So where does he go from here???

J.R. clearly stated that the feud would continue at the end of the match.

Linda calls Goldberg a disappointment.

And rumors are starting that Goldberg's on his way out.

And then we had the Y2J chants.

So, given the lack of a legit face challenger to HHH and Evolution starting to reform again, perhaps it's time to tie all of these things all together:

Have Y2J make Goldberg tap to the Walls. Which makes him an absolute badass. (Do it somewhere up in the Northeast where all the smarks are for maximum Goldberg hate)

Push Jericho as a tweener with Christian as his back-up against Evolution.

Have Christian turn on Jericho on the RAW right before Summerslam.

Jericho wins Summerslam Ironman match against HHH and feuds with Evolution until he drops the strap to Booker at some point.

Just a Jericho fan's dream...

So we'll probably get a Fatal Four Way at Summerslam with HHH, Nash, HBK, and Scott Hall with Waltman as guest referee.

That Fatal-4-Way match isn't a bad idea. I wish the bookers would entertain that idea. The Kliq all in the ring at one time. There would be so much more historical significance in that match than any other in history.

In an ideal world, one of the following would happen:

1. Jericho gets traded to Smackdown for Undertaker. He then feuds with the likes of Angle, Benoit, Cena, Eddie, Chavo, Rey Rey, Edge (upon return), Brock, Mattitude and anyone else. The belt will not matter there as the wrestling will speak volumes. Smackdown will then become Must See TV.

or

2. Jericho and Christian rejoin as tag partners and take the belts away from La Resistance. Jericho and Christian have a falling out after a loss to whoever. Jericho turns face and goes after Christian's InterContinental belt.

What will happen: HHH will continue to hear the cheers for Jericho and tell Steffo to turn Jericho face and immediately throw him into the title mix. Jericho will score some meaningless tag title pin over HHH. Their "feud" culminates at the folloiwng PPV where HHH destroys Jericho cleanly and pushes back down to mid card hell for Jericho to once again reinvent himself and work his way back.

I'm scared because I was envisioning the same scenario after Goldberg flames out. He's showing enough Steiner tendencies that by Summerslam though he may face HHH there's no way the belt is going to him, so once that happens there's no one left on the face roster to go for the belt. So when in doubt we turn to Jericho again, as a face turn for him would be easy enough to pull off and get the crowds behind. So you end up with perhaps 2 more HHH/Jericho matches (the post Summerslam Raw-only PPV and Survivor Series) where HHH goes over Jericho, most likely at some point involving a finish where HHH is laying on top of Jericho as Jim Ross screams about what a war The Game just went through, since they've done that now about 5 different times in the last year.

Hey -- I love your idea of Jericho/Christian and whomever against Evolution to turn Jericho face. Totally reminds me of the old DX vs Nation feud.

Now that you mention it, Y2J would be a very good challenger to HHH at SummerSlam or later. Provided Goldberg is gone, of course, because that's the logical storyline right now...

If the Disappointment does stick around until Summerslam for his match against Trip, then they are going to have to spin it so that Jericho was the disappointing aspect of the feud. Thus, Jericho gets stuck in an angle teaming with Test against Steiner (ugh, that could lead to Steiner's brother being signed.)

I am just pissed at WWE right now. I don't have hate for HHH or have hopes for Y2J as many on this thread seem to have. WWE screws up with everyone they bring in, Goldberg included, then they blame the wrestler. He is a disappointment? Come on. Reading the dirtsheets, it appeared that the political machine behind the scenes was working against Goldberg before he even made it to a WWE ring. The simple fact is that WWE is in such a slump right now, that nothing is going to turn it around overnight. Good angles, good matches for a few months will do it.

The bottom line is that if WWE is willing to spend all kinds of money to get Goldberg in and give up on him in a couple of months, do you really think that they are going to try to push Y2J? HHH will beat him down at Summerslam or they will have The Rock come back to beat the hell out of Y2J. I just think that is how it is in the WWE right now. No one is going to be "given the ball" and WWE really commit to him.

I agree with dskillz.

Why the WWE wanted to build-up Goldberg by having the Rock lampoon him, Jericho beat him down, change his tights and music, and make him look like an incompetent doof is beyond me.

You'd think that the WWE would know what they are getting:

TALENT SCOUT: "Yeah, this Goldberg fellow was hugely over in WCW when he was a mysterious, dangerous loner who would destroy fringe talent in mere minutes. He sold alot of merchandise. His weaknesses are his in-ring ability and he gets lossed when cutting a promo."

MCMAHON: "Thanks. Lets give him fruity tights, have him get into verbal conflicts with Rock and Jericho-- guys who can make anyone look like a moron-- and have him get beat down several times just a month after his debut. We'll even show him goofing around with Goldust and Booker T! And every show will include microphone time for Bill! Then, if he fails to be an immediate success, we'll consider him a failure!"

And yet, despite all that, Goldberg is not the failure everybody on here makes him out to be. His selling was excellent last night, his finishing sequence always gets a massive reaction, and he's still a fresh face amongst all the stale ones. Just because we come on here and spout "He's a failure because of a), b) and c)", doesn't make it so.

Let's remember that it was Linda McMahon who last Friday in a conference call stated he was a Disappointment. I think that eliminates the usual charge of 'internet bullshit' for stating the company's opinion on a wrestler. When the investors are told he's a Disappointment, its not much of a stretch for us to call him a failure.

There's a MASSIVE gulf between "disappointment" and "failure". Goldberg certainly hasn't set the world on fire, but to compare him to the absolute abomination that was Scott Steiner's initial run is pretty ridiculous.

Others on this board have stated that the tights are the ones Goldberg had for his Japan work. I also agree with most of what dskillz has said. Though.......

There is alot of Goldberg hate here, and now some who hate him are upset about him maybe not getting the belt? I understand the reasoning if they didn't want to give it to Booker T at WM only to give it to Goldyberg in the summer. I like the belt on one wrestler for along time, I hated a few years back when it switched every PPV. But it seems like we're in the same kind of jam of predictable booking. A few years ago we knew the title would change, these days we know it won't.

I think we're in a good position now, if Booker or Y2j are going to be the challengers for the big gold belt. I think that whichever guy wins it they should let him hold it for about four months or more, this way when someone else wins it, it will be special because half of the roster hasn't owned it. They should then drop the belt to someone out of the blue, a midcarder whom no one thinks will win it(the unpredictable). This way, when we think we know all, then they fuck with are smarky smark minds and we enjoy and thank them for it. At that point they should build the person after they win the belt, I know it sounds odd but I think it will work(Think Booker WCW and Backland WWF).

Things should be better now that we've been thru the shit crew(Nash, Steiner, Kane). If they do retread anyone, let's hope it's Hall because he can still wrestle.

And to the main topic, I love Jericho as a tweener, like his feud with Chyna when they wanted us to think he was a heel and the crowd would go nuts over how good he was.

Goldberg wrestled a very good match last night, and I give him all the credit in the world for it. However, for whatever reason the Goldberg character is having major problems gaining traction in high-level feuds. The crowd loves when he comes out and thrashes 3MW or some other random jobber around. But he has had 2 PPV matches now, and in both cases a sizeable chunk of the crowd has turned on him, which is not a good thing when you bring a guy in on the Sweetheart Deal of all sweetheart deals to be your company saving face. He is not a failure, what he is however is a danger. He has twice had problems doing his part of the PPV match (you know, the thing that all this stuff is supposed to lead to) which is dangerous when you consider what he's about to be booked against, considering that feuds involving HHH haven't exactly done a wonderful job of getting big heat on his opponent in the last 9 months or so. Who knows, perhaps tonight they may start a great angle to prep for Summerslam, but even an anti-smark contrarian with a highly optimistic viewpoint must admit there is some above-average potential for this to not turn out good at all.

See, if this was the WWE of old (er, I guess the WWF), they would have capitalized on the reactions Goldberg is getting. Turn him heel, have him buddy up with HHH to make sure NO ONE likes him. You could even try the old Hart-Austin double-turn with Jericho if they were feeling adventurous enough. Hell, that almost happened last night by accident....
But no, because Vince has high hopes that Goldberg will turn the product around, because Goldberg won't ever turn heel due to a creative control clause or something, and because his Russo-booked heel turn simply bombed, they'll never try something like that.

He won't agree to a heel turn because it runs counter to his vision of his character, would make small children cry, and weaken his appeal on the infomercial market.

Now, the first I read of this was here through the usual third-hand sources (411 via 1bob), and I seemed a little skeptical. I mean, it's not like either one of those sources ever let bias creep into their "reporting". So I went to the source, and this is straight from Linda's mouth (from the WWE corporate website):

"We did bring back Goldberg from WCW, who I think has made a pretty good impact. A little bit disappointing in what we wanted him to bring to the table..."

Now, that's seems a bit different from "Linda said Goldberg was a disapointment." She didn't elaborate on what exactly they expected Goldberg to bring to the table, however. I'd assume they're not happy that he didn't drive ratings or buyrates through the roof, but nothing they do seems to be doing that, so it hardly seems right to toss the blame at Goldberg.
