Congrats to the Sox. Enjoy it now because the curse of A-Rod is coming when he is your starting 3B next year.

Anyway MLB in the future could enact a Scott Boras gag order during the World Series similar to the one they enacted on Steinbrenner in the 80's when he used to fire and hire and fire and hire managers during the Series?
If we don't count the 1904 cowardice of the Giants against the Red Sox, this was 7 in a row to get #7 in '07. And, thanks to 6-1 in March, my X-Mas money is all set.
Surprised they gave Lowell the MVP, thought it would go to Papelbon for saving 3 games, 2 of which were 1 run games that he went longer than an inning in. Not sure if Manny would have gotten to the ball at the wall in the 9th.
Whether it be Red or White, this is the Century of the Sox. 12-0 vs. the NL this century for Sox teams.
I'll give the Rockies credit, they kept fighting. However, the only NL team that was probably built to give the AL a real run this year decided to quit the last 2 weeks of the regular season.
If you are an Indian fan today, you had 2 shots with your aces and had the Red Sox staggered in the 7th inning of Game 7, and if not for the wise judgement of Joel Skinner, you would have had a team ripe for the picking to face to win the World Series. Thank you again Joel Skinner.

You saying A-rod doesnt move back to shortstop when he finally lands a new team?

I was secretly hoping for Francona to pull a Grady LIttle, mess up the world series and have the Sox hire Torre and sign every decent Yankee Free agent in the process. Imagine how man heads in Boston would explode.

Either way, as much as I absolutely hate the Red Sox and their "Nation" of whiny fans, they are a hell of a team and it showed in the post season. Dominating, and superior in all aspects of the game. Congrats to them.

I wonder how long before Bill Simmons stops furiously masterbating and he writes a love fest Pg 2 article to Manny and Paplebom.

I'm too busy trying to find out as much as I can about the Taco Bell girl with the dragon tattoo.

This was a Hell of a Series, and after Game 1 the Rockies really showed up and fought. Kudos to them.

This win is very different from 2004, and one of the biggest reasons is that there's a very good chance that the Red Sox field the same starting line-up on Opening Day '08 that they fielded in Game 2 of the World Series. The only free agent among them is Lowell, and I doubt that Lugo will get shipped out or moved to the bench.

The Red Sox have a core of young, dominant hitters and pitchers, and unless something crazy happens this winter, they should be the prohibitive favorites to repeat in 2008.

Numbers don't lie. Joe Morgan does.

Not as much as I wanted to see the people in those planted crowd shots-slash-Chevy ads somehow get hit by cars. I'm amazed no one there was sufficiently inebriated to rip up the green signs (at least I think that's how they did it last night).

I hope those fans actually knew what was up, but I suspect it was more devious than that. I suspect that they over-wrote legitimate signs with their green screen sign. I haven't researched this, but it seems feasible given what they can do with the computer generated overlays for football - those don't require a green screen.

How better to get an "authentic look of love" ad than let someone think they are saying "Hi Mom" but put up "We Love Chevy!" on the screen.

Maybe I'm just a cynic. I hate advertising.

They actually looked higher quality than standard crowd shots to me, as if they pre-shot them to look real. There was something about the quality of the video that stood out to me. Regardless, it was dirty pool.

I only saw the one in Game 1 and was POSITIVE it was pre-shot using models. Not only were they too good-looking to be baseball fans, but the clothes choices were just kinda off and seemed way too...arranged?

If I get bored later, I'll see if I can find a link that says so one way or the other.

EDIT: I'm bored now. Here you go: http://publications.mediapost.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Articles.showArticleHomePage&art_aid=69881

Years of training in spotting the "work" have served me so well. (I can't make a dime off it, but I can impress three people on a message board. ;-) )

Now that I think about it, it also didn't hurt that Chevy and FOX have done this before with those goofy-ass, fake "HHR" banners during the All-Star game a year or two back. (I think it was HHR - then again, I prove the rule by being able to recall the product name - damn!)

Verrry interesting about the live-looking but not live Chevy ads. That's pretty deceptive.

Did anyone notice the disproportionate number of female fans in Colorado? I know chicks dig the long ball, but it was more than I'd ever seen before on crowd shots.

I hope everyone comes back next year, except Manny's hair- that has to go.

Yet another newcomer As talented as this guy is, I'm sad to see Gregg Zaun reduced to a backup. As I understand it, Zaun's been a good leader for the team both on and off the field.
