the WWE released its "WWEs top 10 wrestlemania matches" was in this months raw magazine..
they are as follows:
Hart vs. Austin WM13 Austin vs. Rock WMX7 Benoit vs. Angle WMX7 Battle Royal WMIV (im happy they included this one) Ladder Match WMX Savage vs. Steamboat WMIII Taker vs. HHH WMX7 (i dont know about this one) Andre vs. Hogan WMIII Hogan vs. Rock WMX8 and #1... Austin vs. Michaels WMXIV
Battle royals generally suck, and the one at WrestleMania IV was no exception. I don't know why this is in there. Undertaker v. Triple H was a pretty good match, but nowhere NEAR the top 10 in 'Mania history. Austin v. Michaels wasn't as good as it could have been if both were 100%, but considering the condition they were in(especially Michaels), and still putting on a match around ***, they deserve some accolades.
Andre v. Hogan is one of the worst matches I've ever seen (I think me and my brother put on better looking matches in my backyard when I was 9), but the match wasn't about quality, and I can see why this is on the card. Hogan v. Rock is a really overrated match, but was more of a 'feel-good' match (Hogan v. Warrior falls under the same category, btw), and I can see why this made it as well.
I'd have to agree whole-heartidly with the rest of the list.
With all due respect, Benoit/Angle should not be there as well. Sure,it was a good match, but nowhere near the top 10 of all time WM matches. I'd replace that with Owen vs Bret. Also Hogan vs Warriar must be on that list, the fact that its not proves how retarded WWE can be.
Personally, I thought Benoit/Angle was around a ****1/2 match, which probably does rank it in the top 10.
Owen/Bret should DEFINITLEY be in there, and I really can't understand why it was left out (especially since Vince and Bret have seemed to mend a lot of their differences over the years).
IMO, I feel Hogan/Warrior is WAAAAAAAAY overrated as a match, and I don't think it has enough historical signifigance to be considered in the top 10. For me, it's kind of a 'on the fence' match. I wouldn't argue if it was on the list, and I'm not arguing that it was left off the list.
OMEGA, I have one question for you...how old were you at the time of WM6? There is no way someone who actually followed that storyline would think it doesnt belong on the top 10. Hogan lost for the first time ever as that character cleanly. That is one of the most significant moments in the history of pro wrestling. I don't care how much you guys hate Hogan and think Warriar was a joke, you have to admit it's true.
again - Hogan/Warrior should have 100% been there...especially since HBK/Austin and WMIV Battle Royal are clearly listed for "impotance" reasons if anyting else...
I can't believe I forgot about Owen/Bret..that was also an awesome match..
wrestlingnewsworld.com picked a rumor up somewhere that the ROCK is in Ft. Lauderdale and might make an appearance on RAW tonight. If so this could be the beginning of his build up to a WM 21 match.
