This story's about a week old and frankly I'm not the person to tell it because I've only had enough time and interest to scrape around the edges, so I'm kinda hoping if I put out the call, someone else can fill in the details.
It all started when somebody created a collage of Lindsay Lohan photos that all seemed to have the exact same facial expression and posted it over at ytmnd. You can see it here (lohanfacial.ytmnd.com) (CAUTION: SFW but Noisy). Now from what I gather, the GIF was lifted and placed on the ebaumsworld site and, as is their wont, no attribution or author acknowledgment was made AND, as is ALSO their wont, they put the giant "ebaumsworld.link" watermark down in the corner. This pissed off the ytmnd contingent and IT WAS ON. Or something.
This is kinda where I need help. Apparently, some ytmnd members along with some Something Awful members and probably a few other places I don't even know about started standing around outside the Worldwide Ebaumsworld Headquarters - well I'm probably embellishing but angry letters were written, rather pointless legal threats made and I'm not sure what all else.
Basically things are at the point where it's amusing to people outside the process (or perhaps sad, depending on your attitude) and there's a zillion new ytmnds making fun of ebaumsworld - none of which I've seen, because I'm always afraid to click on ANY of them without making sure all the speakers the computer can use are off.
So, uh, that's the very ignorant outlines - can somebody tell me/us a little more? Also, is this as entertaining as I think it is or am I just hopelessly wrong on that front and it's really "should probably just let it die" rather than "should never let up forever?"
Some legal threats from eBaum to the guy who runs ytmnd. In the letters linked above Bauman's father discusses the supposed trespassing at Worldwide Ebaumsworld Headquarters.
The highlight was Neil Bauman sending a letter to Max, and Max's subsequent reply. It's probably the most amusing aspect of this entire "war," and it also contains a little more information as to the extent of the shenanigans.
A message board that I'm a member of (a spinoff of the GameFAQs board Life, the Universe and Everything) also joined in the fray, along with the original LUE and a couple of other small boards. As for me, I've been sitting back and observing, and generally laughing at the absurdity of it all.
This will get added at the end of each post you make, below an horizontal line. This should preferably be kept to a small enough size.
I have a Dell Ultrasharp 17" monitor, and my video card is an ATI Radeon 850 XT Platinum Edition. For the past, oh, two days my computer has been acting strange. The brightness of my monitor goes way up (but everything is pretty much readable)
