Cool excerpt about his feud with Macho Man.

Thanks. A fun little read.
It's interesting indeed to see that Macho once again comes with a huge script for the matches.
I guess he tried it a lot more times, and I wonder how often people rolled their eyes at him.

I always loved George's character as a kid. Good times..

Yeah, need to read that book.

I was second row ringside at a house show in Sioux Falls, SD back around 1991 when Steele was there in a road agent capacity or something.

In between a couple of matches, he was standing right in front of me discussing something with a ref, and it took me a minute to realize who he was. To see the guy who 'ate' turnbuckles dressed up having a normal discussion, even though I knew the in-ring character was an act, was sort of surreal.

From a writing standpoint, this looks to be the best written wrestling autobiography that I've encountered. I'll probably pick it up just for that alone. And if the excerpt is any indication, it looks to be well balanced on the on the fondness/bitterness scale, which is sadly a bit lacking in wrestling books.

Seeing how well-spoken (on the page anyway) he is, I think they missed a real opportunity to have George "The Animal" Steele do a storyline where he takes a chairshot to the head and is suddenly smart and civilized, then maybe have another incident where he reverts back.

Or maybe he gets hypnotized and only his manager knows the trigger word to put him into animal mode.

They sorta did and it was hilariously awful. I wish they still had the introduction for this on Wrestlecrap, it was very funny when I read it.
