Okay, so I didn't know who nearly all of these wrestlers were, so I googled and found Michiku Pro and they had profiles of most of these wrestlers. Very interesting reading but it raised a question. In each profile, it has the wrestlers' blood type. Is this for instant arena transfusions or what?

I believe in some of the Japanese video games, they also list the wrestler's blood type in their bio.
Because I'm too lazy to do it myself (and I'm at work), what's the gaijin count on the list? | PhilRippa

It's a common Japanese belief that blood type is somehow tied into your personality. You'll find it in manga and anime a lot as well. | ManiacalClown

| #11 Posted on 1.8.02 1507.55 | Well, she _is_ the highest-ranked female wrestler that 95% of the readers of this board have ever heard of. It's not like she's #64 and Torrie Wilson is #8, or something like that. Just sayin'.
She's up from #92 last time around and #89 the version before that, so there is progress. (Jazz was the other WWF representative last time, at #96, and it's hard to say if she'd have stuck around had she not been injured.) Trish has clawed her way onto this version of the list, and if you'd told me a year ago that _that_ would happen, I would've laughed out loud.
Molly at 64 is less of a denigration of Molly than a statement of how good most of the other 63 have been.
EDIT: (Whoops -- missed a WWF woman on the last version. Jackie was #84.)

Having not watching joshi on a regular basis since the peak of AJW and Toyota, I don't even know most of the names on the list anymore.

| #13 Posted on 1.8.02 1642.36 | Query: how can booking style affect these ratings? One can't help but think that the WWE women are severely hampered by the current WWE booking style, while the joshi in Japan are greatly enhanced by it. Man, Cheerleader Melissa over Molly...
I also heard that some circuits in Japan are going for a more Americanized style. Will it greatly hurt the wrestlers in the Land of the Rising Sun in terms of performance? I read some of the recent Toyota matches, and they read ugly, not Trish-Jackie ugly, but ugly nonetheless.

| #14 Posted on 2.8.02 1013.22 | The booking style doesn't affect them directly. One can be a great wrestler in a stupid gimmick, or when horribly misbooked. (For example, Joey Abs of the Mean Street Posse was in the top 50 for several DVD500s in a row, solely based on his indy work.)
The trick is that Joey was putting on great matches outside the WWE, and the WWE women typically aren't. It's all about the ringwork. Hence, their body of work to be considered consists mostly of once-a-week three-minute matches and an occasional PPV appearance, being compared to joshi clubbing each other into goo for half an hour with higher-impact moves.
If Molly and Trish did a tour in GAEA and performed well, they'd likely shoot up the rankings. There's certainly plenty of room on the list. But they won't go top 10 simply because they're _capable_ of great matches; those matches have to be actually happening in that six-month span, and that's much harder to pull off in the WWE environment.
I haven't seen Cheerleader Melissa myself.

| #15 Posted on 2.8.02 1810.14 | I have seem Melissa in action from her days in All Pro Wrestling (a very good mat work league with some flying). She took on one of the male trainers in one match, and was in a mixed tag match too. In the second match her partner, a big guy who wasn't too keen in putting anybody but himself over, betrayed her and did some wicked faceplants. She took all the moves very well without crying once, and managed some decent offense too. I also saw pictures of her doing suicide twist planchas on three to five people on the floor(!). Even I went whoa. I don't plug sites too often, but any site that shows entire matches online is all right im my book.

Mae Young took a powerbomb off the stage through a table last year and got the shaft, and look at the bumping they did on Raw. Not to mention they should score points with you for being LESBIANS.

On a more interesting note 40% have "special friendship" with there fellow women. Now that's interesting =) You know I heard a rumor that... Naa I can't do it I can't defame there names on something as legit as a messageboard. Because as a poster I have a special responsibility

| #19 Posted on 4.8.02 0123.20 | Are these 'special relationships' well known in Japan? And do the joshi show it in creative ways, since PDAs are generally discouraged there? Or are the gestures as broad as Billy, Chuck and Rico?

I should have popped into the chat Thursday to say THIS LIST HAS NO CREDIBILITY, but I was still holding out for Ran in the top 5, and lo and behold, there she is. Aside from not seeing Mei vs. Chikayo (working on that), I like the top 10. I would yell at someone for Bolshoi Ahead of Fujita, but then Scott told me he didn't go the extra mile for Ai, so I yelled at him. But Ran at 5 is good - what matches did the trick for y'all?
