Raw wins overall 4-3
Shield vs New Day was outstanding. Xavier Woods deserves an Emmy for his ability to play both a comedy buffoon and a badass.
With 10 women in a single match, who could have possibly predicted Alicia Fox was the most likely to botch a finish? Everyone? Okay then. Decent match overall. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Tamina vs Nia Jax is a straight up singles brawl. It seems like bizarre booking to me to have the most popular member of the Smackdown team be the very first person eliminated, but perhaps it leads to a Becky vs the roster type feud that I could get behind.
I won't like, I only half watched Corbin vs Miz. Nothing seemed offensively bad about it, though.
Usos vs Sheamus & Cesaro was exactly what you would expect from these two teams, which was an outstanding brawl.
Charlotte vs Alexa was outstanding as well. Alexa was absolutely vicious early on, to the point that most of the match was one-sided. I suspect this match defied most peoples expectations.
Brock Lesnar is the new John Cena, except that at least Cena is a decent human being outside of the ring. I wonder if Vince is stupid enough to think he books Brock as a monster because he's over and not the other way around? While AJ's comeback lead to some believable near-falls, the F5 now being a fatality is fucking stupid. The F5 as a finisher was stupid enough. Fuck the F5 and fuck Brock Lesnar.
After the Brock match, I lost interest and turned off the show. According to recaps, HHH turned on Kurt Angle, causing him to get eliminated, then he pretended to align himself with Shane against Braun Strowman, but then double-crossed Shane and eliminated him to win the match. Braun didn't take kindly to HHH's chicanery, however, and murdered him afterward. I assume this means that HHH will feed Strowman a sledgehammer at Royal Rumble in route to beating Kurt Angle clean at Wrestlemania. (It is worth noting that Strowman was responsible for 3 of the 5 eliminations for his team, with Angle pinning Cena and HHH pinning Shane. (Also, Cena & Orton eliminated Samoa Joe & Finn Balor respectively, because why would you want to give the up-and-coming team members (Roode & Nakamura) any momentum?))
Overall, I'd say it was a successful event, but fuck Brock Lesnar. Promote this thread! | | lotjx

Utterly stupid to shove these guys down our throat while your full time is an after thought. New Day/Shield was a fun dream match, but sorta boring with Shield going over. AJ is the real MVP of 2017. Usos going over was a legit shock. | graves9

AJ vs Brock was really good with Brock for once being motivated and sellung big time and AJ bumped like a madman, I would love to see a rematch and Heyman putting over AJ after the match on WWE.com was great. The Raw vs Smackdown SS match was going good until it turned into a HHH wankfest in the last ten minutes was not fun until Braun destroyed Triple H. I'm guessing we get Angle/HHH at Royal Rumble with Jordan costing Angle the match and HHH/Braun at WM.

Loved Shield-New Day, loved AJ-Brock.
The Bar don't do it for me, and I wish I knew why. Maybe I am simply set on Cesaro having a singles career.
The main event got Braun over and took anyway Angle's appeal. He's done. Hang up the boots for good. The guys getting suplexed did all the work, and it was obvious. Also, he might have killed himself taking the Pedigree wrong. | kellogs

Great match and would have been so much better if he was allowed to kick out of a F5 which is being saved for Roman to do at Mania. After all the hits and strikes he took, kicking out of a F5 would be relatively simple! Nice to see Brock caring about a match as well.
The main event had so much potential and should have been so much better. The combined efforts of Joe, Cena, Roode, Nakamura and Balor were negligible overall. Hunter let himself get in the ring with Nakamura and Roode presumably so he can say he was 'helping the talent', but outside of the McMahon vision that didn't happen. The post match stuff was obvious and although nice to see didn't make the match worthwhile.
New Day were great and Shield were good as well. Reigns still isn't popular, but Shield triple team moves are. Does that make sense?! Woods is getting better and better.
New Day and The Bar was hard hitting and enjoyable. Charlotte and Bliss not so much but they gave them a lot of time and was alright. Womens match was as expected, apart from the botched pin/submission, and Corbin came out of looking good.
What will happen tonight on Raw? Not sure I am looking to a long HHH explanation about what happened and why. Will anyone be brave enough to go with Lesnar v Strowman at Mania which could easily be made in to a main event rather than putting Reigns there? Long term plans aren't always the best plans. Capatlise on Strowman now while you can - he is super over and enjoyable to watch. Reigns isn't going to change so might as well wait a year if they still want to do it, even if it doesn't mean beating Brock and being the first to kick out of a F5 for a year. Let Strowman do it this year and see what happens. | andy1278

No more Angle wrestling, please.
New Day-Shield was great. And it was really cool seeing Xavier go toe to toe with Roman and it seemingly realistic.

| #7 Posted on 20.11.17 1721.35 Reposted on: 20.11.24 1722.04 | I say as long as Brock is trucking along on contract, Brock ain't losing (clean & in any serious way) to anybody. Last I recall hearing about Brock contract status was that he's in through Wrestlemania, & that contract has a renewal clause for another year. (Is that that currently understood situation?) Brock is capable of having great matches, particularly if he's motivated. eg. Yesterday's match with AJ was excellent! I definitely give AJ massive credit for motivating Brock, but it wasn't anything like AJ dragging deadweight. You get Brock inspired, & he's good to go play.
On the Braun Strowman front, I see them positioning him to be the long-term replacement for Undertaker (as well as Kane & Big Show, who are also getting toward the end of their in-ring time). This is the mysterious, "indestructable monster" meme -- bury him alive, crush him in a garbage truck -- doesn't matter. And he's still relatively young (34) -- given the ages of the top-level guys. In that role, there really isn't a strong impetus to push him into the position of "face of the company". "Indestructable monster" is a long-range job description.
If I were Vince, I would be sure I have strategy in position for either Brock scenario -- whether he stays or he bails. Meanwhile, I don't see Vince being in any real hurry to put the big title on Strowman or anybody else. | JustinShapiro

| #9 Posted on 21.11.17 0605.51 Reposted on: 21.11.24 0607.18 | The men's survivor series match was fine for the first half. Then the story kicked in and it went down the drain. I mean, I got Owens/Zayn's interference and I got Team Raw's infighting but there was no need to have it end like this. Though after the bell HHH and Strowman were entertaining with the posing and then the beatdown.
I enjoyed how much the crowd wanted to see Balor vs Nakamura. And what we got was good.
New Day vs Shield, Usos vs the Bar were all cool. I don't recall much from Miz vs Corbin (because tbh I don't care for Corbin) and the women's match was fine. I saw some complaints about Bayley going out first and/or Tamina lasting this long. But in the story sense it all was logical. And ofcourse we knew Asuka would be killing people at the end.
So yeah basically a good ppv with some terrible booking at the end.

Agree 100%. I got the sense in the main event that no one really gave a crap -- they were all going through the motions and looked a step or two slow.
I also found it kinda shake-your-head funny that everyone wore the "team" tshirts except for Shane, HHH, and Cena. For one night, you couldn't just wear the same thing as everyone else? And Cena was more or less pointless in the match. If only we could say the same about HHH. I'm faaaar from a HHHater, but man ... he just wanted to piss over everyone Sunday night, it seemed. | InVerse

As much as I can't stand Lesnar, I don't disagree with this logic. I had no problem with Lesnar winning the match. I just hate the "F5 out of nowhere" finish. If Lesnar wasn't on the ropes and then just miraculously hits an F5 with no other offense before it, but built up the victory with other offense first, I'd be fine with it. But he's used the F5 since day one and there's no reason to believe that it's suddenly far more deadly than it ever was in the past. At least come up with some bullshit reason why Brock has suddenly took the move to the next level. I'd love to see Braun Strowman try to intimidate Kurt Angle and Angle just respond by showing him video of Angle kicking out of multiple F5s while Braun couldn't kick out of one. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
