Talk about one of the craziest races not only in Daytona 500 history but NASCAR history.
I found it ironic that a race delayed over 24 hours due to rain was stopped for 2 hours because the freaking track caught on fire.
Glad to see Kenseth win since he seems like a legitimately nice guy. I'm really wondering if my boy Stewart is ever going to win this race. He was just hanging around waiting to go until Stenhouse wrecked him in the tri-oval.
All in all, I thought it was a decent race. I really feel bad for the crews who have to truck all the way to Charlotte to get ready to head to Phoenix.
What I really loved about Fox's coverage was how they would do the 'side-by-side' commercials during CAUTION laps and yet throw it to a full commercial break during actual green flag racing. Kudos, guys.
I'm elated that my driver could win his 2nd 500, thus silencing all the haters who said his 2009 win wasn't legit because it was a rain shortened race (an opinion I'm sure they would stand by 100% if their own favored driver won a rain shortened race).
In the parlance of Daniel Bryan I say: "YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!"
Once I figured out what was being telecast down here was actually live.
That crash was crazy. I can't believe they didn't call the race (I'm not saying they should have, just in most other racing marques that I've watched, that would have been race over). How long was that delay? 2+ hours.
I was explaining to mates tonight who didn't see any of the race what happened. Their consensus was only in Nascar would you get someone bolting a jet engine onto the back of an F250 to remove debris from the track under yellow. That is so Awesome!
Fox seemed to go for a lot of commercial breaks.
I wish the commentators would stop calling them "stock cars". I know the history of the sport, but these machines of today are purpose built from the ground up race cars. Nothing stock about them.
Nascar gets a lot of shit put on it by "serious racing fans" but I reckon they get a lot right. Great racing from flag to flag and I love the concept of the green checker. Finishing a race under yellow is so lame. And I see they're running fuel injection this year. Do you think they'll ever get independent rear suspension instead of the live rear axle?

Actually, JIMMIE JOHNSON crashed and Danica got caught up in the aftermath that is common to plate racing (or crashes on any tracks that happen right after starts/restarts).
They would have ended the race had any big name driver been leading the race but they didn't want Dave Blaney to win the race off a fluke.
This is so dumb. OF COURSE they were going to try to get the race restarted if possible. Even if Junior was winning. Any race that doesn't finish with a - you know - RACE is wholly unsatisfying and NASCAR knows that.

By "four", you mean "three", and by "crashed" you mean "gotten wrecked". There is a difference. NONE of Danica's crashes over the course of Speedweeks were her fault.
And Kurt Busch (who is talented enough that he has won a championship) actually DID crash/get wrecked and ruin FOUR cars this week - not including his practice spin/crash last Friday - so it can happen to anyone out there.
Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. Fuck shit shit fuck shit I sold out when I did my job. Fuck fuck fuck shit fuck. Sorry had to do it....

I thought after the first couple laps until the trackifre that it was a great race. Good to see Burton and Biff up there leading, looks like Jr is having his usual promising start and the glory boys start at the end.
Satisfying.
We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

I found the 'side by side' commercials weird yet hilarious, especially the one where they were really focused on the group of racers (Junior, Keselowski, 2 or 3 others) walking down the track as if it was a power walk race instead of a car race.
Overall, it was a pretty good race to watch, considering the 30 some odd hours we had to wait out the rain to start it. I can do without the Danica hype. I said it before and I'll say it again: like Junior, she's a good driver. But until they actually win a race, the media needs to stop stuffing them our throats and focus on those who are actual winners and champions. Like Kenseth, now a 2-time 500 winner along with at least 20+ Sprint Cup and Nationwide victories each and a Sprint Cup championship. I think he really gets overlooked as one of the best drivers of his generation due to his 'bland' personality (doesn't seem any blander than JJ or some of the others, if you ask me).
And while Kenseth won the race, I think Keselowski won big too with his twittering during the red flag. He's quickly becoming one of my favorites in all of NASCAR.

You should STOP saying that about Junior if that is your criteria since the man actually has 18 Cup wins, over 20 Nationwide wins, two Nationwide championships, and a Daytona 500 win.

OK, I meant to say in his case when he wins again. Sorry, but it's a 'what have you done for me?' situation IMO. How many of those wins have come in the last 3 years?
Don't get me wrong. I like Junior. I really hope he does get a win soon and gets in the chase again this year. But I do not think he is the best driver in all of NASCAR and shouldn't be lauded as such. I mean, you can't really say that he deserves more credit than Kenseth, do you? I just find it crazy that the media focuses on the names instead of the stats. For instance: here we are two days after the race and are they talking about Kenseth's great ride, his journey into NASCAR with help from his long-time friend and former crew chief Robbie Reiser, the fact that he's racing for a championship without a full time sponsor? Nope, the front page of Yahoo is talking about Danica's high school picture (sports.yahoo.com). Seriously.

Tate vs. Ronda Rousey on 3/3 is pretty much the biggest women's match since Carano/Cyborg. Either one of them has potential to break into the mainstream IMO.
