I guess Kwame won't be collecting dust this year.

At least Yao wasn't 0-5 at the FT line like Jay Williams. Then again Jay Williams actually had some points.

He was held scoreless again a couple nights ago, as well.

Wow. Does Yao simply suck big-time, or does everyone still think he's gonna be a huge superstar one of these days?

If Yao doesn't start having double-digit games soon, he's going to be called the second coming of Shawn Bradley.

Cowboys 3-6-0. Startup QB on struggling football team seeking offensive line to add years to my life. Blocking skills preferred.

Spurs 2-1. Shouldn't have lost to Golden State, but still a good start.

Yao Ming is probably the biggest first pick bust I've seen in years. If(When) he doesn't do anything in the next 2 years, ship him back to China and let him play against people 15-20 inches shorter than him.

I can't wait to see Shaq just TOUCH this guy and see him crumble.

It kills me when people want to race to be the first to call a guy a bust. Can we at least give the guy a few months before we call him a "the biggest bust Ive seen in years." Damn, give him time to adjust to the NBA game.

Yao's first game against Shaq is this Sunday. That is if Shaq is ready to play.

Can't wait.

Yao will get his first real NBA lesson, assuming the Diesel is on the court for that game.

Cowboys 3-6-0. Can't lose on a bye week, thank goodness.

Spurs 5-2. Still looks good, brain fart vs. Portland aside.

Um, he's had at least two games (by my count, and I'm not really paying attention) in which he's gone scoreless. Maybe more. Is this guy gonna start scoring points here, or what?

Does this guy really, truly suck, or is he simply exhausted from the shitload of international play he had to deal with? Or is he having a hard time adjusting to the more physical play of the NBA?

Shawn Bradley has actually not sucked (as hard) this year.

The way I look at it, the season is barely two weeks old. You must give Ming time to adjust. Hes only averaging 3.3 pts now but he also only averaging 13 mins a game. Rudy T is doing exactly what he should do. Hes bringing his prize rookie along SLOWLY. You cant just throw ANY rookie to the wolves in the first month of the season. Especially a foreign born player who barely speaks the language. Try to imagine what Ming is going through. Hes only 22, he grew up in Communist China. Hes played ball under international rules his whole life agnst other Chinese. Nows he playing in the NBA in America, in TEXAS for gods sake. Can you imagine the culture shock? Give the guy time. I think hes going to develop into a good if not great ballplayer. But dont write him off 6 games into his rookie year.

The problem with Yao is this:

I've seen his international play. Yao was getting beat up by guys six inches to a foot shorter than him - WHO AREN'T EVEN IN THE NBA. He gets bullied physically, he's a jump shooter (which is the antithesis of an NBA center) and he plays in a league where most 2 and 3 players have more upper-body mass and natural talent than him.

Not to mention the country he's from - it's win/win for China. If Yao does turn into the next Shaq, or whatever, China can call him back to play with them. If he busts, he's more than welcome to be the superstar in their national leagues. Either way, Yao is getting murdered by NBA teams AND the press - and it's not going to let up until he starts dropping 20+ points a night and not get outrebounded by 6'8" guys.

Who knows, if Yao turns out to be any good, maybe he'll defect like Wang Zhizhi evidently has.

I wouldn't say he's a bust yet. Not living up his hype? Yes, but what rookies do? With all the buildup surrounding him, it almost seemed like he was expected to score 25 or so a game straight out, and that's not going to happen. Give him time before you start comparing him to Shawn Bradley. ;)

Well at least Yao has broken into double figures, so maybe he'll build more confidence on that. Time to update the Yao Ming Watch... :)

Hmmm, Yao Ming scored over 19 points in a game. Doesn't this mean Charles Barley has to kiss his ass? :}

This ought to translate well in international relations!
