As slam-bang awesome a season finale as it needed to be.

Red Arrow is revealed as a Cadmus clone, like Superboy, programmed by The Light as a mole to eventually join the Justice League and enable Vandal Savage's Starro-tech mind control scheme while casting suspicion on members of young Justice as the mole.

The scope of The Light's plan really illuminates (sorry) how forward thinking they are compared to the reactionary methods of the League. Even Batman can't see the stuff The Light was and is up to coming. Maybe Vandal Savage is right; maybe the League does foster the stagnation of humanity and The Light, with their integrated mastery of technology, robotics, bio-technology, sorcery, and mind control is the harbinger of humanity's eventual evolution. Intriguing. I dunno. Vandal Savage was making a lot of sense to me...

The Super fighting was again outstanding. I loved the way John Stewart trapped Red Tornado and Superman and Wonder Woman immediately tore all his limbs off. Speedy, Artemis and Aqualad's crazy gamble of opening the hangar bay to nearly blow Aquaman, Flash and Green Arrow into space and KO them at the last second was a ballsy gamble. That could have gone horribly wrong. Loved how Zatanna magically got Captain Marvel to say "Shazam!" and revert him back to Billy Batson.

Plus the subplots, like Red Arrow's coming to terms with being a clone, Superboy and Superman finally having a moment to reconcile, and Zatanna still being unable to free Zatara from the grip of Dr. Fate were well done.

Young Justice taking down the B-team members of the Justice League together was just the warm up for the Super showdowns between Martian Manhunter and Miss Martian, Superman and Superboy and Batman and Robin. That was pretty awesome, especially how Robin and Superboy worked together to take down Batman and then Kryptonite Superman. Superboy: "Kryptonite... hurts!" I wish there were a Wonder Girl on this show for Wonder Woman to fight, instead of being trapped in Rocket's kinetic force field.

The New Year's kisses between the young lovers of Young Justice was icing on the cake. Red Tornado: "Human customs continue to elude me."

Amazing set ups for season 2: Phase 2 of The Light's plan requiring the Justice League alive. The Light moving the Superboy Prime clone and the real Roy Harper (missing his right arm!) from the ruins of Cadmus. Then the big kicker: Six Leaguers (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, John Stewart, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl - why, six members of the old Justice League TV series) with 16 hours unaccounted for where they did God knows what. Batman: "What did we do?!"

Happy New Year!

They were missing Wally to make it the original seven from JLU, yet it was still nice of them to acknowledge that has their A team. I have to say this was a great episode and the show continues to be outstanding with the little things like Zatanna trying to save her father, the World's Finest vs. the future World's Finest and Red Tornado's human body. Just a lot of awesome.

Having said that, I am a bit curious to see where they go from here. They are using Boom Tubes, so does that mean they are working with Darksied, but why do they need the League alive? And what could those heroes have done in those 16 hours? Gone to Apokolips to be further brain washed? Did they do something, so terrible they will get blamed for it and have the world change their opinion on them? Clubbing? What?

I also saw an preview with Blue Beetle III, Wonder Girl and Lobo for next week? Is that the finale or an epilogue episode? Damn, more questions.

I re-watched a couple of other episodes, and I wanted to throw in this section that I loved:

Flash: If we really wanted some power, Earth has a third Green Lantern, Guy Gardner who ca-

Jordan & Stewart: NO.

Flash: But we coul-

Jordan & Stewart: NO!.

Anyway, tremendous closing episode, tying up some lose ends and giving us several things to look forward to. I said several episodes ago on this very message board that we're looking at Starro here (a nice callback to the first JLA battle, if I'm not mistaken), and the use of Starro was well done.

A lot of Chekov's Guns moments too, with several items introduced earlier coming back. John Smith, for example. And the Helm of Fate.

It seems as if they've finally dropped the Belligerent Sexual Tension between Kid Flash and Artemis, which will likely move onward to next season with them at first awkwardly trying to sort things out as a couple. This will be a stark contrast to Superboy and Miss Martian, two aliens who thus far have had a pretty smooth relationship.

One possibility for next year; we've seen three Earth GL's. Stewart & Jordan obviously want The Man out of the picture (Gardner), but we are missing a fourth GL; namely Kyle Rayner. Could they de-age him for this show? Perhaps! We could even see a heroic sacrifice to lose a ring, or simply have one of Stewart or Jordan go on a long distance mission and a deputy is required.

One CONFIRMED item for next year; according to the very brief Wikipedia summary for next week's episode, three young heroes are being considered. One of them will make John happy, as she has been known to be wonderful (and I predict some issues there, when it comes to the beta couples and her being introduced).

The other possible candidate?

BLUE. BEETLE.

1) You don't think Superman and a GL can do a lot of grunt work for the Light during 16 hours? Or BATMAN's resources?

2) Not an epilogue, but a NEW SEASON!

What about G'nort? They could bring G'nort in. He could hang out with Superboy's wolf.

I actually didn't know season 2 starts immediately next week. I thought there'd be one of Young Justice's many months breaks. This is great!

You mean like the Wonder Girl who was in the scenes for next week's episode?

In fact, the only six that are on Young Justice. YJ Flash is Barry Allen, but JL Flash was Wally West, so no Flash on the away mission.

Edit - Okay, I'm way too slow, and everyone else beat me to the punch on all this stuff. Still, great episode, with enough dangling plot points to keep the next season interesting. I'm also looking forward to their treatment of Lobo next week. He's a character that can be tremendously fun or tremendously stupid.

Regarding Roy Harper:

1) In the old DCU, he and Chesire had a kid. So the flirting here is a nice nod to that.

2) Speaking of nods, five bucks sez original Roy gets released by the Light and has the cyborg arm happen, ala Cry for Justice.

Just a quick note to check your DVR's. The 2nd season is known as Young Justice: Invasion and my DVR didn't continue my season pass. Make sure you check that it will record next Saturday.

Thanks for this! My DVR also didn't extend the season pass. I would be ripshit if I missed the season 2 debut.

Yeah, seeing the tubed-up Roy missing an arm just reeked of Cry for Justice. That...is not the story I would have picked to grab ideas from. At all. Ever.

Young Justice: Invasion starts tomorrow! Here's a great interview with the creators (tv.ign.com) setting up what we'll see in season 2.
