You forgot to mention the big news of the week. Marvel v. Capcom 2 is coming to XBox Live Arcade and PSN!!! The demo is coming out on Thursday. I cannot wait to bring my Dan/Servbot/Amingo team online and watch them get destroyed by Magneto/Sentinel/Cable team over and over.
Am I in Horseville? Because I'm hearing nothing but naysayers!

I can finally put my Dreamcast away as it is the only game I play on it. I guess my color guide will get more hits again on gamefaqs.

In terms of the 360 controller, I hear this kind of sentiment all over. While I do see where you're coming from since I got used to playing games on a d-pad gratis Nintendo, a little practice and the controller issue ISN'T. Also, the 360 d-pad ISN'T, it's another anolog stick with a different head in the shape of a d-pad, whereas a traditional d-pad has sensors under each directional.
I play Street Fighter 4 and SoulCaliber 4 with the plain old 360 controller with the analog stick, no less, and I can't complain at all. Sure, it took some getting used to, but after 30 minutes to an hour it's no sweat (and I wonder how I ever played fighters before without since I'm better with the stick than the d-pad now).
Also, I'm not going to be complaining about the brokenness of Magneto/Sentinel/Storm or Cable. I won't refuse to use them either; they may be 'jank' or 'cheap', but they are a part of the game itself. Adding additional rules to the game such as not using them and I'm no longer playing MvC2, I'm playing Calvinball. This, of course, is all null and void if Capcom did what they did with SSF2T HD Remix and patch it up for more balance.

On Micromanagement: They've almost completely eliminated it. Seeing as how they expanded the galaxy to 256 stars (plus planets plus moons) it's gonna get dicey once you expand past your willingness to click "Build Automated Factory".
