Hello.
Interested in new DVDs showing up for sale beginning this Tuesday? No? Why are you HERE? All WE'VE got is 325 new listings in a single page - that's 17 Blu-Ray, 13 HD DVD, 1 UMD and 294 DVDs - still the only place on the big ol'Internet where you can find something like this on one web page, as far as I know. (And I don't WANT to know if anybody else has this much time to waste, really, so let's leave it at that.)
This week is apparently KUBRICK week - and I don't mean the Japanese toymaker. If there's some significant anniversary revolving around ol' Stan, I sure couldn't figure it out. I DO know that Kim likes most of his films, so I wouldn't be surprised if a few of these appeared in our house Real Soon Now.
What do YOU like? Anything catch your eye? Let us know what excites you - or does the exact OPPOSITE of "excites" because sometimes it's even more entertaining to rant about something you think is AWWWWWW-FULL.
With that said, let's run down the rules for the people visiting us for the first time (welcome!):
For those of you who HAVEN'T been here before, these lists work like so:
Hovering over links should provide you with Amazon's current price.
CLICKING on those links will take you to the Amazon shopping cart with a friendly referral from The W - consider making your purchase (ANY purchase) through us and it'll place a few coins in our tip jar!
Because Amazon sometimes can't come correct with the information, you will see some exposition from me (or, more likely, a bad joke) in addition to the listing along with IMDb icons (which can be clicked to take you to a movie's IMDb listing) or tv.com icons (which can be clicked to take you to the relevant episode list from tv.com)
All links should open in new windows so you can come right back here after your research! (If you want - we're totally flexible about that!)
Please tell a friend (or vote this thread up Digg/Propeller/Newsvine/Reddit/&c. with a click of the icon(s) of your choice at the bottom of this post) about this post because it takes me a long time and I'm a big fan of more eyeballs! We're happy for you to email this link to others as well (a lot of people do that)!
Please feel free to add a reply and share your two cents about any of the listings you see here - show off your impressive knowledge, share your opinion about something you've seen, something you're looking forward to seeing, or make your own crappy jokes which are better than mine!
We also hope that if you buy something, you come back and tell us what you thought about it! This hardly ever happens, but we're wild eyed optimists....
If you have something to say but don't want to say it publicly (or register for the board), you can also email me direct at CRZ.DVD@gmail.com!
EYES WIDE OPEN, PLEASE...
PICK OF THE WEEK
Fantastic Planet (The W at Amazon) (La Plante Sauvage - Czechoslovakia/France, 1973) I wouldn't be a good nerd if I didn't notice the "35th Anniversary Edition" of this animated classic - I believe it's in pieces on YouTube if you want to watch it RIGHT NOW - also, I must include the standard disclaimer rant about what a bad idea it is to have a live-action remake coming up next year

The Sopranos: The Complete Seasons 1-6.2 Y'know maybe I was wrong when I identified previously the MOST EXPENSIVE ITEM OF THE WEEK - 'cause this is it, baby...by six dollars!!
The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones - Volume One (ABC, 1992-6) Unlike when the series aired, they've decided to group them chronologically, so you get seven episodes from all three seasons - Vol. 2 in December, Vol. 3 next year
Route 66 - Season 1, Vol. 1 (CBS, 1960-1) First 15 episodes of the series filmed on location includes one of the few times they were actually ON Route 66
WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT: Rey Mysterio: Biggest Little Man Hey, I saw this at Best Buy LAST week - they even had this package you can get much cheaper at Shopzone (shopzone.wwe.com)
This is where I wrestle with the comparisons of 15 seconds of awesomeness versus what probably isn't that good of a movie.

I laughed my ASS off when I saw this in theatres opening night, and thought it was amazing. Second thought/viewing has made it clear that a) it does not hold up at all on repeated viewings, and b) Not Another Teen Movie is by far the winner of the "Movie" genre.
Not as good as prior seasons (it's a clear 1>2>3 situation), but it's still quite good, and the whole is worth a grab. I'm just looking forward to Monday, when Kristen Bell will be a)hot, b) evil, and c) on a show that people actually watch.
So, after reading the plot description for Fantastic Planet it seems like it's almost exactly like the plot for Battlefield Earth, which came out eight years later.
Chalk up another one for L. Ron! First the goofy religion, then a 1050 page book based on someone else's plot. One has to wonder what else he cribbed.

I know, it's PD - but several of these, including the Lewis/Martin stuff, sounds great. I wonder if it'll price drop after a few weeks? But the Martin Lewis thing with At War with the Army and the Colgate hours is bound to kill me. That movie is great.

The documentaries that come packaged with this should make it worth the purchase. I'm shocked that so much came on such a forgettable series. Someone obviously put a lot of love into this one.
I remember watching this as a kid and wondering why the hell they didn't just bother to call them "Super Friends". Hell, if they wanted to distance themselves from the name that bad, they could have called them...I dunno...the JUSTICE LEAGUE! I'm sure there's a story behind changing their name to the Super Powerful Superheroes of Galactic Guardianness Team, but I've never had that much time on my hands to actually look it up.
EDIT: And only after making this post did I see the irony of what I just posted. I have successfully zinged myself.

Honestly, the target market for BBT isn't "geeky" individuals; it's just a formulaic generic sitcom that uses stereotypes of what Hollywood *thinks* is a geeky reference but that's about it.
