This is very old but with the Macho Man DVD hitting stores this week, I thought it was appropriate to share. I haven't seen the DVD yet so I don't know if this segment is on it but it ought to be because this was a hilarious piece of business.

Mean Gene Okerlund ventures to Randy Savage and Elizabeth's "17 acre fortress-like estate" for an interview and classic character-based hilarity ensues. Excuse the crappy video quality but listen to how awesome Mean Gene and Savage are in their interactions. Gene was clearly and forever the best in wrestling history at this sort of comedic interviews.

Also, I never realized until now how much Elizabeth sounded like Kenneth from 30 Rock.

"Macho Madness is more seductive than sex!" A line that wouldn't be uttered today even though WWF then was aimed at kids like PG WWE is now.

I wonder how many times the cracked up and had to re-shoot this. Macho was awesome. I wish he would come back in some capacity today.

Funny how Mean Gene is still in his TUX at poolside.

Just classic.

These kinds of characters and personalities are sorely missing from today's product. Getting to know the guys you are watching makes you care more about the matches.

Who cares if guy in black trunks and short hair beats other guy in black trunks and short hair?

You hit the nail on the head. After this video I clicked over to watch the classic WM7 moment when Savage and Elizabeth reunited. People in the crowd were crying and I even got choked up a little, till Bobby Heenan made a funny. You couldn't get that kind of emotion today, because nobody cares about the characters, because they are all one dimensional, save the wrestlers who were around during the Attitude era. Liz and Savage not only had years of history, but layers and layers added to their characters over the years.

Also, I just want to say thanks for posting this, I almost forgot just how great Savage was in and out of the ring. Definitely one of my all time favorites, and one the of the greatest of all time. Maybe dare I say top 10 of all time?
