|  #1 Posted on 24.10.03 1047.14 | Instant Rating: 2.00 | In the second of two post computer bug threads (gotta keep my stats nice and high) I question the mental faculties of Vince McMahon. I know there's already quite a few threads doing just that. But, I'm going to be as serious as I can. I read the PPV recaps of No Mercy so I'm aware of what happened, so here it comes...
In professional wrestling there are scenarios that are acceptable that aren't acceptable in real life. One of them is an intergender match. Since the people involved are trained wrestlers, they know their limitations and strengths. When there's a male vs female match, I keep that in mind. But when said match involves one or two non wrestling personalities, that's what worries me.
That's a double standard, I guess, but that's how it is with me. So when I first heard of Vince's match with Stephanie, I scoffed and said, "It's about time". Truth is, I hoped it wouldn't come to that. It's not so much the male-female thing, it's the fact that neither one are formally trained wrestlers, AND they're a real life father and daughter.
And when I hear Vince brag about beating up his daughter last night, I shudder, knowing that the more impressionable fans might take that seriously and do something similar. As I said, I respect the hell out of all the McMahons for different reasons, but I seriously worry about a company whose chairman unashamedly promotes this. A paid vacation (Betty Ford'll do) is definitely in order, Mr. McMahon.
After a quarter of a century on this planet, there's three things I know for sure...
1)I'm smarter than I was a year ago.
2)WWE isn't.
3) I'd make a fine Mrs. HHH II.

Im so sick of Vince Mcmahon, its like WWE cannot have a decent storyline without him getting involved, I felt back in the day with the Ministry of Darkness it was a great idea you could tell all who were involved truely were putting their all in it, and Vince gets involved... he needs to back off and let the talent sell the show, not him | ShotGunShep

I really believe that they all get off on it. I think they all laugh about it at the dinner table. They enjoy playing out these parts in front of America.
This is kind of good, since they are probably a very happy family. But their happiness comes from a very weird weird place.

This may not be 100% accurate, but in a nutshell:
The McMahons still own a controlling interest in WWE, but the company "went public" a couple of years ago. Meaning basically anyone can buy stock in WWE, just like Coke or any other publically traded company.

Besides, that was as good a way as any to get Stephanie off TV for awhile. Would I rather see more wrestlers than McMahons...I don't really know. I've always found Vince amd Shane to be entertaining (more times than not anyway), and they always draw good crowd response and ratings so I guess I rarely ever have a problem with them.
No, Vince and Stephanie aren't trained wrestlers, but then again they didn't have a "trained wrestlers" type match. Besides, wrestling is so unrealistic to begin with that this kind of match just doesn't even bother me.
Wisconsin Badgers: 6-2 (What a sever letdown. The fact that despite getting outclassed the whole game, we stayed in it gives me a glimmer of hope for the rest of the season.)

The company did go public, but the McMahons retained such a high percentage of the shares themselves (something in the area of 90%) that they in effect still run things the same as before, they just need to have votes on things for formality's sake every now and then. | It's False

Bragging about beating up his daughter ranks up there for me, but doesn't rank at the top. For me, the big one is delivering a slobbering make-out kiss to the skanky woman that tried to sue him while standing over the prone body of his wife.
Seriously, does anyone think Linda REALLY approves of her husband living out his every sexual fantasy on national television?

And of course, since Turner was still running a wrestling company at the time Vince went public, any share that the McMahon's own is the (for the sake of argument here) Type A stock, while stocks controlled by people outside the McMahon family are Type B stock. Thus, all control of the company remains in the hands of the people with Type A stock, and when they sell it the people who buy the stock do not get the control that goes with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they were trying to get someone else to be the higherpower but when they couldn't Vince took the spot.
I remember that moment too..total letdown.
