from the recent Randy Savage interview (sports.ign.com): "Take Andre The Giant, who I have respect for, but I know in his lifetime he didn't like me at all."
So, what's the legend of Andre's ill will towards Savage? Was there a specific incident? I never really heard anything about this, and the FAQ doesn't seem to say anything. Promote this thread! | | CANADIAN BULLDOG

By funny I meant odd, particularly based on the first post. | CANADIAN BULLDOG

| #6 Posted on 16.6.04 1437.02 Reposted on: 16.6.11 1437.24 | There was apparently a huge turnout of wrestlers, from what I remember. It was held at Andre's ranch in North Carolina, and Hogan delivered one of several euglogies. So it would probably have made sense for Savage, one of the senior WWF guys around that time, to show up. | BigVitoMark

Besides, during Savage's title run, Andre did work with him. If there had been serious problems there Andre could have done less to help Savage, including but not limited to refusing to work with him or injure him. Considering that plus Savage's position with the WWF at the time, I think his presence was an appropriate gesture even if they didn't get along as well as some others did. | Nate The Snake

| #8 Posted on 16.6.04 1937.45 Reposted on: 16.6.11 1937.59 | Judging by what Savage said in that interview, it was just Andre being Andre. He says something to the effect of "he either liked you or he didn't, and for whatever reason he decided he didn't like me." Savage goes out of his way to say in spite of Andre's dislike, he still had a lot of respect for him... so I'm not surprised that he went to his funeral. I mean, he was Andre the Giant.
As far as Warrior implying that there was a specific incident... well, who knows. I can't say that I trust his view of reality to jibe with anyone else's. If there was, it may've been something as simple as Andre not wanting to let Savage bodyslam him, in order to make The Slam Heard 'Round The World stay significant. Who knows... | Big G
