We're at 59 right now and the low tonight is supposed to be 13. At 3:30 CST I noticed how sunny and warm it was and left to wash my car since a layer of visible dirt had gathered on it.
Literally ten minutes after I returned the POURING started. An extra rinse cycle I suppose.
4:20(!) in the afternoon and the wind chill is -44 where my gf works an hour north of here (smack dab in the center of MN). Imagine what it's going to be like when the sun goes down. I actually plugged my block heater in this afternoon here at work. I've been here 11-1/2 years and I've never done that.
I was outside for 5 minutes this afternoon, and came inside again at 3:15. At 4:45 I put my coat on, and it was still cold. That's just cartoonishly cold.

I never realized before that -40 is where the celsius and fahrenheit scales meet up. I probably learned that in school, but that's fascinating. And fucking cold.

That said, we saw the weather last night and thought you were probably hating it :)
It's warm INSIDE, so I don't mind much. Although it was -15 outside this morning, it was a balmy 8 above inside the garage, so the car was happy, too.
Speaking of: It was weird leaving work yesterday - apparently everyone has remote starting SUVs in this building and they all like to warm them up before coming outside to go home. There were at least seven running engines on the way to my car and no drivers in sight. You really see all the exhaust when it's THAT cold. g-g-g-g-ghost parking lot!
I wish I had a remote starter...perhaps I could've gotten into my car this morning! The doors on my toy Kia were frozen shut...then when I finally DID get in? The door wouldn't latch closed.
I drove the couple miles to my work hanging on to the door, and had to wait in the parking lot for it to warm up so I could shut the door.
When I finally bought a car, remote starter was probably the third most important thing that I was looking for, after "four wheels" and "engine". Totally worth it, even if it doesn't reach to my parking spot at work.

I,of course, needed gas last night. So on the way home I go to Costco, where the pumps are out in the great wide open surrounded by nothing, and the wind howled through there like middle of nowhere Wyoming.
At least I had my hat and gloves with me but MAN that was cold.
I forgot to mention the last Staraoke of the year, 12/27/09, where I performed my traditional end of the year Staraoke tradition: Dan Fogelberg - Same Old Lang Syne Now, to TONIGHT. Stu's birthday!
