    It's the former.

FWIW, I seem to recall Vince changing the name of one or two PPVs when it was actually necessary. I think after 9/11 the Armageddon PPV was renamed, and a year after Owen's death that PPV had its name changed to something else random. But it's 11 years later now. His (tragic) death isn't at the front of every viewer's mind. And I could think of far worse (but still plausible) names for this PPV.

In the same vein, they kept ELIMINATION CHAMBER as "NO WAY OUT" in Germany.

I actually had forgotten the name of the PPV where Owen had died. Well, before today. I'm not offended by the use of the name, but I'd imagine that if it were held in Kansas City, it would raise a number of eyebrows.

Didn't WCW hafta make a post-hast name change when they dubbed a wrestler "Final Solution" (or am I remembering wrong)?

Yeah, a few Jewish groups accused them of being anti-Semetic (because that was Hitler's name for the Holocaust), so they changed it to "The Ultimate Solution".

Either way, it was just a big fat white guy.

They renamed Over the Edge "Judgment Day" and Armageddon "Vengeance", but changed Armageddon back the following year.

Cool. Thanks. They shoulda gone with the original name & let Goldberg beat his ass in a PPV ("Inglorious Basterds" in a wrestling ring!).

'Course, we're talking about an industry that featured the pro-apartheid Col. DeBeers fighting "inferior" minorities like Jimmy Snuka and an Iraqi war sympathizer being crowned world champion while American soldiers were still dying in the Gulf, so sensitivity & wrassling don't exactly go hand-in-hand....
