They don't really need help, they were doing pretty well before. If they get 90% of what they had before (and they'll surely do better in the very short term because of the publicity), CBS is happy. They got the same kind of guy, will do the same kind of show, they hope the same people will like it. I don't know if anyone on the internet who discuss TV show quality are going to mention show after the first episode of the next season, but that's not their audience.
They should have Kutcher play Sheen's role on the show without any changes to the character. Same name, same wardrobe, same haircut, etc etc. That would be interesting.

If that's the route they want to go I say they give the ball to Sarah Chalke. She knows how to run that play better than anyone.
