Instead we got Joanna coercing Elliot into tracking down the mystery caller via social engineering. I suppose the biggest question is why Mr. Robot disappeared when Elliot got the call. More importantly, the store emptied when Elliot lost track of him. I'm inclined to think that Elliot got pushed aside while another personality took over. If Tyrell isn't a secret third personality, I wonder if the caller knew how to take over Elliot's brain and bring something to the forefront in him. (Think River Tam going psycho due to subliminal messages in Serenity.) That said, I stand by my prediction that this season is going to end with Tyrell showing up in some form, if only to close out the mirror of him starting the season. Bonus points if he talks about something with a mask.
Nice that Angela decided to return to the light side in time to get a final kiss with Elliot and then apparently get abducted. I'm thinking Price is reigning her back in to bring her back over.
And I've been enjoying the subtle political references but what was up with China annexing Congo? Does Congo have a wealth of metals that China would want for manufacturing? After making White Rose seem like an oversized local threat with her involvement in Washington Twp, we're now back to China seemingly having far greater machinations in play. I might be conflating White Rose and China's ambitions, but that's only because I'm guessing White Rose is one of the two or three people more powerful than Price.
And Cisco has to be dead, right? I can't imagine that Darlene is. The "female-detective-knows-what's-up-plot-but-dumb-management-is-dumb" plot was done much better on Fargo, but I still enjoyed Dom tracking them down just in time to (hopefully) save them from the shooter. I figured that was too long a shot to kill Dom (and the way she was standing she was clearly going to see what was about to happen), so I was glad that she got there, but, well... I'd be surprised if Darlene was dead. But now she's gonna be in FBI custody and that's going to open a whole other can of worms.
And how long was that escalating tension music going on? It felt like it was building for the last 20 minutes of the show.

This scene was too weird for me. Something fishy is going on. A completely empty subway car? Nuh uh. I began to read this scene as similar to Elliot in the suddenly empty electronics store (and I like your guess for what was happening there). Then, the two mystery people appeared in front of Angela, and now I don't know anything.

And I was suckered in for the whole thing. There were points where there was kind of a lull in the action, but the music was just as strong. And in the back of my head, I knew it was kinda unnecessary, but damn if I wasn't tensed up the entire time. That steady-cam shot on the diner was AMAZING. | ALL ORIGINAL POSTS IN THIS THREAD ARE NOW AVAILABLE |
