JR in the Ross Report:
Does anyone else feel there is a market for classic tapes from
the Federation and WCW? We have some mat gold in our "vaults" in Stamford.

Damn you!!! Don't tease us like that! Give it to us already!
Can you imagine a true best of Steamboat, Macho, Flair, whoever you want?
Hell. Even a Hogan tape would be extremely cool, let's be honest.
I remembe WCW making those 'best of' tapes a few years ago and they were pretty bad imo.
Now imagine the wwf production crew behind that..should be very very very interestng.

When I read the Ross Report today, I whooped out loud! I'd spend real money on stuff like that! How about a "Complete Undertaker" set of DVDs? I've been dreaming of that for a while now. Well, you can leave out Giant Gonzales as far as I'm concerned, but I've only seen bits and pieces from the early '90s, so I'd love to have that.

I give mad props to the WWF video production department. Are they all NYU film students? They RULE. I'd be salivating at the prospect of putting together a Foley video with both WCW and WWF matches, or a Best of Wrestlemania series, or Summerslam! There is all the reason in the world to release that great material in some well-packaged form.

Yeah.. I think that there would be a huge market among wrestling fans for a 'best of' series of tapes... particularly if they were geared towards individual stars, so you could pick someone you like and run with it.. to quote Super Smash TV.. "I'd buy that for a dollar!"

Or something like that.

I've even said before that *I* would love to see old NWA stuff too. Not just selected matches edited together either, but actual, entire broadcasts. How would you like to see the entire broadcast, for example, of when Piper hit Jimmy Snooka, or when the Varsity Club debuted, or just watch Baron Von Rashike take care of some jobber? That would cool some seriously cool stuff and Vince could make a fortune off it, IMHO.

I hope these tapes (DVD's hopefully...probably) will be fully loaded and affordably priced....no more than 20 bucks a tape/DVD.

This is one of the reasons that a 'Wrestling Classics' network is viable, with the sheer amount of tape that they have available, they could show full unedited broadcasts. That'd take plenty of time during the day (of course, after a while you'd eventually just be rerunning all the time) but the question is, would the ratings be able to fund it?

Some DVD comps that I would give my left nut for (well, maybe I wouldn't go *that* far, but I'd part with a decent amount of cash):

Austin- from Stunning Steve to Hollywood Blondes to current WWF days

Jericho- All his classics from WCW and WWF. Especially his funny stuff from WCW (Malenko fued, Juvi, etc). And my personal fave- when he tried doing the Goldberg walk backstage to the ring, but got lost before he even got to the curtain.

Four Horsemen retrospective

Savage- Mostly WWF stuff, but there might be some good WCW stuff to toss in too.

Pillman- Mostly WCW stuff, but ya gotta throw in those classic WWF moments too.

Steamboat- Career spanning retrospective

Flair- See above

Shawn Michaels- Just about anything he ever did.

Did Vince acquire the ECW archive as well? If so I would LOVE to have best of Pillman, with footage of all 3 feds. The same would go for Austin, Foley and Benoit.

I don't think he did, though I didn't follow those lawsuits and bankruptcy things..
But as ECW ppvs are being released on a regular basis in europe and nothing indicates the WWF having anything to do with it, I doubt if Vince owns those.
Too bad..but who knows, in the future..

I know he made an offer to buy the tape library from ECW, but I'm not sure he actually got the deal to go through.

At least Steph is out of the picture, thus clearing the way for...Shane. Oh, nevermind. Maybe Shane'll take some more bumps through un-gimmicked windows or something...at least make his efforts to drag down the promotion *amusing*....
