Real good stuff moving the main storylines forward this week. Follow up to Lagoon Boy's capture. Aqualad has Artemis serving has his right hand ninja under a new identity as he leads Icicle Jr. and the Terra Twins in a plot against The Team. Impulse and Blue Beetle, who judging from their call numbers are the lowest ranked members of The Team, hang out together some more before being attacked by Aqualad's group. They seige Mt. Justice, take out Superboy, capture Beast Boy, Impulse and Beetle, then BLOW UP THE MOUNTAIN. That was fantastic, a game changer.
Less of a game changer was Mal Duncan's frustration that Bumblebee is more interested in working on sciencey stuff with Dr. Ray Palmer than going on a date with him.
At the Hall of Justice, where I guess The Team will be hanging their hats these days, Kid Flash angrily yells at Nightwing about something that crossed my mind too: whether or not Aqualad is in fact a triple agent. And yet, if he is, why did Aqualad secretly smuggle a flash drive "that explains everything" to Nightwing during the melee in Mt. Justice?
Proud papa Black Manta formally introduces Aqualad to The Light, who then tell him it's time he gets to meet their Partners. But we don't get to meet the Partners.
The real hero of the episode: Sphere, the Infinity Cycle, who managed to save Superboy, Nightwing and Wolf before the mountain exploded.
I'd also like to point out the absence of the female members of The Team. Specifically their Martian telepath and senior member. Nightwing and Aqualad blew up everyone's house but kept the girls out of the decision-making entirely. Ends justify the means?
“@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
- Calling it now; Artemis is gonna get mind nuked via Miss Martian.
- If you want to free prisoners and just so happen to stage a raid and just so happen to free people inside, Impulse and Blue Beetle are two guys you want to just so happen to already be on the inside.
Two fantastic episodes in a row, this series is one of the highlights of my week.
I am kinda worried that this great plan of the original YJ team has literally blown up in their faces. It does make sense to see how bad Aqualad will go, but I get the feeling the Partners ie Darkseid and the Apoko Gang can see through it. So, all of this destruction and capturing will just lead to them getting owned soon.
As I said last week, I understand YJ is a very dark version of well everything in the Timmverse, but this group needs a win. I mean they are getting to a Cubs level of losing. Also, animated GL had the green lantern squirrel and Anti-Matter. Damn that may go down a the dorkiest episode of the year.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
Decent sci-fi flick despite the lack of explicit R-rated gore. Joel Kinnaman is a better Robocop than Murphy. The remake does a fine job getting across Murphy's struggle having the man overcome the machine.
