In one of those things I did because I'm bored, I figured out how to sort all of the merchandise on WWE Shop by best selling. I did this mainly to see if it gave inside into the #DivasRevolution, as far as why we get so much Bella outside of Vince loves the twins and John Cena Forever.
This is followed by mostly random Bella merch from 6-11, and 12-14 were the three variations of the Blue Pants shirt.
What does this tell us? Bailey is awesome, clearly. The girl is going to rival Cena in merch sales one day, especially in the youth area. She's such a can't miss character for sales, which makes me wonder how they mess this up. Her sales are spiked a bit by Takeover I'm sure, but she's popular anyway.
The Bellas are still the queens of WWE merchandise sales (with triple the items available next to anyone else), and Paige has her grip as she always has, much like AJ had. Sasha is the only one of the three to move up to me making any real moves with sales (she's also the only one of the three with almost an entire page of items themed to her).
So as far as the company sees it, the Bellas are the face of this for a reason, and that's because they are selling.
As far as most items for sale per diva: 89 - Bellas (27 Brie-specific, 25 Nikki-specific) 24 - Paige 12 - Sasha 6 - Charlotte 4 - Becky 4 - Bayley 4 - Naomi (3 Team B.A.D. specific, 1 Funkadactyls) 3 - Blue Pants 3 - Stephanie 3 - Tamina (all Team B.A.D.) 3 - Natalya 2 - Cameron (1 Funkadctyls) 1 - Alexa 1 - Emma 1 - Lana 1 - Trish
And, just for something to chew on, the top ten overall for the men: 1 - Cena "15x" shirt 2 - Balor "Balor Club" shirt 3 - Rollins "Never Shuts Up" shirt 4 - Lesnar "Suplex City: Brooklyn" shirt 5 - Bryan "Yes Revolution" shirt (on sale 7.99) 6 - Lesnar "Suplex City: Minneapolis" shirt 7 - Cesaro "The Professional" shirt 8 - Reigns "Hit Hard, Hit Often" shirt 9 - Owens "KO" shirt 10 - Liger "Thunder" shirt
Naturally the new Cena gear is first. Balon, Owens, and Liger were spiked a bit by Takeover, though Balor and Owens being that high is not surprising. Lesnar's city shirts are some of the smartest merchandise they've made, as they are basically selling a slight variation of the same shirt dozens of times.
Items available by male superstar: 117 - Cena 55 - Ambrose (3 Shield) 49 - Brock 43 - Reigns (3 Shield) 40 - Warrior 35 - Stone Cold 33 - Orton 32 - Sting 29 - Bryan 28 - Rollins (3 Shield) 26 - Zigger 23 - Rock 22 - Undertaker 22 - Jim Ross (barbecue stuff) 20 - Triple H 19 - Ryback 18 - Owens 17 - Barrett 15 - Savage 14 - Heyman 14 - Balor 13 - Wyatt (8 Wyatt Family) 12 - Michaels (1 DX) 11 - Sheamus 11 - DX as a group 9 - Luke Harper (8 Wyatt Family, 1 solo) 9 - Erick Rowan (8 Wyatt Family, 1 solo) 9 - Bo Dallas 9 - Usos 8 - Cesaro 8 - Wyatt Family as a group 7 - Goldust 7 - Kane 7 - Edge 6 - Big E (1 solo) 6 - Stardust (1 as Cody) 6 - Enzo (all with Cassidy) 6 - Cassidy (all with Enzo) 5 - Big Show 5 - Jericho 5 - Sandow 5 - Swagger 5 - Miz 5 - Neville 5 - New Day 5 - Kofi (all New Day) 5 - Woods (all New Day) 5 - Prime Time Players 5 - Bret 5 - Zayn 4 - Rusev 4 - Regal 3 - Dudleys 3 - Ascension 3 - Tyson Kidd (with Cesaro) 3 - The Shield 3 - Henry 3 - Piper 3 - Itami 3 - Samoa Joe 3 - Corbin 2 - Breeze 2 - Batista 2 - Christian 2 - Flair 2 - Sin Cara (1 Lucha Dragons) 2 - Zack Ryder (1 Hype Bros) 2 - Andre the Giant 2 - Lawler 2 - Mojo (1 Hype Bros, 1 solo) 2 - VaudeVillains 1 - Goldberg 1 - Adam Rose 1 - RVD 1 - Pillman 1 - Del Rio 1 - DiBiase 1 - Hype Bros 1 - Lucha Dragons 1 - Kalisto (Lucha Dragons) 1 - Bull Dempsey
Meanwhile, over at ProWrestlingTees.com, 5 of the top ten selling shirts are for Roddy Piper, Steve Austin, and Randy Savage. I wonder how much that annoys Vince?
If you expand to the top 20, Piper has 5 shirts, Steve Austin has 2, Randy Savage has 2, CM Punk has 1, Scott Hall has 1, and Lance freaking Storm has 1.
(The other 8 belong to Bullet Club (3), Nakamura (2), Young Bucks (1), Ronda Rousey (1), and the site branded shirt (1).)
What strikes me the most is that I could actually wear the majority of the ProWrestlingTees shirts without being embarrassed. There are maybe two of the top ten men's shirts on ShopZone that I could wear non-ironically.
How much of a cut does someone in WWE get for a shirt? If I buy a shirt from The Young Bucks at a local show they pocket the $20 minus the cost. If I buy it off ProWrestlingTees.Com they pocket the $20 minus cost and PWT service fee and they sell a boat load of different shirts. If they sign with WWE they maybe get a couple of shirts and probably some kind of small percentage. That seems like a huge hit to their earnings.
I assume not all WWE wrestlers are getting the same cuts. Anyone have any idea on how it works?

I've never seen anything about what the base cut is on merchandise but if the salary #s leaked last year are accurate, Cena gets a 6.25% bonus on "high merchandise sales", which would only work out to $1.25 on a $20 shirt. Of course, when you're selling the millions of t-shirts that John Cena is selling, that adds up pretty quickly.
I know I'm late to the party, but this is a fun series to watch. Just one thing that I don't get: does anyone know what the deal is with having the Dolph Ziggler figurine and the Ghostbuster one next to each other in several of the episodes?
