Saw a blip while watching a show on Axis with a "coming in 2015" showing a NJPW clip or two. This is a 13 episode run, so not sire how long it may go on. Is anybody here up to date on NJPW? I would like to get into it, but am unsure of the quality.

Tha Sheetz have reported that they'll feature "best of" matches, which is good on its face but also may lend itself to severe overproduction to the point that it's not what I want to watch. The first show will feature a match from January 2013 (2013, as in the year before this one), but ...shoot, even NJPW from two years ago is STILL probably better than 80 or even 90% of the crap I sit through today, so I'm on board. I just hope Mauro Ranallo doesn't yell as much as I think he's gonna (and Josh Barnett is AT LEAST as interesting as I think he could be in a commentary role).

It'll be Friday nights at 9pm ET? I think, that's the general idea.

What they're saying now is that they'll be full matches, not something edited down. That's still a bit of a question, since that Tanahashi/Okada match comes not far off from an hour TV show. Meltzer has all these ideas of them doing features to get over the individual wrestlers but my experience with how CMLL and AAA have aired internationally is they'll probably just roll out the matches and hope the announcers can explain everything.
The big idea is the first 5-6 episodes will focus primarily on the Okada/Tanahashi feud, as to be a catchup for people who haven't been watching them on uStream/DailyMotion and then the later episodes will go with other people (and possibly get into 2014?) I know of wonder how many English-speaking people are actually watching NJPW regularly - I think it's more a lot of the 'right' people are watching it enough to spread the word - and I'd guess this will still be mostly new to people who find it.
It's AXS so it doesn't need to been seen much to be a success and keep going and it won't cost much if they're just flying Ranallo and Barnett to LA to do voice overs on already produced matches. AXS is just looking for something to bring more attention to the MMA they already have and NJPW's anxious to break internationally; if this has any legs, it's likely more current stuff will turn up (but maybe not so current as to take away from PPV broadcasts.)
NJPW has a press conference on 12/01 about NJPW World project. That's been strongly hinted to be something along the lines of the WWE Network. They were going to announce this deal at that event too originally, and it might give a better of what NJPW is generally planning.
