Daniel Bryan vs. Heath Slater!
JTG vs. Mason Ryan!
Alicia Fox vs. Tamina!
Curt Hawkins & Tyler Reks vs. Titus O'Neil & Percy Watson!
All this PLUS Brodus Clay in action!

EDIT: WWE's YouTube account removed and replaced this episode on us - no idea why, but it's been updated here (thanks Niki!)

Brodus continues to dominate and impress. I like it.

Add the usual great D-Bryan match and you have a nice little hour of TV.

Holy shit, Mason Ryan's still on the main roster! And what an odd match to feature him in. Does this mean JTG's a de facto face? Is Mason Ryan a face? Am I wasting my breath by asking these questions? Probably.

What the...? Did I die and wake up on an episode of NXT? It's SHOWTIME! OH YEAH! But where are his goofy glasses? And isn't Titus O'Neil currently on NXT right now? What the hell is even the point of NXT anymore? I'm clearly asking too many questions. This was a decent match. If they're building up the tag division, gotta start somewhere. Might as well be here.

If Alicia's gone babyface, she needs new music.

They seriously can't find anything for Brodus to do on SD? I'm sure Christian needs a bodyguard or something. Hell, nobody remembers what show he's supposed to be on, anyway, so why not put him with the Vickie Family? Get SOME fresh blood on those shows.

Is it a bad sign when the WWE Superstars page features the haedline "Bryan Finally Wins"?

Wow, I recognized Titus, but I didn't recognize Percy Watson.

Just watched it and um... wow... commentary. Commentary that actually focuses on the matches somewhat. I had forgotten what that sounded like in the WWE.

First divas match I've actually watched instead of fast forwarding through in I couldn't tell you how long. That was good stuff. Based on her size and what she can do in the ring, it seems like Tamina should be getting that monster heel push to rival Kelly instead of Beth and Natalya.

Mason Ryan's a face now? Um, okay.

I find it interesting how (unlike how The Corre broke up) The Nexus simply disappeared quietly. They even did it while Otunga and McGillicutty were still tag-team champions. This, I believe, marks Ryan's first "televised" appearance since the Nexus dispersal, and he wasn't even acknowledged as a former member of the group.

Tyler Reks' theme music, for the first measure or two, bears a slight resemblance to Tazz's old WWF music.

Did Alicia Fox turn babyface on NXT or something? 'Cuz I'm pretty sure she didn't on Superstars. I guess they're merely testing talent out in different roles to judge how best they'll get over. (Which, of course, is one of the most important aspects of a B-show).

Is it just me, or did we get more wrestling time on this one-hour episode of Superstars than we did on the most recent two-hour episode of SmackDown?

Brodus Clay's got some talent. So when are they gonna stop feeding him tomato cans? I mean, Allen Turner wasn't big enough to wrap his arms around Clay, for godsakes. (I'm not saying I am either, but let's see how well he does picking on someone closer to his own size).

I love "Big Epic Thing" for Daniel Bryan's music. Jim Johnston should be composing movie soundtracks.

"I think Triple H will win this match." "Hold still, you got something on your nose, lemme get it for ya." "Haha! Triple H isn't listening. [He doesn't watch this show.]"

Some great wrestling on this edition of Superstars as usual, and yes, I agree that the commentary is fantastic. I could do with having these guys on an A-show, and getting rid of the three-man Booths of Idiocy.

Alicia was turned when she was attacked after losing a tag match by partner Natalya back on Smackdown (The W).

I never would have guessed that was Percy either!

I see Brodus was playing with his food -- getting his victim to a 2 count, and then pushing up the shoulder so he could toy with it a bit more.

Bryan v Slater was good-- a nice long match. As usual, some great submission moves. Outside of the ending few minutes, I also liked Bryan's yell as he launched a kick at Slater's face.

If one were watching Raw for half of 2010 and the TV show was built around this group called Nexus and the identity of an anonymous Raw general manager, one probably thought one would get resolution to those stories. Fool!

The thing is, Vince produces the real shows and doesn't bother with Superstars or NXT. So whoever's on Superstars gets to relax and just call wrestling. Whoever ends up on Raw would still have Vince in their ear yelling at them to speak in soundbites and stop doing radio and shut up why would you say that. Remember, Josh was always great on the b-shows, and now he walks on eggshells trying to keep track of all the rules for speaking out loud.

Yeah, he's done that in the last two or three jobber matches he's been in on Superstars, too.

I missed SmackDown and obviously didn't pay enough attention while reading the recap, so I missed the Alicia face turn. Hey, how come people turn heel by attacking someone, but usually turn face by being attacked by someone? It'd be nice if, for once, the character didn't feel compelled to change their entire personality because they were turned on by their partner.

Or, to put it another way: "We may have been a great heel tag-team before you left me lying in the middle of that ring, but that doesn't mean I'm a nice guy all of a sudden."

And if it is Vince who's creating all these rules for speaking on the A-shows, and yelling in people's ears (which I don't find hard to believe), he needs to stop being such a control freak. He's damaging his own programming in that regard.

His DDT into the Guillotine had me and my friend yelling and cheering at the tv. Great stuff.

Has history officially been rewritten so Brodus Clay won NXT season 4? (And A-Ri won season 2, and AJ won season 3.)

Where has Justin Gabriel been the past few weeks?

They still trot out the anonymous GM podium sometimes, right? Or had been?

Yes. Additionally, Michelle and Maria won the first diva search, Miz won season 4 of Tough Enough, Matt Morgan won season 2, and nobody won season 5.

Retconned history should have the winners as:
Tough Enough 1: Josh Matthews (immediately retires)
Tough Enough 2: Kharma (does not compete until 2010 because she has a child every year between then and her WWE debut)
Diva Search 2003: Vickie Guerrero
Tough Enough 3: John Morrison (but only because everyone else quit or died or something)
Diva Search 2004: Michelle McCool (defeats entire planet in finals)
Tough Enough One Million: The Miz (entire series is broadcast simultaneously on all major networks)
Diva Search 2005: Layla (replacing the Leyla actually in that year's contest)
Diva Search 2006: Maryse (defeats her stalker in finals)
Diva Search 2007: Kelly Kelly (defeats Eve in finals)
NXT1: Michael Cole (defeats Daniel Bryan in finals)
NXT2: Alex Riley (defeats self in the finals)
NXT3: AJ (defeats Aksana via saxaphone distraction in finals)
NXT4: Brodus Clay (defeats Ricardo Rodriguez in finals)
Tough Enough 5: Stone Cold Steve Austin (defeats The Dude From Psych in the finals)
Diva Search 2011: Kelly Kelly (one Diva Search victory per Kelly in name)
NXT5: N/A (show runs until collapse of western society)

Tough Enough 3: John Morrison (but only because everyone else quit or died or something)

co-winners John Morrison and Melina! <3 <3 <3 and there's a late season episode where Big finds a homeless person sleeping at Trax and John and Melina invite him in for a warm meal. And that homeless person is Joseph Mercury.

NXT5: N/A (show runs until collapse of western society)

I very much believe that as the show continues to evolve into its own territory, the finale should end with the drumroll winner being revealed on the Titantron as ... a woman asleep in bed with her face obscured by a sleep mask, who wakes up and unmasks as Tiffany, laying in bed next to Drew McIntyre, jumping out of bed because she forgot to book that week's ECW. Then the show just resumes as ECW with that "Don't Question My Heart" song and the current cast of NXT regulars (now feat. the Usos as of last night).

well, they've clearly decided Puder is going to win it. No way he loses a shot against Mizanin or Smith. Wasn't the last one Butterbean and Mero at Armageddon '99?
