Strong show. All good matches except for the crowd cleanser tag match. Both Chambers were excellent and the SD Chamber was maybe the best WWE match since Michaels/Undertaker. Straightforward booking to get to Wrestlemania and two nice surprise returns.

1. Alberto Del Rio beat Kofi Kingston with the Armbarto. Surprisingly good match between two guys who can be hit and miss in what could've easily been a run of the mill match to put the Mania main eventer over.

2. Edge won the SD Chamber. Big Show replaced Dolph Ziggler so that they could make sure the best athlete in the match wasn't in it. But it ended up not hurting the match one bit as the finishing sequence with Edge and Rey was superb. Edge and Rey were also the final two in 2009 and had a great finish; this was even better. Lots of great nearfalls.
a. Big Show knocked out Wade with the punch. I guess the purpose of Show in the match was to start Barrett's WM consolation program.
b. Kane pinned Show after a chokeslam after Show ate a bunch of finishers and dives off the top, including Rey diving off the pod.
c. Kane pinned McIntyre after a chokeslam.
d. Edge pinned Kane after spearing Kane & Rey at the same time while Rey was attempting a rana.
e. Edge pinned Rey with a spear as Rey jumped off the top after a long finale between the two of them. ****1/2 MOTY caliber match.
Del Rio jumped Edge after the match and Christian made the save and destroyed Alberto. In a related story, Christian to turn on Edge at Wrestlemania.

Booker T introduced his fellow Tough Enough trainer, Trish Stratus. She was kind of nervous, maybe because she knew she'd been given a line that was going to die a death, borrowing "Finally Trish has come back." Christian and Trish, the dominant couple of 2004, are back.

3. Gabriel & Slater regained the tag titles from Santino & Kozlov clean when Gabriel SSP'd Kozlov. Corre vs. Bryan & Bateman at Mania?

Vickie Guerrero came out to beg for Dolph's job. Two filler bits? Teddy said he had totally rehired someone BUT IT WASN'T DOLPH, it was Kelly. Kelz beat up Vickie, Laycool doubled on her, Trish made the save and had a hell of a time doing the Stratusphere in giant heels.

4. Miz beat Lawler clean. No Cole interference but Lawler did throw Miz over the desk into Cole. Lawler was moving slow but crowd was really invested in his close calls.

5. Cena won EC2
a. Punk was immediately eliminated by Orton when he got stuck in the pod door and Orton jumped and RKO'd him. But the GM ruled that due to a Chamber malfunction Punk could re-enter his pod.
b. Sheamus pinned Truth with the kick. Truth is no good at Chambers.
c. Punk pinned Orton -- a cruel reversal of fortune. Orton was ready to attack Punk on exit again but Cena spun him around and got RKO'd on the steel. Orton was then susceptible to the GTS after MOCK VIPER PUNCHES.
d. Morrison pinned Sheamus after DROPPING OFF THE CEILING ONTO HIM. Morrison was amazing once again flying all around, including taking a slingshot from Punk into the glass but catching himself on it, then hopping onto the cage and coming off with a flash kick.
e. Punk pinned Morrison with the GTS after Morrison missed Starship Pain and landed on his knee, which he'd hurt when he missed a running knee at the pod. (Morrison in the final three for the second year in a row.)
f. Punk then turned around into an FU, tried to block using the ropes, and got flung over them onto the steel.
Another really good match.

Tonight the part of Derek Smalls will be played by CM Punk. And the part of a Freddy Krueger victim will be played by Punk's thigh... those cuts from the bad bump on the steel towards the end looked nasty.

Enjoyable show; the two EC matches especially. I preferred the Raw Chamber myself; I thought the Smackdown one was a little repetitive (Rey is a lawn dart... twice. Wade goes through a pod back first... twice. Rey doing what felt like a dozen 619's, etc. Still a great match though).

I laughed my ass off when Cole was shut up by Lawler throwing Miz over the table and into his lap. Great spot, especially for those of us watching at home who actually have to HEAR him.

I am way more psyched to see Christian back than Trish. Is that weird?

Like I said, enjoyable show.

The Chamber matches sounded like they went great and it just makes me wonder why they don't put the Chamber PPV more in the middle of the year, just because this PPV feels like it's doomed to fail when it falls between the Rumble and Wrestlemania.

I feel somewhat silly in forgetting about Trish when bringing back all the draws of the Attitude era. I love seeing her back, don't get me wrong, but...it still doesn't wash away the taste from having to see YET ANOTHER installment of LayCool vs. Kelly Kelly.

I like the buildup to Lawler/Cole, but maybe I'm just saying that because I didn't have to hear Cole at his most obnoxious. I'm sure I'll get to hear an encore tomorrow night. In a perfect world, we'd get Cole and Riley facing Bryan and Lawler with JR in their corner. But the thought of Matthews and Booker calling Wrestlemania is just frightening.

Christian's not ready to come back NOW, is he? Are they giving away that Christian/ADR blowoff on free TV?

Thought hits me. If The Corre are all equals, will they be defending the tag titles under Freebird rules?

Do they have to have Cena in a world championship match at every WrestleMania?

Cena in the main event at Wrestlemania id not inspiring me to purchase the show.

Booker calling Christian by his TNA last name....tell me he did not just say that! Did my ears deceive me?

So why bury Dolph?

Nice to see Scott Armstrong back. (Did they fire/injure one of the other refs last week and I didn't notice?)

They missed a real opportunity during the tag match...

Two people I never really cared for have been impressing me more and more lately.

I used to hate CM Punk and couldn't care less for him. The whole straight edge thing is stupid to me and I couldn't see it as a good character. Since he's moved to Raw and since I don't hear him talking about it all the time, it's working for me now. Letting Punk just be himself without being overly preachy with the whole SEC crap has done wonders for him. I'd say I actually 'like' him now, which I NEVER thought I'd hear myself say.

Secondly, John Morrison. He's a spot monkey but it's always something different and new. The Royal Rumble spot was fantastic. In the chamber, he was like those old kung fu movies on USA's Kung-Fu Theater. Morrison has the potential to be the next Shawn Michaels if he'd just take some acting classes and learn to talk. He's great to watch but terrible to listen to. He should fake an injury and come back in six months with a personality.

Trish made me feel funny... in my pants.

How is it that Stevie Ray was the better match caller? Booker can get better, I'm sure... Taz did, so ANYONE can; but tonight really made me miss Stevie Ray.

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

Thought it was a real good show. Smackdown chamber was outstanding, Raw chamber was real good, Miz-Lawler was exactly right and both guys put in great performances. Edge and Mysterio were above and beyond the call of duty. As for Morrison, I'm not a huge fan of what he does, but what he does is highly effective and he's got huge balls. It took me a long time to really appreciate Shawn Michaels, too -- I think it might just be an apt comparison. Alberto-Kofi was alright and the tag match worked as filler, plus the return of the incredible Kelly Kelly was done well.

I think my EC picks are in the toilet due to wanting Cena/Rock and Miz/Morrison. Its strange that Tough Enough looks like a better show then Raw right now. I actually like the Elimination chamber between the Rumble and Mania since it is an easy way to change around Mania which is probably why Vince booked it in the first place. Having said that, they pretty much telegraphed this PPV from the word go. If Rock wasn't going to be a part of Mania and the outside chance of Austin confronting him, I am not sure how psyched I would be for this event. Even now, I am pretty meh! about it. Yet, they have a few weeks to put some icing on top.

Also, Cena eating fruity pebbles was so lame. It reminds me of how much I dislike the character. Instead of taking Rocky's shot personally, he just laughs them off like its no big deal after getting owned on Monday night. To me, he is playing the too cool for school kid who just tries to laugh everything off instead standing up for himself. If this is the thought process going forward between the two, I am not sure how its going to work. Rock needling John will make Rock, the heel which I am sure is not what a good chunk of the fans want to see after being gone for 7 years. The crowd at Mania will probably give the second biggest pop of the year if Rock gives Cena the People's Elbow, the first being Rock's return. To me, WWE is trying to have their cake and eat it too. Keep Cena face while Rock cuts some scathing promos about him. The sad part is I fear Miz will get so lost in this thing that it will make the title match meaningless even if Rock isn't guest referee or involved in the match.

Thirteen W'ers predicted this PPV 100% correctly, with another 3 getting all of their picks correct but failing to add a prediction for the tag match once it was announced. Is that a new record? Does that make this the most predictable PPV of all time? If so, does that demonstrate that swerves aren't necessary if you put on good matches?

To answer your question, I would definitely say this was the most predictable PPV that I have ever seen. To answer the other question, I think a swerve is needed somewhere to help build some suspense (personally, I was hoping for Jericho instead of Big Show to be the replacement entrant for Ziggler).

The matches themselves, I thought were alright but nothing we haven't seen before. It is pretty difficult to build a PPV a few weeks after the Rumble and weeks before WM. Overall out of 5 stars, I would give last night's PPV a 2.75 and maybe a 3 out of 5 but no more than a 3.

You almost have to go out of your way to screw up matches like the Elimination Chamber. EC, Wargames, Hell in the Cell and MitB start with 3 stars and move up or down from there. Its mainly due to the brutality and uniqueness of the match that makes it something people want to see as well as giving the wrestlers something new to play with outside of the 4 sided ring. I was 1 for 5 and I was picking in the hopes of a Mania that does not look really weak on paper. A Mania where its up to a guest host and the Tough Enough trainers to make it interesting. I just hope the weak on paper matches prove to be good on execution unlike last year's Mania where on paper it was being compared to X-7 and was pretty much like the year's before Mania including the same match being the best one.

So they are going for Miz Vs Cena and absolutely no one is going to care about it. If you make Rock the ref, everyone is gonna focus on him. If Rock isn't actually a part of the match, then everone will want it to get overwith to see if Rock gives the Rock Bottom to Cena.

You make valid points, but new stars have to be elevated at some point on the biggest show of the year. A lot of us have screamed it for years, so if they go with HHH-Taker with HBK as ref as the money match, this is a good way to slip Miz and ADR into the title matches without them having to carry the show. Unless there are big surprises over the next few weeks (like Rock wrestling at Mania, or Batista or Jericho returning), then this is just a “rebuilding year” for Mania. Similar to WM 9 and WM 14. At least one of those was good. Unfortunately, I don’t see either ADR or Miz going over the established guys like Edge or Cena. As I posted a few weeks ago, Edge kinda deserves it, and Cena is Cena.

I think they will lay out a match with a lot of twist and turns and build heat between all three guys over the next six weeks.

Really cuz I don't think "The Rock confronts John Cena after he competes in Money in the Bank" is a great hook.

Ziggler's entire, um, push over the last 2 months has been quite the achievement, so maybe just to fuck around with him and he'll be brought back as Teddy Long's janitor. But an optimistic guess might be that Cole and the GM sign him to Raw as Lawler's opponent to protect Cole. (This was a suggestion in the WM thread the other week.) Lawler/Sheamus would make sense too.

From what I hear and read, ADR is scheduled for a world title reign very soon and actually was supposed to win the World Heavyweight Title at the Rumble but McMahon wanted ADR to look more of a legitimate title holder by first winning the rumble. So I see ADR going over Edge, an established ring veteran (but we all know how crazy Vince McMahon is and has been known to change the match-up plans an hour before the event).

However, I do not think any of us will see someone going over Cena because "Cena is Cena" as it was correctly described. But the WWE is high on Alberto Del Rio right now so don't be too surprised if he is wearing the belt when 'Mania ends.

Has anyone said what Rock's schedule is? Will he be on the Raws leading up to WM, or will he just be doing one or two live with taped interview bits the rest of the way? Is he on tonight's Raw? Shouldn't the WWE have made the crystal clear so guys like me know to be tuning in?

Also, is there any word if Rock will be doing anything with the company after WM or will he just be more like Mike Tyson?

... and is the selling point of this year's WM really going to be what happens when the Rock and Cena go nose to nose for a second? I know that was sort of a selling point of WrestleMania XIV, but they had also built a solid feud with HBK and a white hot Austin to go along with it.
