So, one of my favorite shows, canceled after 6 years.

One of the only shows to retain audience on Fridays - I always watched it, but like every other show I watch, on DVR - but I know plenty of people that liked it.

Yep, it was decidedly right wing, Is that Allen? Possibly. There were certainly deviations of that. I really liked Molly Ephraim (and I like her in Brockmire too) on the show. Ryan Masterson is a great foil for Allen on the show too and he actually won a few this last season.

I wonder if it was politics or contract negotiations that killed this show, and I am hopeful that a netflix or an Amazon or a Hulu will pick it up (Hulu, this might finally get me to subscribe to you, just sayin').

I'd call this the most suprising cancellation of the season (unless you count Fox Cancelling the O'Reilly Factor)

I enjoyed the first season, but that's where I stopped and got distracted by other shows.

Really, I think the Tim Allen bank move right now might be going the Netflix route with a Home Improvement spinoff much like Fuller House.

This show grew on me a ton, but I'm not surprised that it's being cancelled. Six years seems like a pretty good run, especially on Friday nights.

It would be if it wasn't the highest rated show on Friday nights

Looks like maybe production costs?

This time, there was no negotiating or bargaining, with ABC simply deciding against another season.

Very possibly on the production costs. I just have been wondering if the political stances of Allen have been a contributing factor.

and if there is a possible Netflix or Hulu extension on the horizon

Ken Levine, a veteran TV writer/director/producer, commented on the cancellations of both this show and "Two Broke Girls". Levine blames it on the fact that the networks themselves didn't own the shows outright:

That may be. Gosh I thought Two Broke Girls was the shittiest show I have ever watched. I really gave it a try both at the start (Garrett Morris love) and down the line. But the "Comedy" was really not my style.

Yeah, I do recall Last Man standing did not get the "and now ABC's ....." treatment.

That was one reason that the Terminator show got cancelled, because Fox did not own it.
