Pending physicals, the Yankees just acquired Damaso Marte and Xavier Nady (sportsillustrated.cnn.com) from Pittsburgh for Russ Ohlendorf (who they got from Arizona in the Randy Johnson trade), Jose Tabata, and two others from the low minors. Tabata was one of the crown jewels of the Yankee farm system, recognized as a 5-tool guy, but has run into disciplinary trouble lately, and rumored to be a prospect who could be moved for these reasons.
I guess I like the trade on the surface, and can only hope that this marks the end of the Latroy Hawkins is a New York Yankees Pitcher off-off-Broadway show.
What a terrific win pulled off by the Pittsburgh Cubs. Come on, Randall Simon-2 run homer, Kenny Lofton-scored winning run, and last but not least, Aramis Ramirez-managed to boot a ball and win the game because of it.
