So, it is my night to stay at home and since I finally figured out how to renew my Network subscription (even thought I probably shouldn't have bothered for a little while) I figured I would catch back up on some ECW Hardcore TV ... only there still aren't any new ones. Hey, but that's okay because it's Saturday Night, so why not do another retro Saturday Night's Main Event! (It's actually brewfest night too, but I guess we all grow up sometime ... wait who is recapping a wrestling show from their youth that hardly anybody will read?)

We go right into some rapid fire promos. I wish the WWE would still do little things like this, maybe they should watch The Network. It's worth noting that Brutus Beefcake says that we are on the 'cutting edge of sports entertainment', I don't remember hearing that phrase tossed around back then.

This is Saturday Night's Main Event #15

Vince McMahon welcomes us to Nashville Tennessee where we have a sold out crowd on hand. He is joined by Jessse the Body Ventura *yes* I didn't realize he was still around. McMahon mentions he himself is from the south. Jesse checks his neck 'yep, red'. They run through tonight's card. We are still in shock about Hogan losing the title via double Hebner referees.

Mean Gene Okerlund checks in with Greg The Hammer Valentine and Jimmy Hart. Valentine is going to tenderize that meat head Beefcake and drop the Hammer on his former Dream Team partner. Gene questions whether Jimmy Hart is afraid of getting his hair cut by The Barber. Hart asks Gene what he knows about hair. Valentine and Hart head to the ring.

Mean Gene is now with Brutus the Barber Beefcake. Lots of barber puns. Gene tells Beefcake they called him a poor wrestler. 'Don't get in a lather Mene Gene, when it comes to wrestling I've got the edge'

Brutus comes to the ring and chases Valentine out of the ring with his shears. We finally get everyone in the ring and they lock up and Beefcake gets the early advantage. They lock up again and Valentine suckers him in with a knee to the gut and hammers away. A whip to the rope and Beefcake hits a high knee! That's his old move! He follows it up with a body slam and a big boot. We get some strutting from Beefcake and we get two Atomic Drops, and nobody sells an Atomic Drop better than Greg Valentine. Just total anguish displayed by Valentine. Let me tell you something, Greg Valentine is totally underrated today. He gets lost in the Rock N Wrestling era, but that guy was a work horse. Sure, when he fell apart it was all at once, but he had a really solid run there.

Beefcake gets Valentine in the corner and pounds away for a ten count and Valentine does a Flair Flop. He begs off in the corner and Beefcake attacks. The referee Dave Hebner goes to separate them and Valentine waffles Beefcake with a cheap shot. Valentine takes control and then goes to the top and he connects with a weak looking elbow. A forearm drop to the head gets two. Valentine goes for a Figure Four and locks it in, but they are in the ropes. Valentine does the smart thing and holds the ropes for leverage before releasing the hold. He finally breaks the hold and kicks Beefcake out of the ring down to the floor. Hebner lays into Valentine and Valentine threatens to punch him out, but thinks better of it.

Honky Tonk Man comes out to the ring and grabs a microphone. He says Beefcake will never take his belt and cut his hair. Beefcake rolls around on the ground in pain grabbing the knee. An armada of referees escort Honky Tonk Man to the back and we go to commercial.

We're back and Hammer rolls Beefcake in and hammers away with elbow to the head and then a body slam. He signals for the Figure Four and delivers a head butt to the abdomen. He then stretches out the legs and stomps the knee. Here comes the Figure Four, but Beefcake grabs the tights and exposes Valentines butt. Valentine goes for it again and Beefcake sends him to the corner with his free leg. Beefcake is up and he is not selling a thing. Back and forth punches, but Valentine is dazed. Beefcake locks in the Sleeper Hold and Valentine scrambles to the ropes and they both fall outside onto the floor. Beefcake hits Valentine with a series of axe handles and sends him back in. As Beefcake enters Jimmy Hart attacks from behind. Beefcake chases after Hart who does a slide into the ring where Valentine catches Beefcake. Valentine hits a back body drop and scores a three count even though Beefcake's shoulder was clearly up at two.

Hart and Valentine celebrate like they just won the World Series then the announcement is made and your winner is Brutus The Barber Beefcake! We go to replay and Valentines shoulders were down as Beefcakes were up. Valentine and Hart can't believe it. Hart and Valentine raise their arms in victory while out on the floor and Beefcake reaches out and cuts a piece of Valentine's hair. Valentine is outraged and goes after Beefcake who grabs the shears and chases everyone out. McMahon loves it, Ventura thinks Beefcake is an asshole. You be the judge.

Mean Gene is with Bobby the Brain Heenan and King Harley Race. Bobby Heenan talks about Hogan losing his title. Race calls Hogan a mere Mortal. Heenan says by the end of the night Hogan will bow as a loyal subject. Heenan and Race head to the ring. Ventura thinks Hogan will be off his game without the title.

Mean Gene is with Hulk Hogan Hogan only bows to only one man and he walks on water. All the weasel's horses and all the weasel's men won't be able to put the king back together again. The shirt is ripped and Gene is all fired up.

Here comes Hogan. Will Race fair better than Wyatt vs Cena? Hogan chases Heenan around and we go to commercial break.

We are back and Hogan is heading back from his chase to get some of Race who waits in the ring. Race hits him with some elbow drops as Hogan slides in and Hogan no sells it. Race hits some headbutts that send Hogan reeling for a second. Oh no, too many headbutts Hogan gets the bug eyes and Hulks Up and hits Race with a series of closed fists. This sends Race down to the mat in a heap. Hogan stands over Race and rips off his shirt. All this is happening while Real American is still playing ... it's like a New Jack match!

The bell sounds and this match is officially on it's way. Hogan clotheslines Race multiple times and finally out of the ring where Race crashes into a table. Hogan chases, lifts him and spears him into the steal post. Heenan to distract, but Hogan is in psycho mode. Race attacks from behind and goes for a pile driver which Hogan turns into a back body drop and he continues to destroy Race on the floor.

Hogan puts Race in the ring and hits an elbow drop and then a series of punches to to the head. Hogan then chokes Race with the tape on his wrists and then clotheslines him with it. Ventura cannot believe how out of control Hogan is and wonders how he hasn't been disqualified stating he never broke the rules that bad back when he wrestled.

Hogan continues the onslaught. He gets Race against the ropes and starts choking away. Heenan tries to interfere and distracts Hogan. Race finally gets the advantage with a double axe handle. Race then delivers a knee to the head and hits a nice belly to belly suplex. He then drops another knee. Race again goes for a pile driver and he hits it! Kick to the head and he sends Hogan to the floor. Race goes after him and sets up a table. Hogan is on the table and Race goes to the apron and dives with a headbutt, but Hogan moves and Race crashes and snaps the table.

Back in the ring Race still in control and he heads to the top rope and he hits a diving headbutt off the top rope! Here is the cover and it only gets two. Hogan is up and Hulking up, don't hit him Race. Race hits him. Race keeps hitting him and Hogan hammers away. Viscous clothesline in the corner. Big boot to Race and there is the leg drop. Hogan wins! Heenan attacks from behind but does zero damage. Hogan gives chase and Heenan flies over the ropes and escapes. The Brain was quite nimble back in the day. Hogan poses and soaks in cheers. Race got more offense than Wyatt.

Mean Gene is in the back with The Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase and Virgil. Dibiase gets a good laugh out of a titleless Hogan. Gene reminds him that he doesn't have the belt either. Gene asks who Dibiase is going to have in his corner who Dibiase claims is worth his weight in gold. Dibiase says he wants to talk about Macho Man and claims a man with money is the most macho of them all.

Gene is with Macho Man Randy Savage Gene asks Macho if he is concerned with who Dibiase is going to have in his corner. Macho talks and Money walks Gene. Macho is going to bounce Dibiase around like a bad check. He brings out his platinum doll Miss Elizabeth. Gene is all worked up and to the ring we go.

Macho hits the ring and here comes Andre the Giant who is Dibiase's surprise. We go to commercial.

When we come back the bell rings and Savage runs to the floor where Virgil is giving Elizabeth the business. Savage slaps Virgil who doesn't seem to like it and Dibiase attacks from behind. Dibiase throws Savage in the ring and works Savage over in the corner and then hits a back elbow. Foot to the throat and Dibiase picks Savage up and drives his head into the turnbuckle and then follows with some shoulder blocks. Dibiase goes to the second rope and hits Savage and then goes for a choke. Savage rolls to Andre's side and Andre pie faces The Macho Man.

Dibiase Irish Whip get's reversed and Savage takes control with a clothesline and a high knee. Savage to the top and he hits Dibiase. Dibiase pleads for mercy and gets none. His kick gets caught and Savage clotheslines him for a two count. Dibiase bails to the floor to regroup. Savage holds the ropes and invites him back in. Dibiase thinks better of it and consults with Andre and Virgil.

Dibiase finally makes his way back into the ring and takes advantage. Dibiase hits his famous fist drops and then chops Savage into the corner. He whips Savage into the other corner and follows him in and gets a knee to the face. Savage gets a two count. Dibiase goes to the floor and drags Savage with him. Savage gains the advantage which brings Andre over. Savage stops everything, but Virgil hits him in the head from behind. The referee saw it and kicks Virgil out. We go to commercial

We resume with Dibiase in control. Dibiase hits an elbow which gets two and then slaps on a reverse chin lock. We check The Macho Man's hands, but Savage shows signs of life and gets to his feet. Dibiase pulls the hair while the ref looks at Andre and we are back on the ground. Savage gets back to his feet and fights out of it. Clotheslines, elbow drops and a back body drop. Dibiase crashes into Dave Hebner and the ref is down. Dibiase is thrown to the floor and Savage climbs up hits Dibiase all the way from the top rope. As Savage gets to his feet Andre catches him from behind and delivers a headbutt. He then sets out to destroy Savage. Elizabeth runs to the back as Andre hits a series of chops. Another giant headbutt. Dibiase wakes the ref and makes him count. He counts to ten and he is counted out. Andre goes back to work and throws Macho in the ring and now Virgil is back and he holds Macho as Dibiase slaps him repeatedly. Here comes Hulk Hogan with a steel chair and everyone bails. Elizabeth and Hulk check on Macho Man. His music plays, but he can barely stand on his feet. Hogan raises his hand to the cheers of the crowd and helps him to the back.

Jumping Jim Brunzel and B. Brian Blair hit the ring as Jesse Ventura is in the back with Haku, Tama and Bobby the Brain Heenan in a bee keepers hat and a dogs leash. He loves bees and he loves bulldogs.

It's the Islanders vs The Killer Bees. Brunzel attacks Tama. Quick tag to Blair and then back to Brunzel. The Bees in control until Brunzel misses a dropkick. Tama works over Brunzel as Ventura and McMahon go back and forth on who is gayer. This all stems from comments made about Beefcake's tights early in the show and Vince hasn't been able to let that challenge to his manhood go all night. Haku comes in and uses his power then almost attacks the referee for counting to slow. Double clothesline and Brunzel needs to make the hot tag and there it is. Blair destroys Tama and then hits Haku. Blair rolls up Tama and gets a one, two and the referee stops counting because he see Brunzel trying to stop Haku from breaking up the pin. Blair still has the pin until Haku hits him with a clothesline while the referee is tending to Brunzel. The referee misses all of this and counts the three as Tama pins Blair.

Mean Gene is with Slick and The One Man Gang . Gene wants to know why Slick is talking smack against the US Olympic Team. Slick says they are losers. Ken Patera is also a loser. Slick and Gang hit the ring and we go to break.

As we come back Patera gets the jobber entrance and Gang attacks before Patera gets out of his entrance gear. Gang slugs away, then Patera slugs away. Patera gets Gang in a bear hug. Gang struggles, but escapes. Patera then gets a full nelson. Gang gets to the ropes and Patera continues punching and kicking. Gang stops this with size and smooshes him in the corner with fat. Patera reverses and hits shoulder blocks and a high knee and the mounts for the ten punch in the corner. Patera in total control and whips Gang into the ropes. They both clothesline each other, but Gang lands on Patera for a three.

Patera attacks after the bell and goes for a slam until Slick breaks it up. We head to break and we will come back with The Hulkster!

Mean Gene with Hulk Hogan. Fee Fi Fo Fum you big nasty giant here I come.

Vince and Jesse recap the card and talk up the upcoming Wrestlemania tournament.

We leave to Hogan's theme music. Pretty solid show tonight.

cheers
BDL

The way Hunter's been hobbling around, give him 3 months off too after WrestleMania then bring the whole group back fresh. That'd give them time to really establish Booker T and whoever else on top and then insert HHH back into the mix.
