As I am writing other things in the forum, I sit and wonder...

Does WWF have a problem now??

One thing that the internet people are always saying is:

"we want more wrestling, less talking"

Well, the WWF is caught in a trap it is going to have a problem with....

It has too many top level talent that are 'deserving?' of major mic time.

Jericho (Champ always deserves his time)

HHH (He is #1 challenger now)

Rock (even if interneters hate him, he is so over because of his mic work)

Austin (What?)

Undertaker (say what you will, but fans love to love or hate him)

Angle

Vince/Flair (this is why there is a ? in the deserving line above)

There is also the standard time for setting up other feuds and re-introducing stars, like Kane/Show, Perfect, Golddust, Godfather, Val....

In a 2-hour show, there aint that much time...

What do they do?
Who do they cut?

Last night was tough to watch, especially when they cut the Val/Perfect match to let Stone Cold have his mic time.

I certainly think that Vince/Flair should be cut out, except may be for a couple of SHORT back-stage vignettes....

How about no mic time for anyone, just wrestling?? One can dream cant one...

Actually, I thought they did pretty well with managing the mic time last night. Not having a lengthy promo until Austin, (which WAS funny, but pointless) and Flair, (which was GOLD!), I didn't notice the other stuff stinking up the show as much as usual.

When Vince first started portraying a on sceen heel in 98, he was called brillant and a refreshing heel. Back then it was new and excited. In 2000 he had to leave on screen a few times. And each time he showed up, even if it was a phone call or limo apperance, people ate it up. Which proves the obvious. Mcmahon is only good in controlled doeses. Everyone is cringing at the thought of Shane skipping and shuffling down the ramp anytime soon. But if he stays away untill at least SummerSlam I think most of use would welcome him back. Well, for at least a week or two. I don't know when or if they are going to do the split.

Until then Vince needs to get off screen, (which he should have after losing the Rumble) Have Flair interact with more wrestlers backstage. And let him be himself. Have him play favorites, watch him pit friends against friends (ala' Sting and Luger in 90) Stir up shit backstage, take bribes, take someone's girl! The Flair we all know and love. Have it become slowly obvious that Jericho is really that damn good (gimmick infridgment) and we begin to see, hey maybe Flair is jealous. I'm not saying turn him heel. But the Flair we booed in the 80's {kiss stealing, wheeling, and dealing..) Will get over in the 21st Century. I'm tired of seeing a heel or face Commish/Owner/CEO he should be in the grayest of the Grays. He'll screw over a random babyface if it served his interest, but will reverse a decsion if the heel screws over said babyface. It can go like this:

Flair (sitting in a leather Executive chair, sipping Champange, getting a massage and a manicure by 3 beautiful women)

In runs Edge..

Edge: "Damnit that tea sipping party-bitch Regal just got me DQ'ed again! I want him tonight for the IC!"

(Flair looks over)

Flair: "Now look, here you all breathing hard and stressed out. You interupted my pamper time, you got the ladies all alarmed. Well in my day, we had a saying.....what have you done for me lately?"

Edge:"Wasn't that Janet Jackson?"

Flair:"Forget about that, I was watching that damn fool Angle on the monitor screaming about how He's the greatest of all time, greater then Bruno Sammertino, Verne Gange, Harley Race, Sting, Bret Hart, and WHOOOOOOO (jumps up, girls scatter) BETTER Then Ric MY GAWD Flair?! In my day I walked that aisle, I stood my ground, I never ran from no man..

Edge:"Wait, I saw you run from Dusty Rhodes.."

Flair:"What?"

Edge:"Yeah, I was a kid, you had this blow up doll and you ran to the airport with Dusty right behind, how he kept up I never...

Flair:"Forget about that! (face twist to red anger....then he relaxes) Haha I like you kid, I'll tell you what I'll give you a shot at Regal's title at No Way Out..but..."

Edgeeyes narrow) "But?"

Flair: "First I want you to shut up Angle and that Conniving Perfect. Find you a partner and take on Kurt and Curt in a non-title match tonight! Whoooo!

Edge: (crestfallen) Yeah....sure whatever..

(Edge turns to leave, and just as he was out the door....)

Flair: "Hey Kid, (Edge turns) One more thing....your partner has to have NEVER won any kind of Championship, ever, ever, ever,!)

Edge: (eyes widing) "Not even the Euro...."

Flair: "Not the Tag Team, Hardcore, Women's title..nothing!)

(Edge looking bewildered leaves the office while Flair lets out a "good luck tonight kid whooo")

Edge: "Where the hell am I going to find somone who has never won any kind of gold?"

(Just then Maven walks in carrying his bag...)

Maven: "Hey what's up, Edge?"

Edge: (letting out a sigh) "Uhmm Maven.....we need to talk...)
FADE TO BLACK

And yes I know Flair can shit a promo better then I can write one for him. But it showed that:
1)He neither favors a face or a heel.
2)He is always ready to run someone's ear off about his day.
3)He isn't above using his power for his own selfish reason but he is a little fair about it, hence the Pay Per View title shot. Just Flair interacting with the roster will do wonders for whoever he picks to fuck with or use that week. And not like that crap with Storm needing a job. What, was I supposed to laugh at a guy who says I will do anything to feed my wife and kids? In this Economy? They need to stay away from drivel like that.

End of long typed rant and to the point: I don't know how much they paid for Flair to come back, but they need to use him. And less Mcmahon. Any of 'em. Only during sweeps maybe. (I know its cable

I think there was about less than 20 minutes of wrestling last night. Anyway, WWF has already established that their flagship shows are just vignettes and interviews with a tad of wrestling here and there. I wonder what was the point of the Venis/Perfect segment, when Austin just came out and ruined it and stunk things up. Oh yeah all that what SHIT SUCKS!

20 minutes? That more or less tends to be the average.

Personally, I hate the 20 minute promos. They are freaking pointless. Sure, there was that Foley/Rock promo that had that awesome rating but goddamn, I don't really care about what the hell Rock had for breakfast or what Jericho remembered while sitting on the toilet. That is one thing I can say about WCW back in 97-98. The promos were short and to the point. Try that WWF!!

Nod. 97-98 WCW promos were short..er, no wait..Hogan wailing for 20 minutes at least comes to mind.
When was the nWo split and stuff resulting in Nash and his pack spending hours on the mic? I believe that was 98 too.
There was Eddie spending 10 minutes trying to get jobbers to join his LWO..Warrior? Steiner & Buff rants..Etc etc..
And ofcourse every interview starting with Mean Gene's 5 minute suck fests..
Perhaps maybe because Nitro was 3 hrs it seemed less?

If Jericho remembers something good while in the toilet I think he can say that..but the 20 minute 'I am Vince McMahon damnit!' or 'My man, Trrrriple H will take YOU out' just suck..

Unfortunately the crowd eats up a lot of these promos... and that seems to be what the wwf wants.... and obviously if everyone turned the channel when the promos are on then the wwf would change tactics... but nobody changes the channel... they watch (the key thing) and then tell how bad it is (some of them)..... and that's the thing... if people watch it and like it.... the wwf will do it...

Maybe they could start saving 10 minutes for on of those ecw style pre-taped promo thingys, where they just jump from person to person letting them say a few things, that way everyone could get their time, and there would still be room for wrestling. I've noticed there seems to be one segment that is reserved for just backstage skits and nothing more, maybe they could use that time to give the people who won't get the opportunity cut a 20 min promo out in the ring. Personally, I think the more effective promos are the shorter ones that are straight to the point instead of the long ones that spend 75% of the time recapping things we have allready seen. I hate it when half of a promo is used to take us back to smackdown or 2 weeks ago on raw.

While the 97 - 98 promos weren't always short and to the point, they were shorter than the WWF's. I'd hardly call the Eddie Guerrero/LWo promos long, he got less mic time than anyone. And yeah, Hogan and the nWo had some looong promos, but they also had a three hour show, so you'd still get a lot more wrestling than the WWF.

I think they should revert back to cutting pre-taped promos in a studio, in front of their own logos.

Awww man, that sucks Right in the middle of his biggest night yet, too. Amazing he could still perform that well when he's essentially blacked out. DB is even more than man now than he was before I knew that. And LOL, from the comments ...
