, just a week ago, everyone was talking about how Parker was *outplaying* Kidd until the Nets got smart and put Kittles on him.
Plus, Jason Kidd would not like playing in San Antonio: 1) His wife wouldn't be too happy - San Antonio isn't exactly a hotbed for entertainment jobs; 2) J-Kidd would always be the second banana to Duncan, and not the elite superstar that he has been with the Nets. Pure greed is the only reason that J-Kidd would sign with the Spurs.
I won't predict how this goes, but mark my words: If the Spurs don't sign O'Neal and let Kidd stay put, you can toss any dynasty or repeat talk out the window. | Alessandro

Sure is stock is high because he has been feasting on the East. But he won't be as dominant in the West. Plus with Jermaine, you still have erratic backcourt play with Parker and Stephen Jackson.
I say sign Kidd, and a middle-tier Center like Olawakandi or Brad Miller. | It's False

They dominated the best point guards in the league this postseason (INCLUDING Kidd), which should be MORE than enough to prove that they deserve to be where they're at.
There's something to be said about overkill.

I have to agree with that. Get a center over Jermaine. I think it's Tom Tolbert who said "they're not replacing David Robinson in his prime, they're replacing David Robinson at the end of his career." So it's not like they need to replace David with a superstar. I still don't think they're necessarily better than Sactown. I mean Kidd and Parker on the same team is good but I'd still take Bibby and Bobby. Christie is better than Jackson. Peja is better than Bowen, although Bowen would guard him pretty well. Duncan is the best player in the league, but Chris Webber ain't chopped liver. And Divac, well, I think he's done but still, they both have weapons of the bench, so I think if anything they're still pretty even. And if the Mavs add a center or power forward they have a pretty impressive team too.
One more thing. If the Spurs or Nets both want a point guard but only one of them gets Kidd then how about Gary Payton. Last time I checked he was still the best point guard other than Kidd. | redsoxnation

Unless C-Webb(or some other big man) is healthy and playing well. That was the problem with NJ was that Kidd couldn't do it all himself with Martin playing off and not having a PF(i.e. Van Horn) to pick up some slack. | CRZ

But I love Bibby!
Also I like Hedo Turkoglu. (There, I spelled it )
Geez, I'd rather root for MALONE than for KIDD...

Do you remember that Corey Maggette was originally drafted by the Sonics? Then traded for Horace Grant on draft night? (argh!) Who was then traded (with others) for Patrick Ewing? (ARGH!) | Stefonics

But then maybe the could have traded Payton for a big man instead of for Jesus Shuttlesworth.
As for Kidd going to Sactown? I think replacing Bibby is a horrible idea. The guy is just coming into his own now, and he has gotten better with each season he's played. Why not take advantage of his talent and make a healthy Webber push them over the top. That and as a Wildcat alum, I'm more than biased.
