from the Wrestling Online E-Newsletter Dave Scherer is reprting Jimmy Yang (formerly known as Yung Yang of the Young Dragons in WCW) has signed a developmental contract with WWE. He wrestled on Heat a couple weeks ago before actually signing.
They didn't say if he is going to OVW first or jumping right in to the scene,or which "Brand" will pick him up. Still, I think this is good news. He's a solid worker and has refined his skills to the point his match with Tommy Dreamer was decent enough for me. Teaming him up with Tajiri and Funaki would be pretty killer. I could also see him as the flash in a team with Lance Storm if they put him on Raw.
Yang's tours with All Japan really helped him out. He was always spectacular but lacked any mat game or psychology. He's much improved those since his Jung Dragons days.
I doubt it'll be long before we see him on Smackdown because they don't really sign guys like that if they don't have a use for them. Perhaps he could be Tajiri's evil sidekick?
He NEEDS to feud with Jamie Noble on Velocity, just so I can see what gimmicks Josh is allowed to bring up.
With the number of people (Spanky too - maybe I'm overstating this quantity) who've been let go from developmental deals, gone to Japan, and gotten resigned and used, you'd think the WWE would have cut out the middle man and signed a developmental exchange agreement with a Japanesse promotion.
Maybe it's cheaper to do it this way, but I've been of the thought the last few weeks that a few of the newer guys (Maven especially - but a lot of the ex-OVW guys) would benefit from a couple weeks of wrestling someplace, so maybe they would learn stuff to not come off as so vanilla and basic.
I see Yang getting nothing at all, where Dragon right now? WWE doesn't have a clue what to do with small guys at all. I really wish they change alot of stuff with the WWE. It still be nice to see Yang.
Great Muta is a wrestling GOD!! praise the Great Muta.

I hate to agree with this but I do... there's very limited Cruiser pushing right now, and that's a shame... because of the talent that the WWE has. I havent even seen Ultimo wrestle on tv (I know he has, I just havent seen it) and Ultimo is one of my favorites
CHARLIE: I should have gone in. I'm such a chicken. I should have kissed her. I should go knock on her door and just kiss her. It would be romantic. It would be something we'd tell our kids about someday. I'm going to do that right now. (Drives Away)
I don't see WWE doing too much with him. He will most likely be put on the RAW Brand to be their version of Funaki and he will say "This is Yang! RAW No. 1 announcer!"
Homer Simpson: If they can send a man to the moon, why can't they make my shoes smell good?
Smackdown's cruiserweight division is kicking the ass of Raw's Intercontinental division. Although I can't for the life of me understand their handling of Dragon (money-guzling entrance, weeks of hype, wrestling on Velocity?), it does seem that they're semi-serious about the little guys at the moment. You wouldn't have got regular fifteen minute cruiser matches on Thursday night a year ago.
And going back to Ultimo-was there any particular story attached to his bottom-of-the-run position? Or is it just one of those things? I don't recall reading in any of the dirtsheets that management had any beef with him.

From what I read on the magic box that is known as "the internet", so you know it has to be true, is that Mr. McMahon did not like his wrestling style or something to that degree. Vinnie Mac thought Dragon would go out and totally amaze the crowd with flying moves and such but Dragon actually would go out and "wrestle" a match or two. God forbid.

I find this scenario to be almost the exact opposite of "most likely."
Shame...I liked what I saw of Yang on Heat that finishing move was sweet :) !I think he'd make a great wrestler but I can't think of a 'gimmick' for him to have. Unless someone digs up Dragon (quite literally...), although they'd probable end up the Cade and Jindak of Velocity (they wrestle therefore they must be kept down *sigh*) I'd like to see them on different shows so he isn't just put (not teamed just 'put') with anyone else but with Raw's cruiserweight division (or lack there-of) maybe he could be an IC contender?
Vince is too interested in talent to ENTERTAIN than to actually wrestle so actually putting in guys like Yang or Ultimo isn't going to be anything big because once they get into the ring and they cna actually wrestle Vince send them to lower-midcard hell for all eternity...
he's only getting the hot guys now so they can't join NWATNA so they can't advance on his position as number one asshole in wrestling
I remember the last words of the great Socrates who said...."I drank WHAT?!?"
Yang's style is closer to that of a Rey Jr. than Ultimo so I think he might fare better in the long run...Reform Jung Dragons plz. And 3 Count.
Caped Boy: Excuse me, ladies. You may remember me as the guy who came to dinner a few weeks ago with underwear on my head. My name is Keith Stat from Milbourne, New Jersey. State bird, the mosquito. And as you may have heard I am recently a crowned class B dungeon-master. So if any of you would like to play D&D today, please speak now or forever hold your peace. [He chuckles, and there is an awkward silence at the table.] Caped Boy: Anyone? Alexa! [Alexa gives him a withering glare.] Caped Boy: Maybe you would like to join in? We do need a druid, and you have definitely cast a level 5 charm spell on me. Alexa: In your dreams, douche-bag! Caped Boy: Douche-bags are hygienic products, I take that as a compliment. Thank you. [Keith walks off] Alexa: Ewww!

Yang can speak English, therefore he can cut promos. Not that that really matters much on Smackdown, but it'll make him look that much better to Vince. That having been said, I'd be surprised if he made much of an impact off Velocity before next year. Hell, I'd be surprised to see him on TV before WrestleMania XX.
Wisconsin Badgers: 3-1 (The game didn't start off as well as I might have hoped, but whatever. A win's a win.)
Minnesota Vikings: 3-0 (We were out played most of the game and we STILL won. Dare I hope this is actually a good team?)
