Stolen from Multi Channel News:

World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. will raise the price of its monthly pay-per-view events by $5 beginning with its April 21 event.

The increase to $34.95 will begin with the April 21 event, sources close to the situation said. But WWFE?s March 17 WrestleMania X-8 will retail at $39.95, the same as last year.

So they're expecting the fans to spend $70 a month now that they're planning on splitting up the WWF and putting on two PPV's each month? DAMN! Oh well, I watch it with a bunch of friends so the price I'm paying won't change much.

Hmmm...five more bucks a month. I'm not sure it's going to make a difference to me. I'll still get them. As long as the product is good I don't think five extra dollars will be too much for most people. Does anyone know when the last time the wwf raised ppv price was? Seems like they were 29.95 for a long time.

I hope they clarify this situation soon. I don't think the Fed is silly enough to think that we'll all pay $70 a month for two PPV's, and I highly doubt this is the route they'll go. Best theory I've heard so far (I believe it's j210's) is that each "company" will run a PPV bi-monthly - so Company 1 has a PPV in January, Company 2 in February, Company 3 in March, and so on. I'd be happy with that - it allows more of a buildup for each PPV, which should make them even better than they have been - and that's saying something.

I certainly hope that's the route they go with Brew.

That's exactly what I hope they do.... but then, what about the big PPVs? King of the Ring, the Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania? I would count Survivor Series, but it's just not the same anymore. Hmmmmm, my idea here would be one company gets KotR and the other gets Rumble, but both companies participate in the Tournament and the Rumble parts of the show. Then everybody back together for the Wrestlemania supercard.... of course, if they split the belts then what would the Rumble mean anymore???

That`s what I was hoping, share the "Big" PPVs (like you said, anyone can be in the KOTR tourney or the Rumble) and alternate months with the others (Backlash, Judgement Day, No Mercy, etc.). It gives them the same number of shows as before to build up a PPV, only over more time.

Would it really be build-up if each "company" still gets 8 shows before a PPV? It would just be an extended build-up, but the content would be the same.

Not to mention the major PPV mess.

In an incredibly cynical way, this reminds me of how cable's rates rise at about $1 a month or so.... sure, it's only $1 (insert 10-10-220 joke here), but it all adds up. $5 here, $5 there, and you're paying $50 a PPV.

One thing I like about living in Canada, is that PPVs here are also $29.95 but in Canadian Funds! So if you Americans want a bargain price PPV, just go north of the border!

Frankly, as long as DirecTV has no WWF PPV's, I'm saving about $150 a year based on what PPV's I purchase. And I'm still alive. I rule.

Why pay at all? I haven't bought a ppv for the past couple of years, and I don't miss them one bit! Between catching them at the local bar and scanning the results the next day on the net, it's all cool. I would call for a total boycott of all WWF ppvs to force a reduction in price just on general principle, but A) I don't have the energy, B)I seriously doubt enough people are pissed off enough to push the subject (To be honest I'm not even at that point yet) and C) People will still pay no matter how ridiculously high the prices soar (Just like we all do with gas!). I'll just stick to my own tactic of not paying the WWF a dime of my money unless the price is abso-f'n-lutely to my liking! And if Vince doesn't like my opinion about this subject, he can send Stephanie over to "negotiate" some cash out of my pocket! :-)

Well the difference between WWF and gasoline is that our whole culture has managed to make it almost impossible for us to live without gasoline. I'm sure Vince would love it if we all couldn't live without the WWF, but no matter how many stupid Survivor Series ads they run, it just ain't true.

Something I like about Canada is that they produce DISH network de-scramblers.

Not that I, wienerville, or slashwrestling condone this in any way.

Well, it makes it a lot less likely that I'll buy the lesser ppvs. The 30 bucks I was already spending could go to better use and now that it's 35 it going to be that much harder to part with. I know it's only 5 more dollars, but when you can only afford the 30 once in awhile it makes a difference. I'm sure the extra 5 dollars will make up for the people like me who won't be buying as many ppv's, so what do they care.

When I had the "cable box of magic" I would watch all the PPV's and everything else. I would even watch part of a movie when it was convenient then the rest of it later. It was like being given free dope. Then when the cable company started sending out digital signals, the box stopped working. It took awhile to "detox" but I got through it. Now that it's been a few months I'm starting to deal with it. I know a couple guys who order and tape all the wrestling ppv's so I made a deal to trade tapes of the ppv for tapes of my FMW dvd's. now we're all happy.
