Of course, it's probably still a working title at this moment, but the advertised title for WWE's pay-per-view on May 23 is Over the Limit. (source: WWE.com main page, right column).
Which takes place on the 11th anniversary, exactly, of Owen Hart's death in Kansas City at the Over the Edge pay-per-view.
Please change this, WWE. Surely you're not that stupid.

I don't see what the big deal is. Is the use of "Over the" somehow a desecration of the memory of Owen Hart?
The May PPV was formerly titled Wild Card and is supposed to center around a roulette wheel creating gimmick matches. In having a "gambling feel", Over the Limit, while not a great title, makes sense.
I don't think any disrespect to Owen Hart's memory was intended, nor do I see how it is disrespectful to him. It's not they named the show Blaze of Glory, or Blaze of Doom or King of Hearts or anything like that.

I came here to say this. What's next, being offended they will even hold a PPV on that sacred day? It was 11 years ago and the name is NOT the same.. Over the Edge and Over the Limit refer to two completely different things.
Y'know, sometimes I wonder if I'm ultrasensitive to everything, or if it's just that the people on this message board are incapable of being offended by anything.
I'm beginning to suspect the latter.

Yes. You must drink a shot for every pinfall you score. The match will only end when one wrestler earns a pinfall AND THEN blows over the legal limit on a breathalyzer.

In FACT, I would make fun of those people who WERE offended.
Well, let's just say that people who watched the Over the Edge pay-per-view in '99 certainly couldn't complain about false advertising!
It's no wonder the name's so memorable even 11 years later.
So if he died at Wrestlemania should they stop using the WM name?
Just the term "Wrestle".
It is the policy of the documentary crew to remain true observers and not interfere with its subjects. "This topic is going to suck to read in three years." -Psycho Penguin "Well. Shit." -hansen9j
Vince has eliminated 'wrestling' from his broadcasts as much as possible, so if anything, it would be renamed just Mania.

It's the former.
FWIW, I seem to recall Vince changing the name of one or two PPVs when it was actually necessary. I think after 9/11 the Armageddon PPV was renamed, and a year after Owen's death that PPV had its name changed to something else random. But it's 11 years later now. His (tragic) death isn't at the front of every viewer's mind. And I could think of far worse (but still plausible) names for this PPV.

Middle of the road here. I see the point ekedolphin is try to make but more inclined to think of it just being a name for a PPV & not related to the tragic death of Owen Hart.

EDIT: Yes.
Just like making fun of people who smoke. Generalizing. Easy to take pot shot at people who do so. Comedians do it, then again this place is full of comedians. If you on the internet, you need a thick skin or you're probably going to commit suicide. Is anyone writing your note now? I love you, don't...we're all joking around here. CRZ really loves you or something like that...on most days.
Wait, isn't picking on people online against the law now? Cyber bullying? I'd like to make s citizens arrest, never mind.
I guess in put is mainly you know if it bothers you that much then don't watch it. Overall, I think its just a name.
