Clearly I missed the part last week where they hyped the hell out of this week's STAR-STUDDED main event -- Angle vs. Joe vs. Abyss vs. Rhino vs. Sting vs. Christian -- right? 'Cause they wouldn't just not bother to mention it, being as it was taped 2 1/2 weeks ago, right? If they were going to give away a match like that, they'd try and use it to boost ratings, right?

(Of course, the match was about six minutes long, so I guess if they had hyped it, people would be complaining about that, instead. Still -- sometimes I just don't know.)

Anyway. Other matches were so short as to nearly not be there at all. VKM continues to be annoying. Christian and Tomko are great. Sting and Abyss is...interesting; I'm actually interested to see where it goes. The Angle/Joe promo was awesome.

Not stoked for the PPV -- there's some promising stuff, sequel-wise, like Joe vs. Angle and AMW vs. LAX, but then there's there's an X Division thing that hasn't been explained at all, a bikini contest with Eric Young, and VKM will be "featured" in some "way." Ehhh.

Way past my bedtime and that's all I got.

I would like to buy a pair of Iron Sheik's curved-toed, loaded boots and spend an hour kicking Vince Russo in the nuts at varying speeds and force. How do you blow an All Star War between Sting, Abyss, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Christian, and Rhino? Russo finds a way. After over a year undefeated, Samoa Joe is soooo pinnable now. Pin Joe? No problem. One move'll do it. Argh!

I laughed out loud when Abyss shook Sting's hand and ended up taking a Black Hole Slam. After all these years Sting refuses to relinquish his Most Trusting Babyface Sucker Championship. He's held that title for a span of about two decades with no end in sight.

Fast forwarding past VKM is the best way to stay sane. It also helps when Christy says, "Up next: VKM!" in her bumpers. Thanks for the warning. Yet another reason I love her, she's looking out for what I don't wanna see.

Line of the night:

Kevin Nash: "What do you see [in the inkblot]?"
Alex Shelley: "My heart, after you broke it."

I love those two.

Honorary mention to Nash's "Jim Hellwig" reference after Senshi repeatedly said "Warrior."

Out of all of the talent on that roster & they repeatedly cram Eric Young down our throats. Enough of this guy already ...

While I don't really blame TNA for blowing their wad on the December PPV, they really should have saved Joe/Angle II for a later date ...

And Christian is slowly climbing the ranks again as my favorite wrestler.

What is with TNA taking commercial breaks like every 3-4 minutes?? That is the most annoying thing about that show. And I would much rather have 2 more minutes of the main event than the video recap that ended the show. I don't need highlights of a show I just watched!

At least Nash and Christian are able to overcome the Russo mucky muck and provide a few hight points on a show that had little else to offer.

Joe was treated like a chump last night, not as the next big thing in pro wrestling that he had been hyped as for the last 18 months. Even if he wins Sunday, he still looks like a chump. Thanks Russo.

Last time was the first time I've sat down and watched an entire wrestling show all the way through in months...and the first time I've really watched more than a couple minutes of TNA in years (probably since they had that one-dollar PPV special a few years ago). Impressions, from someone who hasn't watched much TNA:

Didn't get to see much of him in the ring, but Sting's still got a lot of presence to me, but, then, I used to be a big fan.

Homicide, even in the brief outing I saw, seemed very talented, and I can see why I've heard so much talk about LAX around the boards.

The Paparazzi segment reminded me of why I've always cut Kevin Nash so much slack. The Fire Island bit, the Warrior stuff, the pipe...gold.

The VKM stuff is just annoying. It's nothing against their particular performances (at least they're not wrestling), but calling out D-X is beyond useless. Calling Shawn Michaels by his real name is so inside and snarky that it just makes you roll your eyes. Yes, congratulations, you know what's on his birth certificate. We get it. Shut up.

I really enjoyed the Sting/Abyss stuff, as the whole idea of the face trying to redeem the heel is great storyline fodder. How well it ends up being played out is a question, but I like that it's at least being tried.

The Warrior's Way is a kick-ass finisher.

The main event was sadly abbreviated (and I was irritated by Rhino's sudden, if predictable, withdrawal from it), but it was cool seeing all those guys in the ring together. I've only seen a bit of Joe, but I've liked everything I've seen. It was a bit sloppy altogether, but, as a hype segment for the PPV, I think it worked fine. Classic Kurt Angle with the turning on Joe at the end.

On the whole...I really liked the show. A lot more than I expected to, honestly, since I normally hate Russo's scattershot booking. Maybe the flaws show up more if I watch in the long term, I don't know. I see his fingerprints all over VKM and the Tomko/Abyss stuff (which has a sinister whiff of Katie Vick that I desperately hope they avoid), but it didn't really detract from the show for me. Of course, I liked WCW, and this reminded me of that more than anything.

Eric Young should have been one of the hottest acts in the company after his face turn. They've completely blown the booking of him since.

Eric Young is certainly popular, but the problem with Eric Young (apart from his striking resemblance to Adam Sessler of X-Play) is that he absolutely sucks in the ring. To me, I don't care how fun a character is, if the matches are consistently terrible, I don't need him on my TV. Or make him an announcer or a manager or something where he can portray his character and not stink up the matches.

When Hemme made that announcement, I mentally said, "Coming up, another stupid, braindead segment with VKM." And then, by the end of the show, they actually *SAID* that at the PPV, there would be a bad skit with VKM. Only Vince Russo would think that promising a six-way match with six top stars was a bad idea, but promising a lame sketch (on a pay-per-view) is a good idea. How does this guy have a job again?

Ok seriously, ENOUGH with the VKM skits! This is the kind of shit that made Russo's WCW run seem so bush league back in 1999. I'd ask Vince McMahon to slip them a cease and desist order, but that would actually play into their hands. These skits are a huge cry for attention and good for WWE for not giving into them.

Every guy I talk to who's a wrestling fan agrees that WWE just keeps stumbling week-by-week, especially in light of last Sunday's abysmal PPV. And as much as I'd say this is the perfect time for TNA to jump in and be that competition that they're capable of being, they'll never reach that level with Vince Russo booking with his nonsensical Crash TV hogwash. And I don't need to repeat exactly what's wrong with jobbing Joe, since everyone else has done it so well.

Kevin Nash is not enough to save this show. And therein lies another problem, because when you're depending on KEVIN NASH to make a show watchable, you're in serious trouble.

I just can't help but find it more than amusing that VKM calls the DX skits dumb to the extreme and need to stop, and respond in kind with even dumber, less funny clips. That'll show em.

The PCS, now, that's a skit that people can get down with. The Jim Hellwig reference, Nash positive beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sonjay Dutt is on the juice, just awesomeness.

So it seems they're almost recycling the Rhino/Christian feud, but just inserting AJ in all of the sequences that Christian was in. Yeah, so maybe they didn't know each other in the past, but the rest of it is spot on.

This one was just hard to watch.

Well see, it's a war of attrition. VKM won't stop until DX does, and they figure their skits are so much worse that DX can't possibly hope to hold out against them.

Why would BG James make constant references to DX's pants and then not wear his? Why would they insult DX for their lame skits when they themselves don't wrestle? Are we supposed to consider VKM jesters, telling the truth because others are afraid? And now the shots at The Marine are just broadsides against the WWE in general, and not indicative of their frustration over the goofy DX skits.

Although, the angry DX created by the attack on Flair could be considered a victory for VKM, and I'm surprised they haven't tried to -- oh, right. They tape this stuff weeks in advance. Sort of limits the laser-like focus of their satire.

I'm a bit shocked at the earlier hype for Roode and Starr, only to see them marginalized to this degree. And I don't dig seeing the NWA champ sidelined so much by Christian and Tomko. Tomko just beat up the NWA champ.TOMKO.

If it wasn't for Joe and Angle, I'm not sure what the true top feud would be for this company. And seeing Sting wrestle a match in his shirt suggests he isn't the captivating and vital star he used to be.

I'm falling into apathy pretty darn quick with TNA.

My prediction for tomorrow: Abyss is swayed by Sting's proselytizing and "shows mercy" or "humanity" or whatever. This somehow allows Christian to take advantage, steal a pin and win the title. Next month's PPV main event is Sting & Abyss vs. Christian & Tomko.

If this pans out, I'll argue that Tomko needed this building up in order to make that match work.

Didn't Tomko beat up Cena once? 'Cuz I'm certain they had a little two or three-week mini-feud...

They had a one-night feud where Angle got Tomko to attack Cena in the opening segment, and Cena beat him pretty easily later that night.

yes, it was then when Tomko was getting a "push" and beating guys with some kind of knockout big boot.

It was actually a decent kick. But after the match with Cena he was back in Heat, teamed a bit with Snitsky and later was fired. At least this what i remember.

I believe Tomko quit, actually, after Goldust started teaming with Snitsky and Tomko kinda stopped being used.
