To be fair, a broadcast rating is actually higher than a cable rating. A 2.4 broadcast rating would actually be something like a 3.2 cable rating because of the market penetration of broadcast vs. cable. I'm not sure of the actual math behind that or how it actually works (I'm sure somebody else on the board will fill us in on that), but the point is a 2.4 broadcast rating for SD isn't as low as it might seem and isn't as low as if RAW got a 2.4 cable rating.

I'm not sure that's the issue though. This past SD was the first Friday show that had no baseball preemptions at all, and it pulled in a rating almost a full point below the previous week, which had baseball in several major markets. That does not make *any* sense to me.

Smackdown only drew a 2.5 last week. You're likely thinking of the overnight rating that came out in the 3's, but that was just taken from the areas where the show aired as normal. Taking all the pre-emptions into account it always comes in much lower than the overnight, so there's very little difference between last weeks and this weeks rating.

On the other hand, a 4.0 for Raw is terrible after they spent all that time building up last weeks show, only to lose almost a full point the very next week. They were doing 4.0's fairly regularly on Spike, so all that emphasis they stuck on Homecoming at the expense of the Smackdown PPV has been for nothing.

Well, TNA's been hot leading up to last night; I don't doubt that they'll get it together. At least record "ˇmpact!"
