| #1 Posted on 17.8.17 0956.07 Reposted on: 17.8.24 0956.10 | I've just finished watching all 19 days of the G1 Climax tournament and feel that it definitely deserves a few words of praise on our forum.
Simply put, this is the greatest wrestling tournament I have ever seen. I'd never felt so invested in the outcome of wrestling matches since the late nineties.I know I'm waxing lyrical about NJPW, but this series of shows created some of the best one-on-one matches I think I've ever seen. It has definitely rekindled my love of pro wrestling. My wife will be glad to have me back now it has finished.
I've resisted giving away any of the results just in case some of you are still working your way through but, if nothing else, I recommend watching the final three days and their respective main events.
Did anyone else on this board catch any of it?

| #4 Posted on 19.8.17 0740.58 Reposted on: 19.8.24 0741.07 | Being one of the three people in the world who gets AXS, I just saw Day 1 last night. Naito-Ibushi was freakin' great, and I highly recommend tracking it down. Ibushi has been off doing his Tiger Mask W thing for the past few years, and I forgot how good he is. On the other hand, Tiger Mask W the anime is pretty fun, so I can see the appeal of doing that as well. Sidebar- If you are a fan of NJPW at all, you should probably watch this episode of Tiger Mask: http://www.crunchyroll.com/tiger-mask-w/episode-17-dont-be-a-softy-727907
This is the first new broadcast on AXS since the NJPW in America special, and I was curious if the announce team would improve after they got so much negative press. Nope. JR and Josh are just as terrible as always. You know, this is all pre-taped. You don't have to go with first take. You can look up the name of moves. You can get the wrestlers names right! A big problem is that they don't realize that Los Ingobernables de Japon are faces now. They aren't actually good guys, but have become so popular and cool that no one can boo them. Apparently, no one clued in Jim Ross. Also, Daryl Takahasi is lock to win best non-wrestler in all the year end internet awards. | dMp

Oh.. one "spoiler" - Shibata shows up (in the ring even) for the first time since his injury on Finals night. He looks so much better than I expected. The fool even bumps on his back. Insane. I hope he'll get through this.
Oh and the main events in the last 3 nights are simply amazing.

| #6 Posted on 27.8.17 0058.46 Reposted on: 27.8.24 0058.48 | I did watch this year's G1 on NJPWWorld.com. Everything was top notch this year and this was after thinking that they couldn't top last year. Very good shows all-around. Seeing Shibata back was really cool. I think the back bump tells me that he may be back sooner rather than later. I just never want to see those headbutts ever again if he does make it back. | texasranger9

It's to your advantage to win as fast and with the least amount of damage to your body as possible. It's not a cheap win. It's not a situation where you have to thrown them back in to protect your pride. It's not a lazy way to set up 50/50 booking. A top 4 competitor, a beloved baby face, and the IC Champ doesn't think it's beneath him. It help legitimize the tourney. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
