Young Justice has been back for a month now and continues to deliver rather excellent DCU superhero stories. I like this show way more than the DC Animated movies that hit DVD every few months.

"Targets" saw the return of Red Arrow, Cheshire, Sportsmaster, and set R'as Al Ghul against Lex Luthor. It revealed Luthor and R'as are really in cahoots all along and like just about every other villain in the YJ DCU, they serve The Light. Plus Sportsmaster dropped hints of a mole in the Young Justice team to Aqualad. Meanwhile, Superboy and Miss Martian go to high school for the first time (they even meet Wendy and Marvin from the Superfriends) and it's the same high school Robin attends, Gotham Academy. Miss Martian becomes a cheerleader but Superboy has issues fitting in.

"Terrors" saw Belle Reve introduced as Batman sends Miss Martian and Superboy undercover. Lots of DC villains make appearances, including Icicle I and his son Icicle II. Plus Amanda Waller appears looking like her proper big fat black lady self and Dr. Hugo Strange is the Belle Reve prison psychologist! (What a horrible choice for in house shrink Waller made.) Miss Martian and Superboy finally kiss. Aww. Young (Justice) love.

"Home Front" is pretty great. The Cave is attacked by android "siblings" of Red Tornado - Red Inferno and Red Torpedo. Robin and Artemis, the two skilled humans of the team, are outmatched by the Reds and are chased throughout the Cave until Artemis manages to sort through her issues and execute Robin's plan to set off an EMP to stop the Reds. Red Tornado arrives and reveals himself to be "the mole" Aqualad was told about. The rest of the Justice League arrive too late to stop Red Tornado. We also learn Barbara Gordon and Bette Kane also go to the same high school Robin, Miss Martian, and Superboy attend.

"Alpha Male" takes place one day after "Home Front". The team mistrusts Aqualad for not telling them about the mole. As the League rebuilds the Cave, Batman sends YJ on a covert mission to India with the first of their new rotating supervisors: Captain Marvel! There they uncover a plot by classic New Teen Titans enemies The Brotherhood of Evil - The Brain and Monsieur Mallah. The team reconciles with Aqualad as their leader and Captain Marvel, who's really just 12 year old Billy Batson, comes home to Fawcett City raving about how much more fun hanging with Young Justice is rather than the Justice League. No doubt.

This is a terrific superhero show. I still think Young Justice is currently the best representation of the DC universe out there in any media.

Alpha Male was a perfect illustration of how easy it should be to write a terrific Captain Marvel story. He's a great, engaging character that will fit into just about any group or situation in a way that will be interesting. I'm looking forward to the rotating cast of Justice Leaguers, but I'm hoping that Captain Marvel will be back, too.

I feel like an idiot for not realizing that Artemis was actually Artemis Crock (a.k.a. Tigress). I actually needed to have that spelled out for me, which the show's actually been doing a good job of, so far. The plots have been easy to follow and a lot of fun. What's particularly cool about Artemis' storyline is that they're essentially doing the Deathstroke/Ravager family feud deal, only they're substituting in the obscure Sportsmaster and Artemis. It's being done so well that by the end of that arc, Sportsmaster and Artemis won't be so obscure anymore. I love it!

Agreed. The characterization for Captain Marvel was brilliant! They made sure to capture the pure essence of Billy's childhood innocence without playing it up for unnecessary comedy. They effectively established that he's a strong JLA-caliber hero, while also pointing out that he loves hanging out with Young Justice, because he's secretly in the same age group.

The writing for this show has been phenomenal. Probably the best I've seen for a DC-based show since JLU ended.

This show is good. Totally missed it was back on until the last B&B thread reminded me to look for both of these.

Robin, Artemis (and implied-Batgirl) go to the Gotham school with a dress code, but Miss Martian and Superboy are at a different school in whatever town the base is in.

I read this scene as Tornado was not the mole Sportsman was referred to, and only turned because of something (a virus?) one of the other androids passed off to him when he went to check on them.

The first half (?) of the season hinted Artemis was either the mole, or at least compromised because of her family, but they seem to have backed away from that in these episodes.

I have enjoyed it and after rewatching the Justice League run, it does a nice job of being the spin-off series, I was hoping Teen Titans would be. The mole arc has a nice dual role where it could end with Tornado or it could continue if they wanted to. I do hope they show the League vs. Red Tornado Family.
