"The official website of Madison Square Garden, www.TheGarden.com, lists ticket prices for WWE Wrestlemania XX on the event calendar for the venue.

According to the site, the "Platinum Ringside Seats" (which allows those who purchase the tickets to take home a Wrestlemania XX chair) is priced at $754.50. This would be the highest ticket price in the history of professional wrestling in the United States.

The remaining tickets start at $204.50, all the way down to $54.50 for the upper deck of the Garden. Tickets go on sale 9/27."

-------------
Damn....$754.50 for a chair? Why is WWE charging so much for it? If 1Wrestling is right, and it is the "highest ticket price in the history of professional wrestling in the United States", I really hope they go all out this year.

With dwindling attendance, is this REALLY the time to be offering "the highest prices in wrestling history"?

When I bought tickets for Backlash 2002 in Kansas City, I was shocked to see the ringside tickets costing $300. Our lower bowl seats were $90 each.

When we got there, the $300 seats were obvious due to the take-home chairs. If I remember correctly, I counted the first seven rows (in the two directions the seats went that far) on the floor were $300 seats.

In looking at other PPV ticket prices out of curiosity later in the year, I found that's typical of WWE PPV's anymore, though this year they seem to be down to $200-$250.

If they can pull that crap off in the Heartland, $750 (rounded) for Wrestlemania in the Garden isn't a surprise at all. Frankly, I'm surprised ANY tickets in the building are under $100.

It'll sell. No problem. And comparing the visual spectacular of the past few years at Safeco, Skydome, and Houston, it'll seem really low key.

There was a thread a while back discussing the wisdom of holding Wrestlemania in an arena as opposed to a big stadium.

http://wienerboard.com/thread.php/id=12868

It appears that they are going to try to make up the revenue lost through lower attendance with higher ticket prices. Will it work? Well, I certainly don't see a price *I* would pay to see a wrestling event, even if it is Wrestlemania. But maybe others would. ($754 and all you get is a chair?)

It's Wrestlemania, it's Madison Square Garden, it's New York... I'd never spend that kind of money, but I don't think they'll have much trouble finding people who will.

Let me tell you something...no matter what the price of the tickets are, WM20 will sell out MSG in no time. There's absolutely no doubt about it.

And by the way...754$ will get you a chair...and a ringside seat to one of the biggest wrestling events of all time.

Isn't WWE planning to have next year's Summerslam in Toronto at the SkyDome? That increased seating would make up for any lost Wrestlemania revenue.

Just for perspective, those same "platinum seats" at WMXIX costed $400. Safeco field had about 55,000 people there, and MSG can hold what....17,000?

Exactly........I don't see why it's such a big suprise that they jacked up the price of the seat.

The less seats, the bigger the demand will be.

So, it's likely going to be around $150 for a decent seat at WM XX. A little steep, but not ridiculous in comparison. Hell, I'm already saving $40 by not going to Axxess. Then we subtract the $50 I would have spent on the PPV and we're looking at only a $60 difference. Sold!

History will tell if WMXX ends up being one of the biggest wrestling events of all time. Certainly, it's a milestone and in the past - not just WrestleMania - but WWE PPVs in MSG have been very memorable. We'll see.

The front row, and floor for that matter, will be filled to the hundreds of people who are either rich or like to spend three quarters of a thousand dollars on wrestling tickets.

Unless you're in the front row, floor seats are overrated, especially when there's likely to be no Titantron. You just won't see anything. Of course, there isn't much floor seating at MSG anyway.... there's barely room for players on the sidelines. The first row of raised seats would be the best... I'm assuming those are the $200 seats... and that's what my parents are trying to get me for my birthday (it may have to be Christmas too depending on how many friends I bring along).

I guess that will make up for last year's WM losses. Good luck getting a ticket.

I do wonder why this org. is so obsessed with this damn arena.

I bet I know where WM25 will be at.

Anyway anyone know what the PPV will cost to watch on TV?

Get used to it. I can imagine WWE -- not to mention the biggest concerts and sports events -- will start making high ticket prices the norm for the biggest events of the year. People will pay it, though. I was actually considering making next year that start of my proposed yearly Mania road trip -- I guess not now.

Big Bad -- where'd you hear about that? Don't get me wrong, I hope that's correct... its just news to me. If it's coming to the Dome, I am so there.

This is Mania XX related.

Supposedly, there's no Axxess this year.

Bummer.

Can someone please break down mathematically for me how a few hundred bucks on 2000 ringside seats, while every other ticket price remains fairly level, makes up for 30 000 potential lost seats by not doing a stadium? I'd really like to see a chart before I'll believe this can gross more than the last three year's manias.

I think having been in the last row for the Survivor Series last year made me realize that there isn't really a bad seat in MSG. Therefore, my friends and I will try for 200 dollar seats but I won't be upset if we get the seats in the 100's or 50's.

I'm just glad I have a friend who went to WM 1 and 10 and is DAMN determined to use his possible "connnections" to get us tix for this historic show. 750 is way out of my price range though.

Molly, Stacy and Daffney all in WWE? I suddenly lost all my will to complain about anything regarding the WWE. Hope I don't lose my street cred for this.

What makes it one of the biggest wrestling events of all time? The fact that it's got "20" in it's name? Judging from the past few years, I think we all know who will be involved in 3 of the top 4 matches: Vince, Stephanie, Sable, Zack Gowen, and A-Train. Anything else at this point is just buying into hype.

Shit, this is Wrestlemania 20! There's NO WAY Vince isn't booking himself in at least 5 matches. If we're LUCKY he won't end up reuniting the Undisputed Title by beating both Brock Lesnar and Triple H in a Fatal Three Way.
