Count me as one who uses a PS2 to play original PSone games. It's not my PS2, mind you...my roomates own it, but I still have games I want to buy and defeat before I purchase any PS2 games. Final Fantasy VIII and IX being two in that list.
I'm one of the types that requires more use out of a video game system than just the gaming function. The PS2's DVD function was an awesome idea, as is the backwards compatibility. Same with the GBA playing oldschool GB and GBC games. Muy Bien!
SD2: April, Year 3; what's the point to the Career mode, anyhow? FF7: Disc 1; 4h into game; en route to the next reactor FF8: Disc 2; 14h into game; Laguna @ Windmill after Squall's fall.

That's not necessarily true; if I remember correctly, the original Japanese launch of the Game Boy "Pocket Monster" games saw a red, blue, and green version released. The greed edition never saw its way onto US shelves.
