It does seem a little high but then I think it's a very similar offer to what Boston gave Hanley Ramirez (5 years, 90 million). If I were to choose between the two, while I like both players, I have much less of a problem giving a big contract to a guy who has been instrumental in winning 3 of the last 5 world series over the multi-talented but injury-prone player. Either way, if the Red Sox get both men, that left side of the infield is going to look real stout.

If they get either guy, the left side is stout. If they get both, HanRam is going to left field. No way they move Bogaerts from short. Unless they pull the trigger on a deal for Hamels (also a dumb idea).

Yeah, this has to be the plan. Bogaerts will play SS, Sandoval 3B, Ramirez LF. Cespedes and Middlebrooks are goners.

Napoli and Ortiz are both in the last year of their deals, so you could see Hanley or Sandoval move over to 1B or DH in the future. Ortiz has a couple of options yet and obviously Boston will keep him for as long as he wants to play, though Napoli might be let go.
