I love all of the TNA guys winning awards (when was the last time someone from outside WWE won wrestler of the year?), and then WWE wins both best and worst promotion.
Uhhhhh... Somebody has to make sense of this for me. I can understand historical sentiment. But, really, seriously, come on. I FFWD this tub o' pudge faster than I do Jeff Jarrett! He promos adequately. He shows up with an adequate "grr-grr, bff-bff" face on cue. He bleeds satisfactorily for a Kurt Angle headbutt. I'm clearly missing *all* the stellar qualities that put him anywhere above "satisfactory".
I'm just not seeing it. Can anybody wrap some words around the apparent love, please?
Best gimmick should have gone to Jimmy "Emo for Lacey" Jacobs. In fact, several other creations of ROH should have won, or are they exempt? They certainly should have won ROH.
And who pray tell underrates Shelton Benjamin as a wrestler? Nobody on the Internet for sure.
The Imposter Kane Vs. Kane Classic match was nowhere near the worst match of the year. Kane/Big Show at Backlash, Shelton/Viscera at NYR, Boogeyman/Booker T at 'Mania, Angle/Henry at the Rumble and many others were a lot worse. And if the Bash was the worst show of the year then it can't have been too bad a twelve months, as it had a very good tag title match, a god main event, and decent matches between Finlay/Regal and Hardy/Helms.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
I thought TNA was more interesting this year, but it's pretty much flipping a coin these days when it comes to Best Promotion, being that there are only two North American ones that are high-profile.
I remember looking at WM22 on paper and thinking it would be a disaster, but it turned out really well and I'm glad it won PPV of the year.
Angle/Henry at the Rumble was pretty bad, but I think that was mainly because of its placement on the card and the stupid ending. No way it should have followed the Rumble and Cena/Edge, but they positioned it because of the silly theatrics at the end.
I can't really argue any of these winners. I have heard good things about the MOTY, but have yet to see it. Good for ROH for nabbing such a major award.
And Samoa Joe was quite deserving, even if he is pudgy as described above. Vader wasn't cut out of stone either, but nobody really argued that he was a supreme bad ass.
Dean! Have you been shooting dope into your scrotum? You can tell me! I'm hip!
This is one of my favorite times of the internet year, I was really broken up that I missed them last year. I think it's great that CRZ has kept these going for as long as he has.

Here's the official description "To be given to the person whose ability merits a far greater push than the person receives. There may be many such people, but the winner of this award should have the most ability with least push."
So basically the people are saying he belongs in the Main Event or up in that area. This really could be the Matt Hardy Award.

I actually thought Finlay would take some of these awards, especially brawler. The man had a great year, but the power of Samoa Joe was just too much this time.
I was happy to see others thought CM Punk was as overrated as I did.
