Quote from Najeh Davenport after the Pack zapped the Rams tonight.

Wasn't Davenport wonderful this evening. He fulfilled every bit of promise as Ahman sat out. Good luck with the Eagles though.

Go Pack!

In retrospect, Jim Thorpe should have been disqualified from the Olympic games not for his baseball playing, but because he wasn't an American citizen. Nor was anyone else in his tribe.

I have this bad vision of Al Harris being lit up like Johnny Storm by TO on Sunday, but I'm still hoping that the Packers come out with a vengeance and avenge the 4th and 26 debacle from last January. Philly's due for a letdown week sooner or later, right?

I'm just shocked that it's an NFC game and there are TWO good teams playing.

4th-and-1, handoff to big #44 off-tackle...was I the only one who had a Super Bowl XVII flashback, with Rich Coady playing the part of Don McNeal?

Catch The Thrill on "Pick of the Week": taped Tuesdays at Planet Magic in Denmark, WI; on the air Sundays @ 1 am on WB-14!

Man, I don't get the whole "horse trailer dilemma" Madden seemed to hem and haw about for the last couple minutes of last night's game. Hell, how many times in the past have we seen 2 or 3 players get that honOR? But now, all of a sudden, there's a 1-game, 1-headshot quota?

I mean, I'm all for giving it to Brett for #200 and to keep a promise made while inhaling a brat (that's better than a handshake in Japanese wrestling, people), but you could've squeezed ol' Davenpoop in there, too! C'mon, 184 freakin' yards in his first NFL start?

And Iggles fans...how's your receiving corps? I've been so focused on the McNabb-to-TO (double fantasy points for ME) connection this year that I have no idea about the rest of your wideouts. The Rams had a helluva pair in Holt and Bruce...what have y'all got besides TO?

This is shaping up to be a good one...you can run on the Philly D, and hopefully Green'll be back. But the Packers can't stop anybody passing on 3rd down. Could be a good one...

Star wipe, and...we're out.

Pinkston's been quietly having a pretty good year, breaking a few big plays although he hasn't caught many in the end zone. Mitchell's having a reasonable year too, but I remain unconvinced if I'm being honest. Last two weeks TO hasn't been the leading receiver though and McNabb's spreading the ball around a lot more which is good to see.

Westbrook's still like 3rd or something in terms of receiving yards, so we could be doing better I guess.

you can run on the Philly D, and hopefully Green'll be back.

Not so much now that they decided to finally stick Trotter in though. Tiki gave us some problems, but then he gives anyone trouble, and I think we were having WAY too much fun terorrising Eli to bother stopping him

It'll be tough though. The Pack are one of the form teams out there though, and on paper their offense is a tad scary. I'm just glad we don't have to worry too much about losing anything if we lose.

The past two weeks (against sub-par teams, even) the offense has sputtered in the first half. If the Pack can get a lead, the Eagles are in trouble. Unfortunately for the Packers, Trotter is playing even better than when he first left the Eagles, and the DT's (especially Simon and Walker) had a great game last week. Kearse is going crazy on offenses, playing the end and the "joker" position (pass rushes from the LB position). Of course, a speedy WR can burn Lito and Sheldon (as witnessed last week), but it seems that when the Eagles can frustrate Favre, they can bait him into making some awful throws (into the arms of Brian Dawkins).

Don't expect another 4th and 26 catch from Freddie. He's got like 10 catches this year, 9 for first downs, but he's never on the field. If you double team Owens, Pinkston's going to make the catch. If you play 2 deep, Smith, Westbrook or Lewis will get the ball underneath. It's the brilliance of what TO brings to the game. How are the Packers LB's at coverage? I've noticed that TO also winds up going against a LB a few times a game when he lines up in the slot.

Though I loved the Ben Stiller bit, "Hey Brett, Do me a FAV-ER and say your name right!" ABC's sucking up to all things Green Bay and Favre got to be too much for me to stomach. 200 games, yes, we get it!
Should hunter orange be the Pack's new color? Looking at the crowd there was almost more orange than green and yellow. Does everyone in Wisconsin hunt?

Almost everyone.

As you probably heard, there was a hunting tragedy in northern Wisconsin a little over a week ago. As a show of support for the hunters who were killed, fans were asked to wear their blaze orange to the game. I'm betting that those people who own both blaze orange and green & gold wore the orange last night.

OK, that makes sense now. Seemed like quite a coincidence for that many people to wear their orange.

We're only up a game on the Falcons for homefield advantage. Granted, that hasn't helped much in the last two years, its something worth fighting for.

Still, Green Bay is going to get this win only because they want it more. They are on a hot streak, they are in a dogfight with Minnesota for their division, and they have the whole 4-26 revenge factor going. As tough as Philly is going to claim to be, they've clinched the division and as you said, they aren't going to worry much about the consequences of losing.

Though with Philly seeming to have improvemed against the run in past few weeks, Green will be a good yardstick for them to measure how much further they have to go.

See, while I think the Falcons deserve a bit more love than they've been getting, I don't see them getting to the Championship game, or winning their next five. The Pack and the Vik's are both better teams IMO.

Obviously I'd rather we won, but I think homefield would be (relatively) easily do-able regardless. St Louis will be tough, the Bengals bring an unpredictability to the table, and the Skins would be good if they could find someone who can acheive a level higher than 'utter pants' at QB, but I'd be surprised/pissed if we lose more than one between now and playoff time.

I figure we'll lose to the Pack on Sunday, and unless Cincy has a really good week, that should be it for us. However, looking over the Falcons schedule, I could see them running the table at this point. Maybe I'm naively overrating them in comparison to their seemingly weak division (or maybe Seattle can put it together that week?), but if it comes down to both teams being 14-2, or even more conservatively 13-3, who wins the tie breaker?

IF Philly loses to GB and Atlanta beats TB and both teams are 10-2, then this would be the tiebreaker for the rest of the year.

1. Conference record: Both teams would be 8-1 in the NFC with three conference games remaining, so it would hurt a team less to the one AFC opponent than to an NFC opponent.

2. Common games: THIS is interesting, because there needs to be a minimum of four common games, and Atlanta and Philly will have five.

PHI: 09/12 NYG W, 31-17
09/26 DET W, 30-13
10/17 CAR W, 30-8
11/28 NYG W. 27-6
12/27 STL

ATL: 09/19 STL W, 34-17
10/03 CAR W, 27-10
10/10 DET L, 10-17
11/21 NYG W, 14-10
12/18 CAR

So, due to Philly's unbeaten record in their games, Atlanta fans would REALLY be regretting that Detroit loss, as it would lose them the tiebreaker.

Do you mean Tampa this week? Or do you honestly think that Carolina has a chance to make up the 4 1/2 game gap that Atlanta has on them?

On the Eagles and Packers this week I too am afraid of the game and I think the Packers will win. Cmon its the 4th and 26 revenge game how could they lose?

The entire Falcons team, including the defense, plays inspired when Vick is in the starting lineup. Michael Vick has yet to lose to the Panthers. In fact, two of his four games against the Panthers were shutouts. I think the point total is something like 118-24. It's not going to happen.

No, I mean when Carolina and Atlanta play later this season, Carolina is going to win. And hopefully Carolina will be 9-7 and secure a wildcard slot in the playoffs. Hopefully.

Unless it's the NFC Championship.

I say that only half jokingly. We're spoiled, in that we (as in, the fans) expect a NFC Championship game every year. I'm hoping for another one, but the Packers aren't going to forget this butt whipping (piling on, I thought), and I have a strong feeling we might see Philly/Green Bay in the NFC Championship game (if not before then). Atlanta's got two personalities, and the sucky one showed up today. I'm not too worried about them, yet.

Of course, everything worked today, and it looks like the Eagles have shored up the run. Trotter, as usual, was amazing, and I really dig the DT rotation of Rayburn, Thomas, Simon, and Walker.

Freddie Mitchell is going to be a problem, but not until next year, and I'm sure Andy will trade him away on draft day, along with the abundance of picks they already have (and will never use).

The way the NFC looks right now, Carolina is the only team I can see that has any shot at keeping the Eagles from getting to the Super Bowl. The Vikings won't win on the road in January, the Packers can't play defense, the West teams I don't respect, and I don't have any faith in the Falcons in a big spot. Panthers still need to knock off the Rams to have a real shot at the playoffs, but Peppers looks like he might be going off on an LT'ish defensive roll, and the Panthers have proven in the past that you knock out the QB, you knock out the Eagles.
