People and TMZ are reporting that actor Charlie Sheen will announce tomorrow on The Today Show that he's HIV-positive.

A terrible tragedy, if true. Thankfully, HIV-positive individuals are living longer than ever these days, and Sheen will certainly be able to afford the medication that will prolong his life.

Whether he's willing to make a positive change in his life is a debate best left to mental health professionals, of which I am not one.

I have seen a bunch of people on facebook talking about how sad this is.

The guy's been a meth head and whore monger for decades. This isn't sad, this is the results of his actions.

I won't go that far. I will say if people knew for years that he was HIV Positive and did nothing that is a borderline crime. This sort of explains the meltdown and the weirdness. I do wish him well, but I am more concerned about his possible victims.

In California, knowingly having unprotected sex with someone while you're HIV-positive is an actual crime. A felony, no less.

Agreed. This is like feeling bad for a smoker who has lung cancer or a heavy drinker with liver problems. He is an adult. HIV has been around too long for people NOT to know the risk of drug use and unprotected sex with multiple partners.

I find it hard to feel bad for people who know the dangers of doing something bad for you and choose to ignore them.

And call me jaded, but really? Announcing this on The Today Show? SMH.

Probably because their audience is old enough to think he's still relevant.

I don't know. Apparently he knew he was diagnosed 4 years ago, which is when he made that media debacle of leaving Two and a Half Men and started popping every drug and partying way too hard so that would explain his acting out. Apparently (his words) he let all of his sexual partners know about his diagnosis and has been shilling out hush money to keep most of them silent. I guess hiding his shame knows no price.

I don't think him coming out four years later is "brave" as the media makes it seem, but it is intriguing to me how he's chosen to deal. To me it raises the question of what a person goes through when they are directly faced with the grave consequences of their actions. Some retreat from the things and people they love, others try to find the positive and get their affairs in order while enjoying the time they have left alive. Sheen decided to live even more recklessly and be self-aggrandizing in the face of terminal illness. It's almost as if he let his ego go unchecked because he felt he had nothing left to lose. In a weird way it makes me think of Walter White becoming Heisenberg when he found out he had Cancer.

There are also rumors that many women had sex with him uncovered and not just prostitutes either. The responsibility lands on them just as much honestly for agreeing to that. His life choices should have caused any woman that wanted to sleep with him to think twice.
