At least Yao wasn't 0-5 at the FT line like Jay Williams. Then again Jay Williams actually had some points.

| #7 Posted on 12.11.02 1024.10 | Yao Ming is probably the biggest first pick bust I've seen in years. If(When) he doesn't do anything in the next 2 years, ship him back to China and let him play against people 15-20 inches shorter than him.
I can't wait to see Shaq just TOUCH this guy and see him crumble.

Is this guy gonna start scoring points here, or what? Does this guy really, truly suck, or is he simply exhausted from the shitload of international play he had to deal with? Shawn Bradley has actually not sucked (as hard) this year.

| #13 Posted on 13.11.02 2041.46 | The way I look at it, the season is barely two weeks old. You must give Ming time to adjust. Hes only averaging 3.3 pts now but he also only averaging 13 mins a game. Rudy T is doing exactly what he should do. Hes bringing his prize rookie along SLOWLY. You cant just throw ANY rookie to the wolves in the first month of the season. Especially a foreign born player who barely speaks the language. Try to imagine what Ming is going through. Hes only 22, he grew up in Communist China. Hes played ball under international rules his whole life agnst other Chinese. Nows he playing in the NBA in America, in TEXAS for gods sake. Can you imagine the culture shock? Give the guy time. I think hes going to develop into a good if not great ballplayer. But dont write him off 6 games into his rookie year.

| #14 Posted on 15.11.02 2311.34 | The problem with Yao is this:
I've seen his international play. Yao was getting beat up by guys six inches to a foot shorter than him - WHO AREN'T EVEN IN THE NBA. He gets bullied physically, he's a jump shooter (which is the antithesis of an NBA center) and he plays in a league where most 2 and 3 players have more upper-body mass and natural talent than him.
Not to mention the country he's from - it's win/win for China. If Yao does turn into the next Shaq, or whatever, China can call him back to play with them. If he busts, he's more than welcome to be the superstar in their national leagues. Either way, Yao is getting murdered by NBA teams AND the press - and it's not going to let up until he starts dropping 20+ points a night and not get outrebounded by 6'8" guys.

| #16 Posted on 17.11.02 0041.01 | I wouldn't say he's a bust yet. Not living up his hype? Yes, but what rookies do? With all the buildup surrounding him, it almost seemed like he was expected to score 25 or so a game straight out, and that's not going to happen. Give him time before you start comparing him to Shawn Bradley. ;)
