Happy Thanksgiving everybody! You know what I'm thankful for? The fact that NXT doesn't give a damn that it's a major American holiday, and has aired a brand-new episode at a time when there is nothing on television. I'm also thankful for a heaping mess of NXT wrestlers. Let's see what the holiday holds for us.

I'm thankful for Tyler Breeze's entrance. I've talked about it before, but it's a delight absolutely every time he comes out. His opponent for tonight is Marcus Louis, and man-o-man am I surprising thankful for him and his monster routine. Marcus wanders out to the ring with a towel over his head, so Tyler gets on the mic to bitch him out. He calls Marcus the uggo of uggos and refuses to touch him. Then he rips the towel off his head, says "nobody will ever love you," and nails him with the Beauty Shot for the win. That was wonderful.
Match Rating: Not Actually a Match
But we're not done! Marcus gets up and wanders out of the ring, stopping to eat(?) Breeze's ring vest. We get a "this is awkward!" chant from the crowd to take us to our first break. When we come back, we get to see Marcus sadly wandering out of the NXT arena. I hope when we come back next week, he's still wandering across Florida, dressed only in his wrestling tights.

Amore and Cass are out, but they're just here to bring out Carmella. I don't know if the crowd saw her or what, but they are hot to see her opponent, Old Blue Pants. I want them to sign Old Blue Pants, and keep her with the name Old Blue Pants. Cass and Carmella ought to be thankful for Enzo, who is presently keeping three people afloat with his charisma. Anyhoo, this match is just as squasharific as the last time they wrestled, and Carmella does her leg choke thing for the win (does this move have a name that I missed?)
Match Rating: Squash City, USA

We get some comments from Finn Balor about his match with Tyson Kidd tonight. He's not awesome on the mic here, although it kind of seems like he was legit surprised by the camera crew while he was getting ready.

Next match is the Lucha Dragons vs. Jason Jordan and Ty Dillinger. I'm thankful for Kalisto, not only for his awesome high-flying, but also for his boundless lucha enthusiasm. I really like Jordan and Dillinger as well, who have a really great entrance despite the fact that its got no bells and whistles to it; it's just a cool little back and forth they do as they come out. They seemed to mark the two of them for bigger things a couple months ago, but that's really faded. Anyhoo, the match itself. Jordan and Dillinger do a cool reverse Irish whip into a double boot in the turnbuckle, but when they go for it a second time, Sin Cara reverses it. Sin Cara hits a tope on one guy on the ramp, while Kalisto nails the SDS for the pin. I'm going light on details, because this match was good, but a bit sloppy in a couple spots.
Match Rating: Generally Good Stuff

We get another teaser for Not Kevin Steen - he's Kevin Owens now, which is a name a person might have, and therefore better than 90% of what these poor bastards get saddled with. It's a good teaser; it makes him look tough.

Bayley's out for some interview time. I'm thankful all year round for Bayley and her badass suplexes. Bayley's out to tell us she doesn't care for bullies. She's dealt with them all her life, and her mom always told her that bullies are cowards. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch immediately come out to make a liar of Bayley's mom. They actually manage to get into the ring with perfect synchronicity, which is pretty cool. Bayley ain't waiting on them to start this party, so she absolutely levels Sasha with a stiff forearm shot. However, they are two, and she is not Steve Austin or John Cena, and so she falls. Refs come out to break this one up.

Let me just say, there are so many interlocking pieces in their women's title scene right now that I'm actually not certain where they intend to go with it. I figure the logical endgame is that Bayley gets a little better each time she faces Charlotte, and eventually beats her for the title, but they've got like five or six options how they get there. I'm thankful for the NXT women's division in its entirety.

We get comments from Tyson Kidd and Natalya on tonight's main event, and man, am I ever thankful for these two. Forget the content of their promo; their body language absolutely kills it here. The interviewer asks for Natalya's comments, and you can see Kidd getting increasingly frustrated as she's talking. When he finally butts in, she comes back with this incredible patronizing fake smile. Tyson wraps things up by telling Natalya that he has to go Facetime with the cats before his match, and these two have the best act going in the WWE today.

Before our main event, we get a special short film starring the Vaudvillains! Everyone should know at this point how thankful I am for the Vaudvillains, but I am especially thankful for this bit. There's so little justice I can do by describing this thing in words, but it's about the Vaudvillains stopping the Lucha Dragons from robbing a bank, and there's a training montage in the middle where Simon Gotch fights a bear. Just...just go look this thing up and come back, okay? These two guys, these guys are the best.

Our main event is Tyson Kidd vs. Finn Balor, and let me just say that the last few weeks have been a master class on how to introduce a new guy as a Big Deal. Everything about Balor's presentation, but especially his music and entrance (he's got Final Boss music, for crying out loud) emphasizes how important he is, and the screencap for this episode on the network was just his name flashing in the big screen (is it called a TitanTron in NXT?). With the way they've killed him with their dumb booking, I have more faith in Balor as the future of the company than I do in Seth Rollins, a guy who's been a main event player for like two years now. I'm thankful that they're getting Finn Balor right. Anyhoo, before the match starts, we get a quick rundown of the card for Takeover:(R)Evolution - they're doing that thing again! We've got Neville vs. Zayn for the title, Lucha Dragons vs. Vaudvillains for the tag belts, Charlotte vs. Sasha for the women's title, and the Ascension vs. Itami and Balor. Probably a couple other things yet to be announced, too. Match starts with some solid chain wrestling, which seems to be standard NXT main event style at this point. This leads Kidd winding up outside on the ramp, and of course Balor gets ready to dive. If you don't know what comes next, you haven't been paying attention, as Kidd ducks behind Natalya to save himself, and Balor backs off. Kidd takes control, but eventually Balor hits a pele into a brainbuster to turn things around. Kidd comes back with a slingshot elbow drop, but Balor get his knees up to block it. Things are just getting good, when out come the Ascension mess things up. I'm going to call this a No Contest.
Match Rating: I Severely Wish There Had Been More of a Contest
Itami comes out to help his bro, and we get a pull-apart brawl to close us out.

I really hope they find something cool for Tyson Kidd to do at Takeover, but otherwise the card is really shaping up. The last thing I'm thankful for this holiday is all the folks who bother to read these recaps, and especially those of you who chime into the discussion. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving and picks up some cool Black Friday Deals, and I'll see everybody back here next week.

100% agreement on Balor. Everything they hzve done to build him up as a huge deal is superb.

Everyone rightfully talks up Enzo, but Big Cass is SEVERELY underrated on the mic (the Hey Arnold! reference from the other week was the best thing). Of course, the two of them together are simply amazing.

Tyson Kidd s simply killing it right now. Seriously, amazing.

And finally, any time people talk about how great the NXT women's division is, lets remember whose training them and why it's likely for the best she's training and not wrestling.

Blue Pants getting an Austin-level pop from the NXT crowd was incredible.

Yeah, I was definitely being unfair to Cass, who's really upped his game since Enzo's return. But even though I actually prefer his more understated approach, he's still working off of Enzo. Enzo's steering that particular ship.

As for the trainers in general, I love those guys. Not just Sara del Rey, but all of them. They do an amazing job, not just with the really green recruits, but even with the established hands, bringing them into the WWE style while still keeping them unique. They do dynamite work down there.

Leva Bates' Kitty Pryde cosplay is ridiculously over. Sign her now and just keep calling her Blue Pants.
