Let's all spend the next six days pining for an appearance on RAW, when the message is just as likely about something completely different.
Sorry, what I meant to say was, let's have some fun. Sting's codes are not indecipherable, but this one seems a little unsure of itself...
The fourteenth day of the seventh month in the year two thousand fourteen is special for Battleground... = Oh my. HHH to announce Sting's debut...as referee of the Fatal Four-Way title event. Odd truth - there's no point.
To close the loop, here's the video promo that aired on Raw
Sting is a pre-order bonus. Ultimate Warrior was the pre-order bonus last year, and was released as DLC on 01/07 (about 3 months after release) for $2.
WWE clearing the way for Ultimate Warrior to be in the game last year and Ultimate Warrior agreeing to be in the game started the ball rolling towards his official return and HOF induction last year. At last word, Sting still had an open offer for a Legends deal (and minimal amount) and neither side was in a hurry to sign that deal. Sting doesn't need the money, but I would imagine he'd like more respect than a token deal. Maybe a strong reaction here will get them to figure it out - or maybe they'll inevitably make a deal when WWE starts trying to put together next year's Hall of Fame and realizes they need a big name.
I'd still be shocked if there was ever more a few token cameo appearances. There's unlikely to be one more run.
Savage was DLC in WWE 13 and Goldberg was in 2k14. Neither have been inducted in the HoF which would be a much bigger deal so hopefully WWE inc. continues to see that rebuilding bridges is a good thing.
Cole: "Yeah, thanks to Kane. You should buy Kane a Rolex watch for what he did for you."
Rollins: "Oh don't be silly, Kane doesn't wear watches."
As a Sting fan, there was nothing more gratifying than hearing the massive pop over the commercial and then the crowd completely turning on it when they found out it was for a videogame.
Sting doesn't need to be gradually reintroduced to this audience. They seemed very familiar.
If it's Paul Heyman's production company that's responsible for this ad, like they were for Warrior's last year, they did an incredible job yet again and really nailed what people liked about the Sting character, including his "Crow" theme which I'm not sure is the most recognizable theme after 14+ years of it not being on TV.
It's also a bit of a shock that somebody would actually pony up the money to use it, unless WCW got some great overarching deal with George S. Clinton when they decided to include it in "Ready to Rumble" and the "Mayhem" CD. You don't have to watch too much ECW to know what WWE thinks about rights fees...which is what really scares me about what their Nitros are going to sound like in the future.
They should of done the longer version with the little boy talking over it from Starcade. I hope that version is in the game if they have his match vs Hogan in it.
I think with Lanny Poffo appearing on Network stuff and just the general process of elimination of who's even left for Vince to do deathbed catharsis with, they've made the deal with the Poffos and they'll finally take care of Savage and the Hall of Fame next year.
At this rate, in a few years Shane McMahon and Chyna are going to have to be the pre-order bonuses. THE 9TH WONDER RETURNS.
You’re going to be in the new WWE2K15 game, but fans are salivating at the idea of you actually being on WWE television. Are there any plans for you to be onscreen?
I’ll just say that I’m all in and very willing to participate. Believe me.
How much more in-ring action do you have in you?
One more match. That’s what I’m hoping to do, and I’d like it to be Taker, and then I’ll hang it up.

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

Did anyone else notice that JR and the King were actually selling the matches in the ring and not just hyping the return of Austin all night? Just wondering.
