... going to be the new owner of RAW? Or, is he going to (storyline-wise) take over control of Smackdown!, since all the net writers seem to maintain that he's the new head writer for the show?

Maybe I'm reading too much into Brock Lesnar's involvement in McMahon's victory last night, but it seems to me that Heyman's "big plans" (or however he put it) will involve a more "prominent" role in the company on-screen than before ... as opposed to having Vinny Mac appear on BOTH shows

Heyman helps McMahon push Flair out of a position of power within the company (even though they BOTH became evil owners and Flair said that he respected McMahon on a previous show and yadda yadda yadda), so now McMahon "rewards" Heyman by making him the new owner of the Smackdown! brand ... Could be interesting, if that's the direction they're going with last night's (VERY confusing) program.

The problem with that is the whole reason for forcing Flair out is because Vince couldn't stand sharing ownership.

Heyman doesn't have to be an owner, per say. He could just be the guy who is in charge of one of the shows, because Vince is too busy. He's the VP of northeast operations.

In terms of ``real life'' versus ``on television,'' I thought it was an excellent idea to have Heyman writing the show he doesn't appear on. Although backstage politics are obviously still a reality, He can't be accused of pushing himself if he's writing a show that his character doesn't actually appear on.

That said, I expect to see Heyman (mit der Brockenspiel) on Smackdown on Thursday...

Because it's all Gone to Hell(™), of course.

I'd rather see him own Raw than be the whiney annoy Jim Cornet/Jimmy Hart character he is now. I really hate those guys, and not in a cool heel way but in a simple "I'd rather watch WWF/E without them on my TV" type of way.

best,

What I want to hear when Paul is named commissioner is: "My first act as commissioner is to change the crappy name of this company. From now on, we will be known as Extreme Championship Wrestling, or ECW!!" Then he whacks Vince and Brock takes him out.

See? We don't need Eric Bitchoff to do a great owner vs. owner angle.

Dude.

ECW is dead. They never got good ratings.

Get over it.

"ECW is dead" = correct. But what do their ratings have to do with anything (besides being the cause of their demise, maybe)? I'm just wondering if you were inplying that ECW sucked and mentioned their ratings as proof.

Or maybe I'm just reading too far into what you said.

Man, I couldn't decide whether to put this wild speculation in the Bischoff thread or the Heyman thread, but here goes....

If Vince is 100% owner now, but the split is still in effect, wouldn't it make sense for each show to have its own commissioner who handles the show from week to week, with Vince as their boss who could show up on either show, but usually only does so for a major announcement.

If they go with a set-up like that, how about Paul Heyman, commissioner of Smackdown! and Eric Bischoff commissioner of Raw? I bet Vince would love to have the bosses of his two major competitors in the 90s play his stooges on TV!

Before they hit the reset button this week I was thinking that they might give Hogan a match with a stipulation that causes him to win SD! from Vince, and they could build a rivalry between SD! and Raw based on "They were champions for competing shows then, and they are owners of competing shows now." Oh, well... "They were Vince's competition then, but they're his flunkies now," is also an interesting storyline. Not that it's very likely, but it would be quite a shake-up.

Just a bit. ECW was fine, for its time and place. So was the original Hulkamania. I find both forms of nostalgia to be less than desirable. EeeSeeDubyah chant on the show? Fine. Constant praise for anyone *just* because they were in ECW? Lame. Constant implications that it was some perfect, idyllic organization that is going to walk out of the past and solve everything with wreslting? Hells no. Garbage wrestling and self-abusing stunts are dead and gone, and not what we need for pro wrestling anymore.

And yes, I am exaggerating. But you see where I am shooting from. One of my friends is a complete ECW mark, and it's the same arguement every time.

Scorpio, besides the so-called 'junk wrestling', some of your favorite Internet darlings like the members of the Radicals regularly had all-time great matches in ECW. The wrestlers there had spunk and a wild sense of humor. The promos for the TV shows were better than either WWF or WCW at the time. Most of what you see in WWF today, most of the good parts and a few of the bad, came courtesy of ECW. So it is no coincidence that Vince is giving the reins of the wrestling part of the business to Heyman, while Vince he handles the bills.

Exactly..the good parts are already in the WWE.
WCW and WWE took the Radicalz and whoever else and made them into bigger stars then they could be back then.
Guys like Raven (i think he rules but let's face it) never made it in wcw or wwe because they didn't have the right look or anything for that fed and perhaps maybe for the big crowd. I am sure many of us could get into this sick twisted poet/brawler type, yet many would think he is a loony and turn off the tv.

Bringing back the name btw won't do shit for any ratings.
Especially after the Invasion 'disaster'.

So it is no coincidence that Vince is giving the reins of the wrestling part of the business to Heyman

Err..heyman is just one of the bookers isn't he? I didn't know he is already was promoted head of wrestling affairs..or are you just hoping he will be promoted, deadbeater?
