AJ is rumored to move to Raw, so pencil in Shinsuke. KO and Zayn just came from Raw so they'll be staying on Smackdown, so put them down to win somehow. Asuka's streak won't end yet, so she's taking the title.
Four big matches that went against common thought (for those who picked them right, spare me the link to your post here, please). Will be interesting to see where they go from here. If nothing else, I'm excited to see Shinsuke as a heel. And it'll be interesting to see if Brock has actually resigned or if they just saved a title change for a Shocking Swerve on the post-Mania Raw. | InVerse

| #7 Posted on 9.4.18 0930.41 Reposted on: 9.4.25 0933.13 | I'll give Rhonda Rousey (and Stephanie McMahon, HHH, and Kurt Angle) credit. That match may have exceeded expectations far more than any match ever. That was pretty much the only match I focused on during the entire show.
The rest of the show was really good if you didn't watch the ending of 90% of the matches.
Also, I would like to second Fuck Brock Lesnar. The main event was so horrible that I almost went to cancel my subscription as soon as Brock won, but I took Tenken's advice and went to watch Buddy Murphy vs Kalisto from the latest 205 Live. That entire episode was better than all of Wrestlemania and the main event was great. Back during his NXT tag title run, I was touting Buddy Murphy as one of the most interest wrestlers in the company, I'm glad to see the company finally noticed as well. So yeah, if you haven't seen that yet, go watch it. Fox should really negotiate to put NXT and 205 Live on network television and maybe drop Raw & Smackdown down to a 30 minute clip show on Fox Sports 8. The world would be a better place for it. | StaggerLee

Angle is distractingly limited in the ring, and he needs to stay out of it from here on.

UGH that's pathetic. I know you're a "PG Company" but you can still have a little blood, at your flagship PPV, if it helps the story along.
Plus the "The official is putting on his gloves" remark was stupid. Just let the scene tell the story.

Also, part of me wanted to see Cesaro give that kid the giant swing. That's a relatively safe enough move to perform on a ten-year-old, right?
Also, ten other matches happened.

Rousey was great. The clear highlight. Everything else was just weird. I kinda knew Charlotte was going to beat Asuka, because Vince has to be looking ahead for Rousey opponents and sees more to gain with Charlotte than with Asuka in that respect.
Brock beating Reigns is really, really funny. I want this all to just end already, but it looks like we have another 3 years of winter ahead of us.
I didn’t really care who won between AJ and Nakamura, just a little disappointed that the match finished when it did. Nakamura as a heel could be a much-needed change for him, but it’ll be a bummer if he loses his theme music.
EDIT: I can’t believe Daniel Bryan wrestled and I already forgot about it. Not much to say there except that I hope he gets to do something of substance this year.

| #16 Posted on 9.4.18 1628.07 Reposted on: 9.4.25 1629.01 | Much to my shock & surprise I was much entertained by the show. There was no backstage crap, no real time wasters. Solid action from everyone.Ok maybe the one that didn't matter at all to me was the US title 4-way.
Bryan being back in the ring felt good. Man, he was intense. The Cena-Taker thing was great including John being in the crowd and then Elias fucking things up almost. Taker's gear appearing then disappearing was a nice touch (even though the lightning is still corny as fuck) The Rousey/Angle vs Steph/HHH match was great sports ENTERTAINMENT. much better than i expected (I thought Steph would keep running until she couldnt run no more) The SD tag match was short. The Raw tag match was WTF... Both women's matches were solid though I wouldn't have broken Asuka's streak there. AJ-Nakamura was about to get stiff & good when it ended. I don't like WWE's "you'll get more at next show" motto.
Brock-Roman...yeah...that was weird. To be honest, I didn't dislike it and brock winning was a surprise. But what grates me is that both guys can do more I think. But Brock is now stuck in the "do the suplex' pattern and Roman is probably not allowed to do anything but the SUPERMAN PUNCH as well. So you get two guys exchanging 'knock-out blows' and....that's it. Add to that the believe that Roman was going to in and we were more focused on picking the match apart than enjoying it. Seems the crowd also was determined to not give their attention (they were fine up until then despite the 5-7 hour duration of the show)
That's one thing to give WWE credit for. They managed to pace the card nicely. A thumbs up for WM even though I would've booked some stuff differently.

| #17 Posted on 9.4.18 1644.48 Reposted on: 9.4.25 1644.57 | Decent show. I didn't get winded until around 11 and the AJ/Shinske match, at which point I started doing everything but giving them the attention they deserved. I was done when it was main event time. They still could've cut a few things - the U.S. title match really, PAIGE HERE (which is the worst edited and most awkwardly shot thing they've aired in years - why do we need to be right up on her face?), and such.
There was nothing to the Andre battle royal. The cruiserweight match was fun. I enjoyed the womens battle royal, specifically the NXT women getting their showcase and the Sasha/Bayley interaction (the Naomi thing at the end was dumb... Bayley finally gets that huge pop you want and then boom).
The I-C title match was fine. Cool of Finn to be doing the socially active thing.
Kinda shocked by the Asuka/Charlotte ending, but meh.
Really should've put the belt on Rusev for the night and, if nothing else, give him a Ryder reign where he loses it Tuesday to Jinder.
The mixed tag was great. I'm sold on Rhonda.
The SDL tag title match happened.
I enjoyed Cena in the audience. Glad the match ended up just being a greatest hits match.
Daniel's return was fun once we got past cool dad Shane, sickly and all, keeping up with two top-notch opponents.
Nia should have squashed Alexa like a bug, but I'm glad she's getting a run.
As said before, AJ/Shinske is where I got bored and I probably owe them a rewatch. I did like the twist at the end.
Braun and Nicholas were something. I like nice guy Braun who can also crush you in ten seconds. I was thinking we'd end up getting a Santino-like-debut, but nope.
That main event fell flat. So flat. Nobody came off looking better. Good thing nobody backstage heard the audience or online reaction and we get a rematch at the Greatest Royal Rumble!

Liked the hot mic "Get in there" by Braun. He walked by some Indy guys before he picked the kid. I was hoping for a NJPW pick. Guess they were there for Nakamura?
These guys don't do long term booking so I'm giving them a bit of short term credit with the shocking Asuka loss and her post match speech that when Nakamura was doing it too I totally bought it. Turn shocked me. Zayn and Owens gone they need top heels.
It should of been Rusevmania. Only match I was disappointed with.
I went to bed after the RAW tag. I though it was going to be like Brock/Goldberg I.

| #19 Posted on 9.4.18 1945.18 Reposted on: 9.4.25 1945.27 | To further do the important work of condensing and retconning as much of the last few 'Mains out of existence:
Wrestlemania 31 and Wrestlemania 34 both end with Roman Reigns failing to defeat Brock Lesnar, so they can be combined into a single match where Roman fails to beat Brock Lesnar.
Roman retiring the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 33 has been retconned out of existence.
HHH finally, after years of desperate attempts to get himself a big Wrestlemania moment, finally got his in the Rousey match, so we can officially wipe HHH/Reigns at 32 off the books, along with HHH/Sting at 31 and probably even HHH/Rollins at 33.
We can also probably just agree that Lesnar/Goldberg 1 at 20 was good instead of bad and eliminate that match from 33, and pretend that Cena proposed to Nikki after seeing Miz become a father this year, which means the only moments of lasting, necessary historical significance from the entirety of 'Mains 31-33 are: -Hardys Return -The Rock owns a flamethrower | Tenken347

Well, yes and no. Allow me to elaborate as to why I hate Brock. Basically, I agree with the Sad Dog, Roman Reigns - Brock's lazy. Not just in the sense that he's never there (although, also true), but in the sense that he is Bad at wrestling now. A match where he does 4 different moves is a rarity at this point, and there's no psychology to anything he does. He just keeps doing a couple of moves and not selling anything until he wins. As a personality, he offers nothing. Even Heyman kind of ran out of things to say a while ago, so even when he is on the show, he doesn't really bring anything with him. They call him an attraction, but show me how much he moves the ratings when he's on RAW, or how many Network subscriptions he sells when he's on a PPV. Show me how much he bumps house show attendance - oh, right, he's not that kind of attraction. So, Brock Lesnar is all hype - hype without merit; hype without value.
So yeah, on the one hand, if Roman was the kind of performer the company thinks/dreams/forces him to be, then yeah, Brock'd be gone by now. But if Brock was any kind of value-add in the slightest, I wouldn't mind being stuck with him. And it is super frustrating in a company that's as stacked with talent as WWE is - Rusev's been proving for a while now that he IS the kind of once-in-a-lifetime performer they want, they just don't want it to be HIM for some reason. But here we are. |
